The Real Reason Jon Snow Found Ghost!? - A Song of Ice and Fire (Theory)

- Welcome back for another A Song of Ice and Fire theory video. As you all know, I am currently making videos on each chapter from each book in ASOIAF. Today, I want to continue discussing the scene where the Starks find the direwolves in the late summer snows. What really happened that day? What is the real reason Jon Snow found Ghost? I think there are a few different options. Since it was Bran Stark's POV chapter, I think he may have assisted Jon in this discovery. But let me know what you think. Leave your thoughts down below. Thanks for watching!

It’s the thousand blades of Aegons enemies!!!! Never gets old!!!

"Chaos is a ladder"
RRRR
The wind stood still and the silenced roar. Rhaegar stood in
balance and grew once more. Preparing for the battle to come. Baratheon warg
and the earth shook. Battle arms ready my lords. Everyone in the halls stared
in awe. Both Rhaegar and Baratheon squaring off. Rhaegar swing his sword and
sang a song.-Danilo Antonio
“The story we agreed to tell each other, over and over till we forget that its lie.”
I think it's just his psychic tie to Ghost. He 'heard" Ghost in his mind, even if he just heard his presence, no specific noise.
Mr. Thrones, thank you for bringing the great parts of GOT back to life.
Thank you for ridin with me
What does this have to do with GOT? This ASOIAF material... some of it is from A!!! Game of Thrones... but not the shite tv show.
@@TalkingThrones I've a question... I'm half way through storm of swords: steel and snow. U say that Jon was already able to enter ghost's mind since he has opened his red eyes... But so far the Starks could warg only when they're asleep and dreaming (even bran so far until what I've read)
Also I believe it’s very very very important that after Bran came back and said “my father is still alive”, then Leaf says “NEVER RAISE THE DEAD”....
I have always felt John mentally heard Ghost from his Warging abilities. I realize the show did not go into that aspect, I was very disappointed in that, however in the books it is very much explored. I do believe the mother dire wolf was sent to the Starks as well. Thanks for the video. I miss the videos and discussions on ASOIAF.
I do not believe Bran sent them from the future. It was either/or Blood Raven/Children
Whats jons warging abilities? I'm yet to read the books
Talking thrones lives in GRR’s head rent free
Lol
When he asked about what we think at the end of each video, I think whatever you want me to think my dude. You're the expert. 🙌🏼
Lmao. I'm still in training. I need to keep reading.
Your theories are never too far fetched in my opinion. I think Bloodraven influenced these events to ensure Bran's eventual becoming the 3 eyed raven
You are correct.
Man I have to give you credit for sticking with this, going with the books was a good call .
All I can see is Osha and Bran in the Godswood. The wind rustling in the trees, and Osha says to Bran, "Open your ears boy." She's telling him the old gods are speaking to him.
the scene with Osha is exactly what i was thinking of when bran says he can only hear the wind.
In the books, Bran only can go to the past if there is a hart tree there... when jon found Ghost, was there a weirwood?
In short Bran is the time traveller.....just someone go to the past and whisper in the ears of D&D to not spoil season 8.
Please leave the garbage tv show out of ASOIAF discussions.
This proves that Bran has been influencing past, present and future events all along. He and Blood Raven are playing the game of thrones using everybody as pawns.
Well... at least in the show. But I think/hope time travelling will not happen in the books. It's (even in a magical world) too complicated and unrealistic. It just creates plot holes and inconsistencies.
I always thought the fact that Ghost is an albino is in fact a sign of John being a Targeryan (who are always albinos)
Only Brynden Rivers. I correlate it more with being a bastard of House Stark. Sigil colors are reversed for bastards. If Jon took a Stark sigil it would be a white wolf on a grey field.
They aren’t albinos they just have silver hair and fair skin not white and their eye are different shades of purple.
I wouldn't say they're albinos. In the books it mentioned repeatedly that they have blonde hair only that it's so fair it appears like silver especially in the sun.
Though I guess a lot of the world art shows them having basically white hair ...
It’s definitely Bloodraven trying to influence Jon or important characters through the animals like Ghost or Jeor Mormont’s Raven that really changes peoples mind and Ghost influenced Jon’s decision to decline Stannis’s offer to become Lord of Winterfell.
Very good theory. I had always assumed that Jon hearing Ghost was related to Jon’s hidden potential as a warg, but this is definitely a strong counter theory.
Love your content Talking Thrones, this was a great theory and I believe it was blood raven who was behind Jon finding ghost. I also think he was the reason ghost found those dead nights watch men that turned into wights, I think Blood raven wanted the nights watch and Jon to know about the others and I believe blood raven used ghost so that Jon could find those dragon glass weapons when they were beyond the wall.
