@lisavice7253 Vikings had slaves...none of them were AFRICAN. This video, its content and the comments below it HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH AFRICAN BRAIDING CULTURE. This is viking braiding culture.
Takojako Mako What I do is sit before a table, so when I feel that my arms are gonna fall off and I can't take it anymore, I put my elbows down on the table. I still hold onto my hair, but for a minute or two, I can take a break like that. The more you braid your hair though, the longer you can hold up your arms.
I mean, I would definitely say this is one of the hardest braid techniques to do on yourself, so don't cry too hard! It took me months and many different takes to finally do a presentable version of this on film...
I've been watching a lot of these, and after a bit of thinking that way, I realized that intricate braids serve two purposes in a world where you don't wash your hair often: 1) keeping hair out of your face and 2) keeping unwashed hair from being too noticeable.
Dear Lord... I've learned lots and lots of braids and hairstyles thanks to you, Shannon. But I must say basket braid and 5 strand braid are the most challenging to me. I'll try hard to learn! Keep the good work.
There's a hairstyle Elrodn was sporting in FOTR, as he is saying goodybe to the Fellowship. I've always wanted to do it, but there is an intricate basket-weave type of thing on the entire crown of the head, and then it ends in a half-up, almost exactly like this. And I found it impossible to figure out how to do a basket-weave on myself. And this video helps so much with that, thank you so so very much! ♥
Girlfriend, let me tell you something... I am Norwegian-American, and my folk come from Oslo... your skills are AMAZING!! I am incredibly grateful to have stumbled across your channel. I follow the Old ways of my folk, and what you do is beyond amazing! Thank you for all that you do!! This is AWESOME!! HUGS!!! From a grateful woman!!
I've been trying to do the basket weave for three hours and I'm no closer to having such a neat and beautiful result... I love a challenge, thanks for the video
Aside of the fact that you are beautiful, I really appreciate that you don't pretend that self-styled hair styles are not perfect but look equally gorgeous in the end result. Thank You for being REAL 😊
This reminds me of the hairstyle of that blonde nurse on Star Trek, the original series. I used to be fascinated by the way her hair was woven, you should look that up and recreate it!
Wish I learned abput your channel earlier! You have been in my recommended section for weeks now, with the vikings women hair video, I finally decided to check it out , and your channel, and I am amazed and totally hooked! This is why I sterted growing out long hair in the first place!
I just found your channel & I love the hairstyles you share, but the real thing I notice is that you are so casual- I love it because it makes it seem more approachable and realistic. You don't meticulously part your hair perfectly, you don't redo your videos until it looks like you were just perfect on the first try, you don't have so much makeup it's like you're wearing a mask. That being said, you recreate some very intimidating hairstyles and you make it seem almost simple. I really appreciate it!
I'm actually guilty of redoing things in between cuts if it's something that a closeup mirror would help with... haha sorry to break that illusion! But I'm really glad you find the videos so watchable!
This is incredible. I'm in awe of your dexterity and skill in doing this on yourself! And your hair is such a gorgeous color. I'm wondering if I could bribe my daughter into letting me do this with her hair. . .
Thanks a lot for the video, it is really impressive! I wonder how much time it takes on average to figure out the specific techniques for hairstyles from different shows. One more thing: In one of your older videos you mentioned that you find all types of hair beautiful and that any hairstyle can be changed a bit to accommodate each type (thick/thin, curly/straight and so on). It would be great if you could make separate tutorials with tips for various hair types as well as include respective variations in usual videos. Just a suggestion from my side. Keep up the good work! :)
Im a gay guy and i've Always been a braid enthusiast, i've watch tons of your braid videos and do it to my mom or my friends. Love your daenerys braids.
Gosh I think this would take me forever! Literally, II've really thick hair) but I think your tutorial is amazing. Especially as you show how to do it on your own hair!
Makes my fingers hurt just watching you braid these . It’s really intricate and beautiful. Looks very challenging. I would need extensions , my hair is not really long enough. I would imagine this look good on me though, I’m 25 to 30% Viking on my father’s Irish line .
My girlfriend asked me if I can French braid? Of course I can’t French braid I have no hair but now I’m learning how to do that as well as this since she likes Vikings so much. The things I do for her.
Even doing a simple braid on the back of your head without looking is a challenge... I don't that I could do this nor would I ever have any need to. But interesting to see how it is done.
You're amazing at this!!! I can't get over how you did that 6+(?) strand braid without a mirror or help😶😦😧😯😮😳😲😵😍 I only wish I seen your videos before I cut my hair to a bob!!! I wish I did this style (if i even could 😆) and others from your videos. When i have long hair again i will😊😍😘
