    There is fire on the mountain... It took the lives of innocent Nigerians for reforms to start in NPF. Just for the records, there are youths unjustly imprisoned or waiting trial in custody, not because they where guilty or been investigated but because they did not comply with the financial demands made by the officers. They are then deliberately incriminated to force them to comply or to discourage them from fighting back legally. It is well

    Lagos State Govenor should be congratulated for identifying with the oppressed and showing a aense of urgency in addeessing the issues at hand. But more needs to be done. Nigeria must return to a civilised society where the rule of law applies to all and sundry. Anything short of that will be unacceptable.

    What people want is total police reform in Nigeria. Police brutality has been in existence for decades. What the government needs to do is to hold the police accountable for their action. Be seen to prosecute and imprison errand police officers regardless of their rank. Policing is a service to the populace and not an instrument of oppression. Moreover change the name to Nigeria police service and remove the word FORCE. from that name because the word Force implies brutality oppression, impunity extortion bribery, and dictatorship.

  • @cocolacecoco4200
    @cocolacecoco4200 Před 3 lety

    What the protesters should demand?
    1. Sack of the IGP
    2. Medical and Life insurance policy for all Nigerians.A law should be made to back this.
    3. Set up of an independent body to look into abuse of power from Public officers in all states.i.e Police,Military,Customs,Civil servants,VIO etc
    4. Public officers abuse of power and compensation Act 2020/2021 should be made into law.
    5. Release of Innocent SARS and police detainees.
    6. Regional police force who understand the culture and language of the people.
    7. Orientation course for officers posted to other zones should undergo:South west,Yoruba culture and society,South East;Ibo culture and society.
    Etc
    8.Firing squad for erring SARS offficials as punishment for armed robbery.
    If the Govt cant do all these,it means the brutality could be worse in future.

This tendency to exonerate senior officials from the actions of their "boys" does not serve us well as we look to achieve decency and accountability in all governing spaces of our country.