Oh, 100%
I think the wolves were linked "telepathically " to their owners. Arya, Bran, Rickon, and Jon had wolf dreams. Arya had dreams of Nymeria while she was Bravos.
Thank you for all your videos. I've been following you from the beginning of time. I enjoy every video you make. Please continue.
I love the "What happens in the book" series soooo soooo much ❤️
I was looking for something exactly like that thank you so much man 🙏💙❤️🔥
Preston Jacobs has a playlist called what you missed where he breaks down the differences between the show and the books. They're pretty good if you've never checked them out.
So glad your back been loving these videos keep them coming 😍
I really hope Jon gains more of or better control of this stuff after resurrection
Me too! I think he will.
Talking Thrones me three
I don't think he will get ressurected properly, even if he does it will be like lady stone heart and sir beric dandarion.
GRRM is not going to write the Bran story again. I think Jon will either not come back, or he'll come back but he won't be Jon, and the real Jon will be inside Ghost, and maybe it's Ghost who controls Jon.
Thank you so very much for still making videos!! I just recently finished the series while on quarantine and I’m obsessed! I’m already on the third book and I know I’m late but I absolutely love this series and the books it helped with my anxiety with all that’s going on in the world right now... I also love hearing everyone’s theories!
I just started reading the books, and love watching your videos to get further insight into the character’s plots!
Great theory! I hope we will see more, you are doing a great job...thank you!
Your show is much better than the television version. Been supporting your channel since youve started way back few years ago. Keep it up brother. ✌️❤️
Thank you for continuing to make great ASOIAF content
Your videos have that special something bruh. Love them sure! Keep up your good work!
I’m sure Bran can communicate through the weirdwood trees. Blood raven is definitely lying and doesn’t want Bran messing things up lol thanks for this btw!
@DarriannMariee Bran can communicate through the Weirwood trees. He does it in one of the latter books. He talks to Theon when he was Reek through the weirwood tree in Winterfell's gods wood.
@@chrisbunnjr.2860 he talks to Jon as well
@@jovedo27 Sometimes I think he can even communicate through Mormont's raven, that bird is just so creepy.
I recently started to read the books, now I am literally binge reading chapter after chapter and now I am at the "A Fist For Crows" and your theories give me even more interest in continuing to do so. This quarantine is giving a lot of advantages for introverts like me who prefer reading a book than socializing with other humans.
Better than the show so far?
@@50shades91 by a lot, but there are some scenes where I think that the shows wins like Arya at Harrenhal, Daenerys in Qarth, The way John got to the wildlings and more, but overall the books wins
@@katgor42 I might start reading them 🤔
You are a wonderful storyteller and I can’t wait for the next episode!!!
Just finished rewatching the series! Gonna start the books!
How’d it go
I think Bran had influenced more events than we know, including that interaction with Jon.
These videos will keep my desire for the next books alive ❣️ thank you !!
Talk Time!
great video
i love your content ❤️
Always class A work
"the seed is strong" ghost could be the only White wolf because Jon is actually a Targarian.... Just a thought
The answer to the title question finally comes at about 10:49. I almost tapped out from all the repetition.
Bran talking to Jon through Weirwood net while Jon was with Qhorin in skirling pass, is recalled by Bran in ACoK Chapter 69.
This is a great theory!!
Awesome video !!👍🏼
Can you make a video of characters being both good and bad ...suggesting
perhaps the white walkers might have good side to them and bran(probably Starks and targs in general)having a convoluted history or may become bad in the future (not like Season 8 though 😂)
...not very sure if there is enough to make a video ..but this is just a suggestion 🙈🙌🏻😃
I 100% agree with Bran being influencing these events from the future. Remember time works differently for the trees, and Bran is incredibly powerful. I think, though, Bloodraven is not lying to him, it’s just that he and the children don’t know what Bran is actually capable of.
Because of you I started watching the show again.
Nice conclusions!
But everytime Bran speaks to someone there's a weirwood near that person but that day they found the pups I dont recall them being near a weirwood.
Thank you so much!
I completely agree with you friend, even a little more... I think that all the wolves were put by Bran and he tried to warn about what was about to happen among the lions lannister , the Baratheon deer and the stark wolves with the corpses of those animals...
Missed your videos!
Fascinating! I still would bet on Blood Raven...but...I like this. Could be just happy to watch a talking thrones video again...haha...old times
Bloodraven is a great option.
Have you noticed a common trait in all of Bran's visions during his trip in the cave with Bloodraven ?
They all happened near the weirwood tree, leading to the conclusion that he is seeing through the weirwood.
When Jon find the Direwolf, there's no mention of one, and weirwood trees are sufficiently rare and imposing that they warrant a mention everytime we encounter one, so there likely wasn't one in the vincinity.
