    PRetty decent considering a smallish cam.
    love the super turbo exh note, too. Nothing like a solid lifter cam on the st.
    Can tell the armchair racer comments below dont understand whats going on here.

      Thank you Gordo. I don't sweat it. Not everyone understands or has seen the difference in dynos and performance by all the different transmission, drivetrain and tire and wheel combos. I have been doing this for a long time, but I can see how it might look to someone who has not.

    Why are you running a carb when injection is one of the best reasons to ls swap? Or have you changed over since then? Also what was the rest of the set up?

      I get this question a lot. It went like this: When I first got into LS engines, I was trying to make this a simple build that I could tune myself. I was very good with carburetors and I loved the simplicity of the MSD box. So, I was kind of doing what I knew at the time. I felt like I was keeping it simple. Once I had some success with that formula, I saw no reason to change on subsequent build versions of this car. For me, it worked and I had tons of fun with the project.

    Zero down side to the bigger one.

    looks like the gains were from using a bigger cam. would have been nice to see what the difference would have been with cams with the same specs.

      If you take out the lash of cam it is about the same as hydraulic. You have to account for the valve lash

      Given the cam specs id say thats a Lq4 or lq9 truck engine and the power looks right. But what is with the small cam choice on the solid roller? Racing Regulation?

    • @camshaftsteve
      @camshaftsteve  Před 8 měsíci

      That would be a fun test. I have threatened to do a back to back test many times, but never got around to it. In my opinion, it was a little of both. A little bit of the specs and a little bit of the inherent power advantage of solid roller.

    • @camshaftsteve
      @camshaftsteve  Před 8 měsíci

      Not quite. The Solid still had more net duration and more net lift than the hydraulic did. But, you are right, on this low lash, you would subtract about 4.5 degrees of duration to make up for the lash used by solid lifters.@@tamanko21

    • @camshaftsteve
      @camshaftsteve  Před 8 měsíci +1

      No regulation. The limiting factors on duration were piston to valve clearance and for lift a reasonable lift for good valve spring durability on the street.@@drewnashty

    Nice numbers, are you still using the same heads as before? If so, did you have to flycut your pistons?

    • @camshaftsteve
      @camshaftsteve  Před 9 lety

      Derrick Canzater Same heads and no fly cutting. I created these cam specs to fit without flycutting.

      speedtigger Not bad bout a 10lb tq advantage throughout, should make for an extra 100 ft lb to the tire

      @@FirstLast-tx3yj Ported 799 casting cathedral port heads with stock valves. This was the first engine in the car. That engine was sold and was replaced by a stroker engine.

    You left the same springs in the heads ??

    • @camshaftsteve
      @camshaftsteve  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, the same popular .660" valve springs. They did the job just fine, but would have struggle on a cylinder head with heavier valves. If I were to do it again, I would use a spring with about 30 to 40 pounds more open pressure.
