- On this episode of Make It Kustom, it's all about basic metal shaping!! I'm back on the 1931 Model A Roadster building the distributor cove and transmission tunnel. Using a power hammer, english wheel, planishing hammer and bead roller to create the shapes necessary to complete this project step by step!

I absolutely love your humble attitude. Just don’t sell yourself short. You are doing your passion and teaching others what can be created. It’s something to be proud of. You should show what time of day you start and what time you end. Some people can not appreciate how long this actually takes. Love the vids and please keep them coming. Thank you and your wife.
That is astonishing! I just watched the last two of the buck being made and the paper templating, but there was still a chance that you'd fall at the last hurdle - not so! This is fantastic and you are a very humble teacher given what you can produce (seemingly effortlessly)! Keep on keeping on and you will inspire this generation and the next with craftsmanship like this.
Thank you so much! I’m glad that you enjoyed all the videos and watch them through. I’m still learning but being more comfortable each piece I make
@@MakeItKustom If you ever stop learning it means you're not seeing what else might be possible anymore!
@@videogalore I second your comment. If we stop learning . We die I say
Yours is nicer
👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🙂🤞✌
Bro such a good process
My next tunnel is going to be built this exact way
Absolutely COLD BLOODED! I can’t remember ever being so BLOWN away by a YT video....EVER! Holy Mary mother of Gawd!
Thank you! Not only have you just totally changed my whole metal working frame of mind, you’ve just cost me a small fortune because now I have to have some new tools.
Your an animal when it comes to sheet metal sir! Rock on!!
HaHa totally. Already looking up how to build a bead roller and power hammer lol
Ha ha ha right on! I’m so stoked that your frame of mind has been altered. Building tools is a great way to learn how to use them too. We’re going to get into building all kinds of tools on this channel in good time
What a top job. You have amazing skills and I love the bead rolling too. Nice. Thank you for sharing. 👊👍
Thanks Adam! I appreciate it
You’re a fucking legend mate, there’s so many people in the industry that act like their techniques and skills are big trade secrets. Can’t tell you how great it is to see you getting out there and sharing your knowledge with the world, keep up the killer work man 🤙🏻
Thanks man I agree these things are not secrets or at least they shouldn’t be! Platforms like CZcams allow us to share knowledge and that’s ultimately what keeps the industry alive! Cheers!
Tell you what. I,m a old drag racer from the 60,s & 70,s. I have been around many dragster chassis makers & sheet metal guys. There was a guy in Texas
that made my nose cone on the front of my dragster & he was the best I ever saw. But you sir may just be better. You have a talent that is becoming a lost art. I love your channel.
Beautiful work young man! I have been in metal work since I was 18 many, many years ago and loved it. Now at 70 I have slowed much and forgotten more than I care too, but I always took pride in my work as do you. Your love of metal work shows in your talents of each project. Keep it up as long as you can.
Thanks so much this is my passion for life. I’ll do it until I can’t
Awesome work!!!! Great stuff sir!!!!!
My uncle's friend from the old dry lakes hot rodding days, Gene Winfield is 94. Still does metal fabrication the old way. Metal working is truly an art.
I hope to live as long as he is! I forward his career intently! He even flew to Canada and painted a car that my brother now owns. We volunteered at a program where he came and chopped one of the vehicles with the kids and painted one of the other cars. What a great attitude and a great work ethic and a great guy! He even went clubbing with some girls ha ha
Beautiful work! Keep it up. Even if you go to several other fabricators to learn their techniques, when you add them all together, you will end up with your very own style because you’re meshing styles. Love your work man!
You are quite the metal artist! Thanks for the videos!
The coolest trans tunnel WOW! Karl this my favorite video you have done. loaded with great tips and craftsmanship.
Well, you may be "no expert" (humble) but you're a damn site better than anyone I've ever known. You could be building aircraft, aerospace or Salt flats vehicles and parts. AND you're a great teacher. Here's hoping really big things come your way.
Thanks...Frank
Wow, I had never seen that shrinking attachment/power hammer before. This video opened my eyes.
I know you may never praise yourself and Christine so if you don't mind I'll do it for you. A master in your very own technic's, metal fabrication, welding and much more. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Just found your channel. Your work is awesome! It is very satisfying to see the great experience in your work!
Your explanations coplete the whole stuff and bring everything together. This is the next level of custom build cars!
Very nice to see and to listen.
regards from Germany,
Uwe
Thank you so much for the feedback I’m glad you dig it!!!
Really enjoying these videos. Spent the afternoon cutting metal to reinforce my English wheel
Great! What a craftsman ! Sum worldclass ART !
Many thanks, Mike! Really appreciate that!
Thanks for the tip for using tape on upper wheel works great.
Man, the bead rolling on the curved surfaces looks wild.
super impressed with your shaping skills! that stretching die on the power hammer is awesome
Thanks man the hammer is a treat to work with!
Did you build the power hammer?
I just finished a few of your videos. Made this ole boy stand up and take notice. Making a bead and forming metal. Thanks man. Good stuff.
Beautiful job 👍
Ya make it look simple. Surprise, Surprise!! Thank You! JD
Highly skilled and humble. Impressive.
You do some awesome work Carl, you're probably, maybe a couple years older than me, and I spent 10 years in the metal trade and never met guys with as many skills or as much knowledge as you. Amazing work, I seem to learn at least 2 or 3 things every video, so thanks for passing it all on, hopefully lots more people dive in on their own projects because of your willingness to teach
That’s my hope to! Pretty tough learning this stuff without CZcams for so longer. I love that this platform allows for sharing
Brilliant work and amazing fit and finish, you are too modest about your ability, its a pleasure to witness such skill. greetings from Bonnie Scotland
Brother, you should be Proud of yourself..you made some mighty fine pieces there, learn another from watching you, don't have the machines you do ,but still learn things ...Thank You ..enjoy your day !!!
Thank you so much man! Constantly learning every day is a school day!
Your talent is out of this world brother!
Thanks for showing that process. It helps me learn this stuff a lot. Off to the shop tomorrow to give one of those shapes a try. I appreciate it!
Great job ,I'm impressed .thanks for sharing.
Thanks for showing your work
Amazing! Knows everything.
It is awesome , the way you explain ,thank you
Keep your fingers on your hands. There's no one better . I was a iron worker out of L.A. Local 433. And i weld.
Our skill level was in the ornamental iron.
Inside hotel's. Stairways, handrails , glass installation extra. Great for guys razing family's. The benefits are payed by the contractor's. We went straight to any specialist we wanted. Checks were big as well as the vacation Checks every 3 month's. But your probably doing great on your own path.
I could watch a whole videos on that power hammer!
I’ll keep that in mind!
Agreed . Also watching you Bead Roll 👍
@@Bigskyguy56 coming soon!
Can’t fool me. Your an expert. Great work boss
Haha thanks man! Lots to learn yet!
WOW!!!! That work is absolutely perfect. You are an expert in following the line with every tool you own. I know how difficult and frustrating that can be... its not easy with any tool other than the horizontal band saw.
Thank you
Donnie

