I’ve been using the heated razor for a while and I honestly love it so much. I know a lot of people crap on Gillette and say this is a total gimmick but it’s one of the best shaves ever imo. Great video Ken.

I feel as long as the razor isn't scorching hot it works the same either way warm or cold. That's just me and my skin though 🤗 I feel the technique is more of a deciding factor.

Great video Ken… this is one gimmicky razor (Gillette doing their thing 😏) where the gimmick actually feels bloody amazing and works!!! Expensive but an experience for sure. To change the setting to warm, you gotta keep the button pressed for a couple of seconds while it’s on ‘on hot’ and vice-versa to switch the heat. I reviewed this bad boy (regular edition) last year and loved it too. Love your review mate 😎👍🏽🙏🏼

Sure this is a gimmick but if you're with team Gillette then you're going to try it.
I find that a DE razor under warm tube somewhat hot water will accomplish the same thing.
At the end a BBS shave is a BBS shave. I have shaved with all of Gillette razors and to one degree or another I love them all.

Discovered one thing...the blades for the Gillette Exfoliating razor are the same as for this heated razor! The only difference is the color! You can purchase those blades at your local Wal-Mart, Target, local pharmacy, etc. They do come with hefty price tag though, usually around $25 for a pack of 4. Thanks for reviewing this razor!

I like the R41 because it allows me to get away with one pass. If I've skipped a few days, one pass and clean up gets me smooth enough. DE is better now than it's ever been because we have all these new razor designs, and so many blade and soap choices.

I could not agree more with you. As a matter of fact, I actually used my R41 today on a three-day beard, and got a perfect one-pass shave. This may sound like overkill, but if I do a two-pass shave, I will use the R41 for the 1st pass, and a Gillette Super Speed for the across-the-grain pass. Leaves me with an irritation-free BBS shave. Take care,,, Rob 🙂

Regardless of the price it's pretty cool and really enjoyed the video. With the cost of the heated blades it wouldn't be a daily shave for most who buy it (or are gifted) but I'm sure it's going to be nice to treat yourself to a heated shave from time to time. Great video as usual Ken, it was worth the three month wait! Cheers

I’m telling you right now I hate most canned shave gel but the Gillette labs shave gel is sooooooo good! It smells good! It doesn’t irritate my face at all. It has some nice menthol. And it doesn’t leave my face sticky at all and is easy to wash off. It’s better than most shave gel in my opinion. But honestly I understand using shave soap. I definitely understand why it’s technically better. The Gillette labs rapid foaming shave gel just has a few less ingredients than your cheapy shave gels which is better for the skin and has vitamin b3 and sea kelp. I usually do a 2 pass with my Gillette labs exfoliating razor for a nice smooth shave!

Did you know that the Gillette exfoliating blades will interchange with the heated blades? They are a little cheaper and easier to come by. I went ahead and bought myself 16 of them on Amazon. As I mostly shave with double edge razors, I could see these lasting me for several years. Enjoy!

Your remark about the prices of d.e. blades in contrast to cartridges is a big reason why I have not yet bought a new set of cartridges for Gillette Sensor Excel's handle. For the ~$30 price of the package of cartridges, that is about the price of a nice double edge razor.

You haven't found a d blade that I do under your nose? Are you doing it right I mean there's only one way to do that.
You get a Merkur adjustable razor and you set it on nine and the blade literally sticks out like a straight razor. You will be able to get any hair on your body with that. Pretty damn aggressive razor on high.
Try that razor with a Lab series cream and Gillette Blue blades made in either Japan or Romania.

Great video and cool looking razor, Ken. Was expecting it to vibrate for that price. I can’t use cartridges with pivot heads that don’t vibrate- they catch, skip and tug on my beard. I was kinda shocked how you made so many long strokes between rinses (like a DE)- for me that would clog and dull the blades super quick. While I definitely won’t buy it- Glad it works for you. Enjoy!

Also…I cannot get a close enough shave with the Gillette Exfoliating Bar Razor…not even on my neck which is much less coarser hair…I actually broke out in a mild staff infection on my neck from constantly trying to shave closer…still had a little less than a 1/4” length left.
Both the Mach 3 Turbo and Proglide with the “Chill” blades are my favorites and give me the smoothest and closest shaves ever. I alternate between the 2 as any 5 bladed razor will eventually start irritating my face and start giving me bumps.

Saying that you get less irritation shaving that way. (I'm not sold on that idea) Yet, here is Gillette with their R&D department coming up with a heated razor. Go figure. @Kensurfs. This is just gimmicky lol tbh it's the same thing you can do with shaving scuttle mug that stay's long period of warm water throughout with putting shaving brush in-there and apply to the area you wish to shave. Area that you put in the shaving brush still stays 110-125* Fahrenheit. Shaving scuttle mug lost it's period of warm water to room temperature 2hrs apart become 80-85* Fahrenheit. I, mean who shave 2hours? unless you shaving all things including all body parts, then yes replace every 1hours pour hot water again 140-150* Fahrenheit. It's way cheaper than new Gillette Heated Razor $100-$200 bucks

Got a Badger hair brush for 15 dollars. 16 oz of Clubman aftershave for about 12 dollars... I'm set up to shave for nearly a year easy for under a 100 dollars with money left to yet spend. Those blades look like they would need the brush you showed in one of your last videos to help clean them. Instructions are for quitters. Any of those multi-blades although they give me a nice shave leave me with razor bumps and in grown hairs. Glad I switched to DE blades from watching CZcamsrs like yourself.

    • @misterlexx2721
      @misterlexx2721 Před 2 lety +1

That maybe because you are not using a sensitive skin shave gel such as the Gillette sensitive skin shave gel. Multi blade cartridges are not ideal with foam or cream. They go best with shave gel especially those sensitive skin ones. I was having terrible wire brush neck with lots of painful ingrown hairs and I was on the verge of trying out classic de razor shaving but then a friend recommended the shave gel. With a shave gel , you don't need to shave with warm water, you can shave cold because the gel does the softening and lubricating of tough stubble making it super and effortless for the blades to slice through with no irritation. The proglide and mach 3 turbos are great cartridges. Ps. Cold water preserves the edge of your blades on the cartridge. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