Wow! This looks pretty! My hair's not long enough for any kind of updo or braid, not that I'd want hair that long anyway, but man! This looks difficult to do, too. I'm sure the kids would love it, though ^^
I absolutely love the different hairstyles you make. Especially all the ones you recreate from series ect. But I wonder if you could make any video's for people with a fringe/bangs? Of course that is only possible if you have a friend that can model for you... I love the fringe I have and it looks great when my hair is loose/down. But for my job I have to secure my hair and pin it up. I'm trying to do something different every day, but it would be really nice to see some interesting styles that include a fringe. Because I find it really hard to recreate any of your gorgeous styles while incorporating a fringe... But anyway, it's just an idea you might find interesting. I'll keep enjoying your video's and try them all out!!! Thanks so much for making these!
Hello there. I really really love your work and your channel. I have been wondering, it's not what you do normally but there’s one hairstyle I've been trying (and failing) to replicate for quite some time now... It is the hairstyle empress Elisabeth (Sissi) of Austria wore on her most famous painting by Franz Xaver Winterhalter. I think it's gorgeous and I'd love to learn how to do a hairstyle that resembles that one. So maybe you could take a look at that one? Much love from Germany.
I'm a guy and am I interested in braids for My beard,She is kind of hypnotic and I'm so impressed how she can keep track of her hair from behind, very skilful. God bless
I can understand how having a ladies maid who was proficient at hair styling was prize. I could never do my own hair like this.
That is called an enslaved African. Tell the truth. My ancestors did these styles from Africa for other women.
Wth???@@lisavice7253
@lisavice7253 Vikings had slaves...none of them were AFRICAN. This video, its content and the comments below it HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH AFRICAN BRAIDING CULTURE. This is viking braiding culture.
I would love to re-do this hairstyle, but my arms hurt after just simply watching this video 🤣
ahahahahah you're right 😂
You're so right... I've tried some of that kind of hairstyles... I have to make a lot of stops because my arms hurt so badly :C
Takojako Mako What I do is sit before a table, so when I feel that my arms are gonna fall off and I can't take it anymore, I put my elbows down on the table. I still hold onto my hair, but for a minute or two, I can take a break like that. The more you braid your hair though, the longer you can hold up your arms.
you could get Viking strength from this hairstyle though
I love that you show how to actually do these on youself
"Let's do the basketweave in our hair." Ok, I got this, awesome tutorial to follow... *watches and cries into the abyss*
I mean, I would definitely say this is one of the hardest braid techniques to do on yourself, so don't cry too hard! It took me months and many different takes to finally do a presentable version of this on film...
"it's a fun way to show off your skills as well as get into the viking mood"- and take six thousand hours to do my hair. love it anyway, though:)
God I would cry if i had to destroy this at the end of the day.
You don't have to if you wear a cap at night. _ But i get where you are coming from ;-)
I've been watching a lot of these, and after a bit of thinking that way, I realized that intricate braids serve two purposes in a world where you don't wash your hair often: 1) keeping hair out of your face and 2) keeping unwashed hair from being too noticeable.
I am so impressed by your ability to basket weave your own hair! I've never known anyone who could.
It would take 8 of me all working together to do this hairstyle on someone, and you did it on yourself! Impressive.
Dear Lord... I've learned lots and lots of braids and hairstyles thanks to you, Shannon. But I must say basket braid and 5 strand braid are the most challenging to me. I'll try hard to learn!
Keep the good work.
Renata Villela 5 strand braids aren't as hard as they seem. the real challenge is a 5 strand French braid
I could only manage the interwoven 5 strands braid... But yeah, a french version makes everything harder.
heh, then I suppose I shouldn't mention that a Vikings style with a five strand braid is in one of my upcoming videos...
Oh dear... I think I really need to learn it. I'll work hard.
Silvousplaits will you please try to do some Harry Potter hairstyles? That would be really cool.

I love Torvi's hairstyles, this is a great one. You did a a very good job on this one.
Wow!! I can barely manage a French braid. Impressive skills. That's WAY beyond me. I'm envious. 😊
Absolutely adorable. 🤹♀Mostly I'm flinching from such industrious braiding works.

This style would be a beautiful idea for a bride.

Wow. I mean really that is impressive. Wow!

This is 100% the best hairstyle you've tried. It looks beautiful with you face and hair color. :)
I am so incredibly impressed with your braiding skills!

We made bracelets with rope using this technique when I was young!
You have so wonderful hair. I love it💖💖
Thanks a lot for the video, it is really impressive!

You have beautiful hair in length, style and color. Wow, and you are capable of doing this with it, I want my hair to be this long.
Gosh I think this would take me forever! Literally, II've really thick hair) but I think your tutorial is amazing. Especially as you show how to do it on your own hair!

Omg you are so talented
Wow!!!!
Ahhh, your hair is so pretty 😍
I didn't know lace roping was a thing-thing. I knew it was something others do sometimes, but I didn't know it had a name
