    Not only are the Grapevine videos captivating, but the videography of the scenery is top rate, the drone shots in particular. And Hannah Jane is a very pretty woman, not to mention a fun host!

    This was one of the best COVID
    cast!
    I am disabled, living in Iceland since 2016 and need to buy a wheelchair.
    But as soon as I do I am going to see Iceland.
    I love waterfalls.
    Oh and I have COVID atm.

  • @retireeelectronics2649

    Very nice. In British Columbia, Canada, April 2020 you would see cars parked on the side of the roads on Vancouver Island in the middle of nowhere. People just found any trail or logging road to head out and see the wilderness. Was easy to keep social distancing and meet the wildlife, preferably with a can of bear spray in the pocket just in case. Iceland is on my to do list.

    Icelanders do travel in Iceland. The increasing tourism has on the other hand effected the locals on travel around the country. The reason for not being that many locals there at the time of filming this video, could have something to do with quarantine or isolation?

    For the last few years I heard constant, daily whimper of Icelanders about how tourism destroys the island, ruins people' daily life... Seems like their prayers have been finally answered - year 2020 is going to be calm and quiet with crumbling economy as a bonus.

    • @gonnabeok

      @Pavel Vanek Yeah, talk to these companies that have built surplus of facilities around, wild capitalism simply engulfed Iceland over the last years

    • @Starkardur

      It's a minority of people who are whimpering about how tourism destroys the island and I think the complaint is usually in regards to tourist only going to certain places instead of spreading them around.

    Hannah, You know Víðir and the intrepid trio (Alma and Þórólfur) have asked people NOT to travel, at least not in the Easter period, as that will put extra pressure on the health care system since travelling inevitably means more road accidents and sickness occurring in areas that don't have good health care coverage right now... With that said, I am frickin dying to go out and exploring...

    • @Halli50
      @Halli50 Před 4 lety +1

      There is no Þórólfur, everyone calls him Tóti...
      But you are right, this summer is when we reclaim our own country. I have not bothered to travel east of Hellisheiði for years, now is the chance.

    • @Starkardur
      @Starkardur Před 4 lety

      @@Halli50 reclaim? Yeah you have not bothered to travel east of Hellisheiði. The reason? Maybe you shouldn't claim Iceland as you haven't even bothered traveling in your own country

    • @Halli50
      @Halli50 Před 4 lety +1

      @@Starkardur, I'll have you know that I have traveled extensively in Iceland for decades and while I have slowed down a bit at my advanced age I still travel, but avoiding places that are awash with tourists. We have at least this summer to travel ourselves e.g. in the southern part of Iceland - that way we will also aid our struggling tourist industry.

    I don't don't think you should have made this video now, when people are asked to stay at home. Besides that, I don't really like your vocabulary. Everything is 'insane'. That's just my personal opinion.

    • @eva2110
      @eva2110 Před 4 lety

      @@professorbatty6850 isn't that insane? I follow the Reykjavik Grapevine from Switzerland because of my Icelandic friends. Truly, I was very polite, maybe I shouldn't have been. Why are YOU so aggressive? I find that.. oh, well...

    • @eva2110
      @eva2110 Před 4 lety

      I followed it since Bìrna's murder (the website), and I found a lot of information about what is going on in Iceland in general and because it's in English. I liked it, it's totally insane.

    • @eva2110
      @eva2110 Před 4 lety +1

      @@professorbatty6850 there is no way I could do that as my pension is as much as the minimum salary. Hannah uses words I don't appreciate in this context. There would be many other POSITIVE words that could be used to describe the beauty of Iceland. Hannah is making public videos. She is expressing herself in public - worldwide. She should be a little bit aware that someone might be critical about them. Btw. I didn't say anything critical about the context of the video, but only about language. Insane is a word associated to mental health. May she stay safe, and inside and put nobody in danger. I apologise for not appreciating her choice of words to express her appreciation of the beauty of this spectacular place. I'm sorry to tell her that there are way more beautiful expressions and I'm sorry that you, Professor, are offended by the fact that I expected more from the Reykjavik Grapevine. I'm sorry to say that this place is beautiful, exceptional, amazing, wonderful, spectacular, superb, glorious, or whatever word is out there - even unbelievable. I apologise that your favourite word is one connected to insanity. All other commentators don't mind, but that seems not enough for you, you seem to need total consent. I apologise that I expected this place not to be called insane. I am sorry that I think words are important, even if you're making an effort to show the unique and spectacular beauty of Iceland. All other comments on this page are fine. I apologise for having unintentionally been disappointed. I apologized for being insane enough to care about words. It's better that I cancel my subscription to your channel, and continue to read only the website where you successfully find more adequate words. I love Iceland, although I'll never be able to go there and I apologise that I expected a more adequate language from your publication. I'm sorry that hannah is offended by my insanity.
