Amy Ray - Sure Feels Good Anyway (Official Video)

- This video was filmed in Georgia with the help of neighbors, friends and family.
We started up in the North Georgia hills and worked our way down to Atlanta where we gathered for a meal in the backyard. My mom even dropped by for the festivities. This song is about my love of all the good things in the South and the reality of what we wrestle with; in spite of all that is unacceptable and dysfunctional, we take pride in our ability to gather and overcome.

Love it!!! As a gay and proud middle aged black man who was born and raised in Athens, GA and graduated from GA Tech in engineering, the words of this deeply resonate with my bruised and aching soul., God bless you Amy Ray for having the courage to record this song.
I was raised in Athens, too, Dexter. This song makes me cry. I don't understand why people can't just love each other. Still going on after all these years. We must continue to fight hatred, racism, all the dark ugly parts of America's history, replaying itself like a wicked broken record. 💖
So are you a dawg fan or a Yellow Jacket?
This is like the most underrated song ever.
Amy, Carrie, and Ozie are the most adorable family 💗
An anthem. Thank you Amy Ray.
I've been listening to your music for 23 years and it is still amazing. Love the new stuff.
TiffanyMichaelia B exactly good pure resonance in her music!
Damn you’ve been a fan more than my whole life. Amy is lucky to have people like you! I just discovered this today
@@ZoeyPaigeLunaPhD There’s so much for you to experience for the first time! I’m jealous but nice that you shared! The girls speak to souls while moving bodies and it’s always perfect!
One of my all-time favorites--thank you, Amy, for expressing some of my complicated feelings about being southern!
You expressing through music your complex feelings of being in the South is cathartic to me as I feel them too. Thank you for this song Amy! Truly thank you. I love the videos you're putting out for this album. I loved reading the story of this video in the description, too. Thank you for being you.
💜
This southern girl is right there with you Amy. This made me cry. Why can't we all just love each other? What's so freaking bad that they're hanging on so hard to Southern pride (hate)?
Been with you since the beginning. Still hearing you. Take care y'all. Alot of years of wisdom under the bridge.
Loved seeing ES cameo. Loved seeing AR rocking with her young 'un on drums.
I cried like a baby listening to this! Love this!
Love this song so much! Thank you, Amy, for your VERY special energy. Forever!
I love this so much! It's wonderful to see your family and friends. Thanks to Heartbeat Films.
This album is really great. So many southern musicians are sort of grappling with love of their home and people and the hateful stuff some of the other people living there are putting out. This song should be up there with Mandolin Orange's "Wildfire" and Jason Isbell's White Man's world.
So much energy, so much balance, so much coming together, cheers!!!
I've been listening to you for 25 years. Your music still resonates so completely. This song is beautiful, the spirit of community and support is abound. Your cups floweth over and you give that sense to all of us. You are a genius, thank you for sharing your divine gifts with us.
It ain't southern pride its just southern hate...no truer words ever spoken. Awesome song!
That's a great Song. Amy Ray can do whatever she puts her mind to do.
Amy Ray ! love 💕....
This song says it all..
I listen to this song daily!
Hi Amy, a huge hug from Berlin, we will always love and support your brilliant music and all the activism you do. We're far away, but you sure feel good wherever!
I love this song. I do my best to listen, deeply, to all of your "southern" songs. As a progressive who lives out west, I have always found it really difficult to understand how you (and others) can continue to live there. And/but, like I said, I do my best to listen, deeply, to this, to Become You, etc. Thanks for your eloquence on this (and oh so many) topics.
I saw the band in Nashville this week. Any fan of IG should know Amy's feelings about the town. She talked in between songs about living in a town that doesn't like her. She referenced a preacher at one point and said he doesn't like me but I'm not giving up
@@joydaves3844 Yeah. When they were playing Nashville every night back in 1992, I wasn't into it, and wasn't pleased that it was taking up a setlist slot. But a few years later, I fell in love with it, and regretted not appreciating it when they were playing it.
Amy, this is absolutely fabulous!! Thank you so much!
Can't get the smile offa my face. SO good Amy!!
This song has such a good vibe. Love it.
This song rocks so hard, I love the sound of your new band. And man, I want to be your neighbor - let’s throw down some banjo and mandolin around the fire...
Saw this fabulous band at this past weekend…at an unforgettable venue called Haw River Ballroom. Top notch show! I’m a HUGE fan of Amy Ray from her Indigo Girls fame & was dying to see her solo work. Certainly NOT disappointed by the music, the band, the venue, and the fact that Amy herself rocks and sings as strong & soulful as ever. What an enjoyable event! Congratulations to Amy & her band. I am thrilled to see the show and pick up a tee shirt.
MAN< this woman is making some good music.... !!
Thanks for all the years of sharing your love, music, lyrics, growth, becoming. Thanks ARay . Sending big love and just found out you & band to be en Santa Fe the 27th---gots to go!!
Love this song. Great video. It's our home too. Just as much as anyone else's. And when I leave, I do always feel homesick.
Thank you for another life-giving album - can't wait to see you and your band soon in Austin!
I LOVE THIS!!! THANK YOU AMY RAY MUSIC!! I just listened several times and absolutely love it!!
Dahlonega Bluebird baby!
I love this song...miss you Amy!!!
No idea why I just now ran into this but damn girl! You still speak to my soul like back in high school!! Or in Athens Ohio! Or at Lilith Fair in Albuquerque! This song needed to be heard and that’s what you do! Thank you for all you always do!
I Love this song 😍
That's a damn good Song. My first time hearing it and love it. Amy can do no wrong.
I love this so much. Resonates deep in me. ♥️
Love Amy and love this song!!!
This one is awesome, love this! This one is the hit!!
❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful!
I was eager to hear this after listening to your fascinating interview with EveryoneLovesGuitars. It's a gorgeous song, and gorgeous video. Your Southern gathering reminded me of my childhood in northern Ontario, Canada, with a large extended musical family. Thank you for all that you do.
The video to the music has a really nice feel to it. Great job on both the video and music
Love Love Love!
She is sooo good! I love this song and Amy ❤️💕