TL;DR : I'm not saying you're wrong, but you follow a weak trail of evidence.
The casting for house of dragon has been began!!!!! I can't wait for it to come out!!!!!!!
Great insight, thanks
Great video and exposition. I believe the rustling leaves is Bran reaching back, while Bloodraven communicates more explicitly like through the setting of the direwolf´s pups and Mormont´s raven. But also I don´t think there can be two encarnations of the Three Eye Raven. So Bran and Bloodraven may personally have different views or interests but the TER entity has the bigger plan.
I realy love this video’s !!!!!!!!!!!! Thank uuuu
I thought this was a common theory... I read AGOT in 2003, and came to think this even as young as I was. I’ve reread the books going on my 15th reread and it always seemed pretty much what was going on.
Of course it’s super important: it’s his first scene and inspired the themes!!!!
Bran could hear the wind in the trees. “Can’t you hear it?”
“What is it, Jon?”, their Lord father asked.
Halfway across the bridge, Jon pulled up suddenly. Bran was wondering what to name him. By then, his pup was snuggling inside his leather, warm against him, safe for the long ride home. It was not until they were mounted and on their way that Bran allowed himself to taste the sweet air of victory.
I think your right. I’ve been wondering why blood raven is lying to Bran. Clearly he is being heard, so why is blood raven telling him he’s not. Blood raven must know how it works and the how and the why of him being heard. But instead of explaining it and teaching Bran about it, he lies. Even if it’s not a good thing for ppl to hear you through the weirwood why not explain that so Bran will understand. How can lying possibly help the situation. I need answers.
Wowww please continue all 5 books even your breakdown is interesting
i'm lovin this theory. it would make sense. man, i wish we could start over, so we can see the story play out beat for beat. i'll take an animated feature. book by book.
I just want to Thank you so much for taking our minds back to G.O.T
I agree with all of your scenarios and idea's, You make me really revisit scenes,in my mind,I totally see how they all heard the whispers in the wind, interesting🤔.
Outstanding!
I think it's best to forget everything from the show. Read the books as if it's a brand new story. There are many subtle differences that you'll discover!
Even though the differences may be subtle, in my opinion, they have significant impact . Of course the the larger differences seem to send us reeling. It’s sad that D&D did not stick to the books . Nothing needed to be changed for dramatic effect, and there would still be original content from the books before the series ended. I hope a better job is done for the next series.
I have thought this exact same thing. I'm just now reading the books and only one the first one. I didn't know that about Theon or Jon hearing Bran at the trees. But still I thought Bran caused Jon to go back for Ghost. If you ever rode a horse across a bridge like that, you'll know how loud it is. And they would have had a bunch of horses at once. A full grown wolf wimpering wouldn't have been heard
Out of all the videos about G.O.T. out there.... yours are the only ones I like. The others I have found I dont like. They are decent vids... but you are the only one I subscribed too
People forget that all the Stark children are part warg. Jon and Arya have green dreams. In the show they don't show this much, in the books they show this more. I think Jon could hear or sense Ghost from these extra senses he has inherited.
Excellent!
I think it's because the connection between Jon and Ghost, maybe he doesn't growl or make other sounds normally, but in his mind maybe Jon heared his breathing. It maybe wrong but that's seems a better explanation for me because it points out the strong connection between the two, the relationship is beautiful between them.
A fine theory indeed.
I think Bran yelling "Father!" as Ned goes up to find his sister and baby is what influenced him to take Jon as his own and pretend to be the "father."
I always assumed it was a warg connection. Interesting!
There's also the scene in the show i believe where Osha tells Bran how to listen to the old gods.
- Wolf: Stark
- White hair and uncommonly colored eyes: Targaryen
I know there’s a huge difference between red eyes and whichever shade of purple(ish) eyes the Targaryens have in the books, but it’s too obvious and perfect of a hint at John’s true bloodline.
I’m also just now reading the books after getting into the story through the series. Kinda spoiling some things for myself by watching videos like this but I can’t help but enjoy them.
It would be great if this is how Bran confirms his ability but then Summerhall and King Arys happens.
You say it and it sounds like absolute truth. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾I'm actually expecting this to be in WoW. You've actually got the book to support your case. Somebody else says this and I'm like are you sure that it's not tinfoil. What's your reason?
Wouldn’t be awesome siting in a bar and have a conversation with him, while drinking some cold beer? Nice work bro!
🍻
Ola, like this analogy. I did think that Ned was seeing things in the water in that scene (epi 1). I haven't read any if the books. Like the videos though (it's) like hearing a book report👍 ciao 4 now!
Absolutely! Reminds me of when Osha told something similar to Bran in the show when they were by a weirwood tree (the wind are the gods whispering). Do you think Bran could have also whispered to the mad king (perhaps the Bran’s voices made him go mad)???
