I've used janky old ones that are blunt af for craft paper and they still work well. They don't have to be really sharp for paper since it doesn't stretch. I used to just use my ruler to tear paper all the time. It kinda helps that it's that super heavy gift wrap too.
Cut the Cello tapes first. Get a BIG Bowl with small raised bottom. Cut small tapes and stick a small part of the edge, going around the bowl, until full. Then get to wrapping. When you need a tape, just get 1.
Better quality paper absolutely helps! The dollar store stuff is so thin and fragile, creases when the wind blows... I used some this year that was so sturdy, we were able to remove the tape, and it still looked neat enough to be used again next year.
I had a friend who was raised to be as frugal as possible. Christmas paper was reused, as were Christmas cards, parts strategically cut for resending. No one who knew her took offense, it was just the way she was raised. Because if you were in need she would empty her bank account to help.
@@JW1_1 😅 I am pretty good wrapping too, but there’s some hard shapes to wrap, so I would say 60% of the time I am just as frustrated as Richard is with wrapping😅
My principal growing up, required every grade teacher to hold one “life lesson” class a week. He was the best. In 2nd grade we learnt how to wrap gift and I never forgot. I really wish more schools did things like this, I was shown gift wrapping, how to balance a check book, tie a tie and so many other things. Now my 8 year old learns none of these things at school and it makes me sad that kids didn’t get the same experience I did.
That's the new trending shit apparently! My auntie has done that for decades though. She doesn't need tape and just uses really thick paper and wool/jute string or textile bows that can be ironed after use. She perfected the wrapping game! 🤩
Absolutely. You get that Dollar Tree wrapping paper and you just thought you have cussed in years past!!! That Dollar Tree paper is thinner than toilet paper and always brings out the most cuss words per gift wrapped!!! 😂😂😂
I have always loved wrapping presents, even when I was a child. From 1978 -1988 I worked in a China shop in our local town, we didn't use bags just had a large role of brown paper behind the counter. We'd tear off a suitable amount like shown in this video, but we didn't tape every fold just a piece in the middle to hold it in place then fold the ends as shown here and tape the last triangle.
I learned from my mom when I was a kid ( decades ago LOL) Yes three pieces of tape, wrapped just like that and even with very cheap wrapping paper. It's easy.
Worked in a shop for 9 years. My first christmas I wasn't allowed to wrap when we were busy due to being too slow🙈 my last few years I was usually put to wrapping. The speed he has would def be commented on😅 plus all square/rectangular shapes are the easiest! If you can't get gift bags, get a box😁 if the box is a bit big, then fill the remaining space with extra silk tissue paper😅
I can do the same wrap job with only 3 pieces of tape. My mom taught me to wrap gifts when I was young. My wife could beautifully wrap a gift in about 30 seconds, it was amazing to watch!!
@user-qs2vb4yv3t nah ur not cheap, I've done that before, the gift bags I got from amazon are like Christmas sacks, u put the gift in, pull the ribbon and tie and ur good to go.
Old school Hudson's and Penney's wrapping counters training taught us to NEVER tape the paper to the gift. That was the 1st, middle, and last, rule. Next, the guests should never see the tape. So one would: 1. Section a length of tape 3 times. 2. Roll it on to itself. 3. Then place the tape at both ends and in the middle (depending on how large the package is, more rolled tape may be needed). 4. Bring up the edge, that he folded under in the vid, on top of the first edge that he secured to the package. If you hold each end of the paper firmly enough, the paper will not slide around. The tape should only be used unrolled of there will be over lapping that will cover the section with unrolled tape. Now we have double sided tape so rolling the tape is unnecessary. Also we used bone folders for crisp edges when folding.
I used to work for JCPenneys and the ladies in the gift wrapping department were totally awesome. It truly is a craft that has to be studied in order to be perfected. Mediocre wrapping was not to be accepted and the customers were always satisfied and in awe of their lovely gift-wrapped presents.

It’s not difficult. I wrapped my presents as a teen and child. I’m so good at it. It just measures out perfectly when you fold the side corners in. You can prep your tape and line it on something before you start wrapping.

Tip 2 for when the other side (like it was in the video) is too long: when you pull the paper only up to the middle of the product you can then fold the spare paper in half and meet almost exactly the middle of the package Tip 3: when the paper is waaay too long on where the short sides are supposed to be after you secured the paper with tape on the longside just press the paper on each of the short sides together about 1-2 fingers wide on where the edges of the package are. It will create a straight line and that way you know exactly how much of the spare paper you can cut off without cutting off too much. Tip 4: make sure to always fold all edges very well, go over them on the short sides with your nails Tip 5: make sure you wrap it rather tightly without much air space
