Looking back at this rivalry commercial, it really was a crazy time when great consoles were at a war. As someone who grew up with the SNES but still played Genesis games and no matter how many times I do play Super Mario World and Sonic 1, I don't have a definite side. Genesis may have Blast Processing, lower cost, and a decent larger library, but you can't beat the overall quality the Super NES had when Nintendo was at its prime. Loved both consoles and missed the '90s.
Use be competion so had actually try! Now all companies and damn monopolies, don't half to try anymore! To make a good product!
Sega liked to drive the point of Sonic's speed, but the game all but punishes you for using it.
Blast Processing : D It was regular Motorola 68000 CPU. And blast processing was made up thing that did not exist, only for commercials.
I know right I had Nintendo myself and super Nintendo but when I got the genesis I never went back to Nintendo again

@@snichelsticks8653 its less about the law and more about conpanies generally having a stick up their ass when it comes to fair use. comparative advertising falls under fair use today, but if a game explicitly compares itself to another game in advertising (especially nintendo) theyll get a lawsuit. and even though they are legally in the right and would probably win the case, that case will get dragged thru court and cost a LOT of money. From a business standpoint it just saves time and money to keep other companies games out of your mouth when advertising your own.
This is a great commercial I love both Mario and sonic though I’m leaning more towards sonic since his game series has a lot more story ideas but I can respect super Mario for giving me a positive influence as a kid
Mario has a theme park land,while right now Sonic doesn't. But HOPEFULLY this will inspire SEGA to make theirs.

I bought the Genesis when it dropped to $149.99. Bought it with Spider-man Vs. Kingpin and Joe Montana Sports Talk Football.
I am convinced: After over 30 years we have actually no idea, what "16 Bit" stands for, but 16 is more than 8 and that makes it better.
So bit refers to the size of data used in input and output (like pipes) of a computers brain (called the CPU) and it's related hardware. They are used for game logic, drawing images/sprites and colours and controller inputs. Thus the more bits the more things can happen in a game and more complex games you can make.
In the past we really only had the CPU doing all the hard work.
Now it doesn't matter because we have specialised chips to do certain tasks e.g. GPU = Graphic Card for drawing graphics on a screen. NPU = chip for Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning tasks like what chess move to perform, and of course the good old CPU which is the brain of everything has less work these days.

The Sega fanboys back in the 90's were the WORST. "Sega is better than Nintendo because it has better graphics!" Graphics alone do NOT equal "better". I even remember telling them that back in the day, but their response was ALWAYS the same, "No, Sega is better because it has better graphics!" SMFH. Don't get me wrong, I liked both Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo, but they both had their pros and cons. Nevertheless, the Sega fanboys were damn annoying back then! Just saying.

@Xanatos21 - Let me guess: You had a NES when the Genesis came out, and it was your pure frustration to realize you friends were right. Don't worry, I had a Master System, when I played SNES first time, and I knew, the SNES blew my Master System out of the window. But I continued on Genesis then.

Great commercial. Luckily for me I grew up playing both SNES and Genesis. While there are a lot of things I like about Genesis though I definitely preferred SNES with the better controller and generally better games like Mario, Zelda, Kirby, Metroid and more. Sega had Sonic and a few others but besides Sonic they didn't stand out as much to me

Nintendo weren't pussies back then, rivalling Sega and just making some random stuff for no reason.

Both are fantastic especially for snes for its golden era on RPG games and sega for its platforming games but nowadays with loads of homebrews on the genesis i seem to love genesis more ❤❤ now

By a time the manager warn about that game, it’s already too late as they choose sonic over mario, as for me, i have a taxman & stealth version of sonic 1 & 2, just like the genesis, but faithful.
The point of Sonic 1's level design is to earn your speed. It's specifically designed to be played over and over again so a player can get better at it and plan ahead. And Marble Zone and Labyrinth Zone were thrown in on the assumption that players would get overwhelmed by a game that was just non-stop speed. (Yuji Naka actually got motion sickness from early builds of Sonic 1 because it was sooooo fast, so I kindof see where they're coming from)