I think what Jon heard that made him stop as he was riding away was someone whispering a combination of the words 'Stark' and 'Snow'. Or maybe the word 'Targaryan' in the old Valerian language. Something Jon, deep down in his soul, would know was addressed to him only.
It’s so sad as I feel I’m still waiting to see the final season as I’m so disappointed with the one we were given that I chose to believe it was an internet fan theory and the real ending and all those still unanswered questions will be answered! I will in my mind see a fan theory ending that makes sense to me or I end up feeling like the whole show was ruined for me! Frustrated without answers I. Grateful to sites like yours as they give me answers!
Love talking thrones "bang on"
Some things:
I disagree with the implication that Bloodraven was warging into the dire wolves after the killing of the mother. I think setting in motion of the Starks realizing their own warging abilities and having protection was his purpose, not to baby them through every step of the journey. But I could be wrong.
Also, Osha tells Bran in the early books that the wind through the trees was the Old Gods responding to Bran’s prayers for his family’s safety, he just had to listen. Seems a pretty direct explanation of how the wind through the trees influenced Jon, who also is notably a much more attentive character in his youth
Time to Talk
I just assumed he "warged" with ghost. Basically just read his thoughts or did a pseudo version of what Bran does later on in the show.
We have no reason to think it's Bran the future.
I think with the help of BR, Jon somehow managed to get in touch, the ghost may have grown faster because of this. Open eyes is a term related to the awakening of the powers.
The last time I was this early Daenerys hadn’t forgotten Euron’s fleet yet.
Wow. I wish the show delved as deeply into the lore as you. Well, after season 5 or 6 anyway.
Jon is a warg and can sense Ghost's presence. He doesn't need psychic promptings.
I still want to see this intro in 2 yrs when 80% through book 5
Its definitely Bloodraven because there is another theory that supports this..And that is Mormonts Raven in Castle Black..The raven speaks to Jon, calls him Snow many times and in the last book calls him King..Because Bloodraven can see the past he knows that Jon is Rhaegars son, from his blood and maybe Azor Ahai..So Bloodraven is watching Jon all the time his life..
In that scene they pointed that there were no direwolves south of the Wall..Bloodraven probably warged into one and brought it where the Starks could see.
I believe Ghost eyes were open because he was the first born. I think Jon was too. Conceived before Catelyn was pregnant with Robb. Jon and Robb are the same age but we don’t know exact birthdays. Jon was at Winterfell with his wet-nurse before Cat and Robb arrived. So he was old enough to travel a long distance before Robb was.
I think he hears bran guiding him back in some way, either intentionally or inadvertently.
I'm not knocking on you at all, but this is a really popular theory thats been going on for years. InDeepGeek and Lucifer Means Lightbringer also have an excellent video about this theory. Still really good work, just an older theory. Keep doing great things, man. Again, I dont mean anything negative.
Great video again.
They were meant to have them. They find the pups after Ned beheaded a memeber of the nights watch who told them about the white walkers. Ned says "they don't belong on this side of the wall," or something like that and wanted to kill them because they would've died without their mother, so killing quikly would be an act of mercy if they wouldn't have taken the pups with the ro care for them. Jon pleeds for them and claims it is not by accident they came upon the pups. 5 pups for the real born Stark children. I waa hard to see when each of the wolf was killed, just knowing they were killed and not seeing it was sad.
Yeah sure it's possible that bran spoke to john but what if it was bloodraven himself the same day they found the direwolves. He sure is capable of doing it so if you consider he wanted the direwolves to be found in the first place he seems like the most possible canditate
Nice
What happened to your music over your Baelish intro??
If love to have a direwolf, so beautiful and so huge. A wolf with a head as big as my chest. Wow
Bran wasn't the only Stark Child who had the Warg ability. I tend to think the Targaryan's had this ability too to control the Dragons. Jon was a Stark on his Mother's side and a Targaryan on his Father's side. The Song of Ice and Fire Wiki says this about the Stark's as well. And also that Arya might have the Warg ability as well because in the books she dreams of Nymeria often. And there are hints that Rickon might have had it as well. None of them were as strong as Bran though which is why the Raven chose him. I think perhaps you are picking up on writer's similarity concepts. For instance in Tolkien all of his major heroes were all larger than normal. Aragorn was known as Strider because he was so tall and had such long legs. Many of the greatest heroes of the legends were also described as being unusually tall. Even Pippin and Merry get Ent Draughts that made them giants compared to other hobbits. Tolkien believed heroes should be "larger than life" by being larger than normal people and it showed up again and again in the stories. I think the white skin, red eyes, etc, is just a similar thing from Martin hinting at something that isn't quite normal.
bran whispered Jon to "Stannis is the rightfull king"
