Godzilla and Zilla Argue (preview for Godzilla Gets a YT Award Part 4)

- 3 minutes of roaring and growling. This is a preview for the 4th part of the Godzilla Gets a CZcams Award animation series, just to show that I have been working on it over the past year and a half, because a lot of comments have been asking about it. Most of this scene was animated about a year ago. At around the halfway mark, you may notice that I changed the compositing style and began adding more shadows.
Some of it might change for when the full video is complete, so consider all of this preliminary. There's a few shots I want to redo.
Ironically, this scene wasn't even planned, I just wanted Godzilla and Zilla to say a couple lines to each other and leave, but their argument kept getting longer and more elaborate, and I spent months figuring out the dialogue and their viewpoints. At different points I wanted both of them to simply leave in frustration and postpone the argument, but that didn't feel right. This isn't a physical match where Godzilla would demolish Zilla under seconds, it's a verbal confrontation where both participants dump years of frustration on each other. Let them talk.
A lot of fans don't like the dragged-out talking scenes on Godzilla films, they only watch the monster bits. Well, this is both. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I love how this series went from Godzilla thinking he got a play button from YT when it was actually Rodan and Anguirus to a full-on and pretty accurate philosophical conversation and critique about the Kaiju film genre and a majority of the Godzilla fandom as a whole
this made me just remember that "Godzilla Gets a YT Award" started with Godzilla thinking he won a CZcams award.

I really like how Godzillas comment on Zilla not being needed obviously got through to him, because he very much is the only Godzilla that the fanbase collectively decided they didn't need.

You can tell Godzilla went through some character development. He's actually making considerable arguments against zilla instead of whining and spewing nonsense every time zilla talks trash about his fandom. I actually can't believe some of godzilla's statements ALMOST got to zilla.
On top of that, Zilla is a lot less smug this time around as a result of that.
Some even getting him and he just doesn't wanna admit it so he goes deeper

I know everyone’s focused on Zilla’s quips, but Godzilla did make a couple good points here, mainly about how Zilla’s attempt at being smug made him contradict himself a few times, or how Toho rejected him as a version of Godzilla.
Funny enough he's still considered as Godzilla when he's shown in Toho's anniversaries and merchandise sales. They reject him but when it's time for profiting he's called Godzilla.

What I love about this series is how it’s both a genuine critique of the kaiju genre and fandom, and also shows so much love and care for said genre.
I like that at 2:36 Godzilla actually has a somber expression for a split second, showing that he does take Zilla's view on things into account but doesn't want to show it. Lizard went from a immature spoilt adult brat to somone actually quarter decent.
It’s poetic because the kaiju genre is a facet of tokusatsu which is grounded in drama. So in a way this is kaiju media in its rawest form. I never thought I’d be so enthralled but here I am.
Zilla wining the mental battle against Godzilla needs to be a mainstay in this series. Though similar to the G man I think it would be cool if Zilla got his animated series variant to morph into to do some actual ass kicking

I’m pretty sure it’s Toho who needs him. He is kind of their Mickey Mouse. Plus there’s bound to be a good number of film companies that would love to have Godzilla. Unless Zilla was referring to Goji needing people to make his films. Now that is philosophical since Godzilla’s presence as a destroyer is defined by mankind’s greed.

Zilla absolutely destroying Godzilla with words needs to become canon to the series. He may not be able to destroy Godzilla physically but he can still win against him mentally.
It's even canon. If you watch Zilla Jr. in the animated series, you'll see he's actually really smart and uses his big mutated lizard brain to solve problems, like when he freed the Loch Ness Monster's child, or the multiple times he surprised his opponents by burrowing underground and popping up behind them. Zilla Jr. might've gotten his smarts from Zilla Sr.
Remember that time Godzilla faced off against a psychic powered girl and still won. Zilla us really smart, but Godzilla is too and you will need a lot to break him mentally.