🔥FOREVER🔥
B🔥FIRE🔥
Wonderful song. What is in the dish which looks like a combo of macaroni cheese, pumpkin (?) + something green, and another component further back? It looks great :)
Probably not pumpkin. More likely sweet potatoes and collard greens casserole. Yum!
Thanks for that :)
i'll get your text about 3 am
when i cross back over the border again
bye-bye canada hello usa
those lefties sure make a lot of sense
and sometimes it's nice to feel good in my skin
but i'd trade it all for some southern hospitality
i know that you don't like me
oh but it sure feels good anyway
i know that you don't like me
oh but it sure feels good anyway
i'm gonna tell them boys don't be a drag
ain't ya tired of fightin' 'bout the damned ol' flag
well it ain't southern pride it's just southern hate
and i know from your mamas that you're better than that
every time i call well you have my back
some time for muddy buddies and a tall glass of sweet tea
i know that you don't like me
oh but it sure feels good anyway
i know that you don't like me
oh but it sure feels good
i've got gravel from the road in the bottom of my boot
the kiss that you left still burning thru
i can't rest til get back home to you
when i left the last words that were out of your mouth
were how can you live in the backwards south
devil in the roots and jesus on the vine
cause it feels fine
yeah i was born in the grist of a rebel yell
swaddled in the song of the whip-poor-will
they haunt me and they hold me just the same
but it's an ounce of comfort for a pound of grief
i just wanna sit on the porch with you and hear the tall pines creak
still sweating in september when that sun goes down
i know that you don't like me
ah but it sure feels good anyway
i know that you don't like me
oh but it sure feels good anyway
sure feels good
gravel from the road in the bottom of my boot
the kiss that you left still burning thru
i can't rest til get back home to you
gravel from the road in the bottom of my boot
the kiss that you left still burning thru
i can't rest til get back home to you yeah
Not my culture but not that different. When are you back in the UK? I was hoping to see you in Bath last August.
Been a fan for 32 years. The Battle flag to me is Southern pride. Those who don't understand the history of the Battle flag choose to see it as Southern hate because they don't know any better. That is sad.
