    Excuse me, but I'm Spanish and always have lived in Benidorm and Spanish driving is nowhere near to reckless. In fact (I know it isn't representative of all British people), the British people who come to Benidorm for their hen/stag parties and get really drunk, I think is another thing one should beware. The fact that there is no need for traffic lights at some zebra crossings, reflects that pedestrians have full priority. Nobody is going to run over anybody else. Apart from the other scams, Benidorm is a totally safe tourist destination.

      Blame the bar owners and all including hotels not the punters! The Spanish complain about drinkers but they are happy to take the money! I don't drink myself and I'm well travelled and what I've witnessed on my travels is the Germans are the worst drinkers ,they even have a few beers with their breakfast and drink all day! Yes I agree that alot of Brits just go on holiday for the piss up! Benidorm caters for these people so throw tge blame on them!

    Hi Asa 👋 ive just been watching the whole Benidorm series yes all 10 series. I love to watch you sing. I took my family to Sol Pelicanos Ocas last Easter 2019. We had just 1 day if sunbathing and then the micro climate heavens opened all week😭😭😭it ruined the holiday for my two daughters aged 17 and 12. They were looking forward to going on the beach and round the pool. And I took on a part time job the previous year to work hard to save all the money to go all inclusive. Damn that weather. I'm bipolar so the sun and rest really helps me cope. 🥴Oh well time to save hard again and hopefully get a good week next time we go.

    • @sydmichel
      @sydmichel Před 3 lety +10

    • @oldbloke135
      @oldbloke135 Před 2 lety

      @@sydmichel That is the main purpose, to rob the people standing watching who would "never fall for such an obvious scam"! Sometimes a "helpful passer by" will warn everyone that pickpockets are about, so everyone instinctively feels for their wallet, then the pickpockets know where they are. Last thing to note is that even though the pea men are always fairly dark skinned locals, a lot of their pickpocket assistants AREN'T. They look just like English tourists.

    This goes on everywhere.Even when people come to London.Its human nature to con and scam their way thru life.At times it's nice to go somewhere further afield from the bigger cities,towns,and be surrounded by decent folk.

      Dont knock it, it has something for everyone. Lovely beach, nice restaurants or cheap chips, nice hotels, cheap apartments, 24 hour bars, drink and dance til daylight, an early night, strippers, prostitutes, quiet places, loud places, tea dances, lap dances, gay bars, slappers, drugs.
      Numerous types of holiday available. Family holiday, singles holiday, couples holiday, gay holiday, stag or hen holiday, down and dirty, party, quiet, loud, tribute acts, any kind of music, cheap booze, expensive booze, depends on what you are looking for.
      Oh, and not forgetting Sticky Vicky, or rather her daughter now she's in her 70s. Ladies of remarkable talent.

    great info, thanks Asa, we found that the popular purple cashpoints are best as no mark up or commision, you get less than going rate but not to bad, also people should be aware, especially with Benidorm festival coming up which means many exchanges will be closed, do not go to pakistani shop to exchange money as it is illigal and they we will rip you off, we got caught and they tried to do us for £30 euro

    • @oldbloke135
      @oldbloke135 Před 2 lety

      Use ATMs at banks. Then you get the proper commercial exchange rate. You'll still get fleeced by your own bank, who think sending a few bytes down a wire is worth a fiver, but since Nationwide stopped free foreign withdrawals there is nothing you can do about that. It's still cheaper than any exchange.

      Try the North West Coast regions, La Carruna, El Ferrol, Santiago De Castilla and such! Great Rioja wine and of course seafood! Much cheaper than the 'Brit traps' of the South East Costas!

    What I can never understand about the pea men scammers is how the local police just let them get away with it. Don’t they ever use police in plain clothes in Spain? If they did, they’d surely stamp this out quickly. Or, is it a case of it isn’t Spanish people who get conned and only foreigners? Pickpockets are rife at the Sunday Market btw. Don’t be fooled either, my mum (who is nearly 91) spotted one in action and alerted the man who was about to be robbed, said the robber in question looked older than her!