Haha... first off, yes, I agree - watching the monster bits is the best part of any G-film. It's funny to see them argue like this because were the monsters real film stars, you have to think a conversation/argument like this would come along eventually. I think it's hilarious too how you keep changing the Toho Godzilla from version to version.
Zilla smoking a cigar is the coolest thing i've seen today.
(But smoking destroys your lungs, don't smoke guys, unless you're a giant mutated iguana who already breathes fire anyway)
I appreciate how this was more of a back-and-forth than a full-on, one sided roasting session. Not that the latter wasn't an entertaining one!
Lets us see snippets to different sides to these characters.
And the animation is top tier, as always! Only begun to dapple in it myself and, the more I learn, the more impressive these vids are.
Finally, after a whole year, we got a preview of part 4.
Godzilla 1998 is 2 days older than I am, I’ve watched that movie over and over my entire life, my favorite Godzilla of them all, and I need him, if no one else will
You know when Zilla said Normal People, I assume he means the general audience. Which is kind of when his arguments start falling appart as like Godzilla fans, the general audience will also watch anything.
This argument felt really real, unlike the previous ones where its more so just zilla being smug. Of course zilla still had a bit of that smugness but I feel like in a sense that adds to the realism of the argument.

I actually started Singular Point and enjoy it so far, five episodes in. I'm aware Godzilla is more of an approaching threat, Jaguar is more the star, Godzilla goes through phases and there is a lot of science talk. But so far really enjoyable.

I've said this before, and I'll say it again: 1998 Godzilla isn't bad. Key word being "Godzilla." The tv show showed us what would have happened if they did the movie right. Unfortunately, they decided not to do that and went a different path. But unfortunately, because of negativity, the planned trilogy was cancelled ( if anyone wondered where that "Queen Bitch" came from, she was the planned antagonist in tbe second movie), and like in the show, Godzilla would've had missle immunity and atomic breath. Now on the other hand, i do understand what Emerich was trying to do. He wanted to make a original Godzilla. Key word being "Original." It didn't act like the traditional Godzilla because it wasn't supposed to be a traditional Godzilla. Unfortunately, people get pissy about something not being up to their standards. Well, I've got news for everyone: 98 Godzilla is the best thing to happen to the fandom and toho. The movie makes more sales worldwide than any other, and continues to do so to this day. And on top of that, this movie is literally almost everyone's introduction to the King of the Monsters. You can't deny that a whole generation (including myself) grew up with this guy, snd i absolutely love the character. Its times like these where i wonder ..... why do people get so pissy about dumb shit like "it doesn't look like Godzilla " when Godzilla is LITERALLY A GIANT DINOSAUR WITH SPIKES ON ITS BACK
True, my first Godzilla movie was 1998's Godzilla, I actually watched the Animated Series a few years later and loved it. The design of Zilla was great as well and still is stuck with me. Also I feel like if Godzilla 1998 wasn't made, it'd likely result in the newer Western Godzilla films never existing or just being something else entirely. All Godzilla films were Japanese, though in America they'd be dubbed, so we originally had no Western Godzilla movie, mainly just Japanese Godzilla films.
Heck just go to the list of Godzilla movies via Wikizilla and notice the very first Godzilla film to appear for the Hollywood section is Godzilla 1998. It definitely made a impact regardless of the hate towards it.

What I really love about Zilla is despite him being a cheap "wanna-be" godzilla incarnate, he still wants to have his seat at the table of kings and be treated as an equal. And despite him not being able to physically beat Godzilla, he can beat him mentally.

Always keep in mind: Toho made clear what they thought about "Zilla": in Final Wars he was stomped in less then 40 seconds, in a throw-away fashion. The shortest of all of Godzilla's fights in that movie.
The director said that fight wasn't true to his vision, it was going to be longer but they were forced to cut it down because of budget and time reasons. Also, Hedorah's defeat in that film was much worse, but that doesn't mean Toho hated Hedorah.
