- this isn't necessarily a "fix it" type of thing. just wanted to mess around with the quotes from the books and piece them together with the footage we have from shadow and bone. Not too happy with how it came out, so I think I will either delete this or work on it some more and upload it again some other time. this also was supposed to be short and sweet edit, but it turned out longer than I had wanted it to be :P
I went back and began rereading the books to see that, if they were to adapt six of crows, things would remain mostly the same. And I can say that I am honestly not too worried about it. I understand why they put kanej's "stay in ketterdam" scene at the end of the season, because if the show were to follow closely to the books, they would need to create a rift between kaz and inej. Their relationship had developed over these past two seasons, but at the beginning of the six of crows duology, they have not had any development yet. So putting that kanej scene was a way to set them back a few steps. And I honestly think that the kanej scenes in the first book are going to be way more angsty because that conversation will be like a pink elephant in the room. It'll be the reason why Kaz will try to push her away more, and why Inej will become more cautious around Kaz like how she was in the books.
As for other scenes that were adapted from the books. I don't really want to consider them full adaptations because in the show it seems like those scenes are actually setups for the scenes to come. The writers have left room for themselves to fully adapt these scenes, or to expand on them, to make them grander. For instance, Kaz helping Inej with her wound. It's not THE bathroom scene, but it is set up for it. The confrontational scene with Kaz and Pekka, which was actually one of the last plot points at the end of crooked kingdom. In this adaptation, it seems like the first step in their feud, rather than the last. And the fact that Pekka's in Hellgate, there's a possibility that he will call the shots while he's in there, which will make for a bigger shock to the crows when they get ambushed and find out that Pekka was behind it. For Kaz to get his revenge, it's gonna take more than just throwing Pekka in Hellgate.
(I'm writing this and it's super late, so I'm sorry if I don't make much sense :P)
I really do hope we get a spinoff of Six of Crows. I feel like it still has a lot of great potential.

what can I say? This is best thing I’ve ever seen. I love this so much. Book!Kanej means so much to a lot of people, and this captures perfectly their essence. The lines from the books read out loud along with Freddy and Amita’s acting is something special.

Ahhh this is so good!!! I LOVE IT. I’m re-listening to the audiobooks right now so this is exactly what I needed. Those Kaz and Inej chapters just hit different. I totally agree with all your points about adapting six of crows too. It feels like these two seasons have been perfect set up for that story. The bathroom scene is literally the best moment in the books. There’s no way they don’t adapt that fully just because they already did the crypt scene. It’s just gonna make the bathroom scene hit even harder imo.

also i agree with your words, plot of six of crows can be adapted almost without changes. relationship between characters progressed more further and that's just gonna add more tension and more feelings into scenes. i'm praying we get the spinoff, i believe it could be an amazing adaptation still

Please don't delete it because it's really really good. In my opinion it's one the best Kanej edits I've seen and not gonna lie, I would want to return and rewatch it again and again lmao, so I hope you don't delete it. Also the description was actually eye opening for me because I wasn't contented with second season, so from this point of view if we get the spin off maybe we can see more development than in the book regarding kanej. It's an amazing edit, thank you for effort!