You do great work. You're an artist.
Absolutely stunning
Thanks man !

I appreciate your talent young fella. You’ve done such a brilliant job. Cheers mate. 🇦🇺
Thanks Tyrone! Cheers!
Amazing work it's all in the detail I was taught as an apprentice. Massive thumbs up.
I thought I had some some skills until I saw this guy. This is the type of videos I was looking for. Im learning new things
Wow Poncho, thanks so much! That really means a lot that you're learning from them! Keep up the rad work!
It’s nice seeing a young cat like yourself working with his hands and mind in the industrial arts.
Great work by the way.It is so important to learn the basics and then with time and experience develop your own style and techniques. I always told my colleagues we would be worth our weight in Gold one day. It looks like that day is fast approaching. It’s too bad in this once great country we can’t hire experienced tradesmen to teach our youth in the worthless public school system the ways to work with your hands and mind.
Thanks so much man I really appreciate that! I have faith in the younger generation to keep this industry alive. We are lucky to have so many ways to share knowledge and experience with new technology like social media. It’s not just a brain melter it’s a knowledge sharing platform when used as such! 🙏👊
Unbelievable skillz. I would be terrified to try bead rolling those pieces after putting in All that work to get them into shape. My luck I would ruin them trying to bead roll them. Lol.
Its truly inspiring to watch this kind of skill.
Wow that floor looks absolutely fantastic and it looks better than factory . You do amazing work, keep up the great work and God Bless. 🔥💯💪🏼👍👍🙏🙏✌
Thanks a lot Mike I appreciate it
That came out So nice !
Great channel, glad I found it .
One of the best metal shapers I've seen, you got yourself a new sub. Metal is like clay in your hands.
Thanks a lot man! I still have a lot to learn but I’m very passionate about expanding my skills. Welcome to the channel and thanks for the support!
Man you have skills. I really enjoy your videos. Take care and stay safe.
Very well done ✅👍
Man your channel is just too much !!!!! Congrats here from Buenos Aires Argentina
Thank you so much man!
Doesn’t get better great job!!!!
Thanks man you’re too kind
I really like what your doing! Your a prodigy! What natural talent… Innate understanding of your trade! Oh and with a touch of humility!
Wowed me again you make it look so easy, but explain it so it is if you take your time and do it right, thanks again
Mind blown! I know its possible, and its amazing to watch. Thanks Karl!!
Really Cool!!
Glad you dig it!
I really like your videos. The skill you exhibit and techniques are very inspirational for us that are doing the same type of custom metal on their restorations. Thank you
You’re so welcome! Thank you for watching I appreciate your feedback
Thanks, I needed that!! God Bless!!!
You’re most welcome!
You did a great job!
Outstanding 👏
Thanks Adam!
Really good content here man. Loving all these👍

Cara ótimo vídeo aprendi bastante com seus vídeos
Like the end part 😁👍🏾
Holy Moses brother that is some beautiful work. Just absolutely beautiful. 💯 Thank you for sharing your work. I know it would be a thousand times faster to just get it done and not film it, let alone edit and publish it. That is a lot of work, and I am grateful for your time and effort. Wow! BEAUTIFUL!
Thank you so much man I appreciate it and I appreciate that you know what goes into it
That is some good work right there. OK, now I feel inadequate. Thanks!
Ha ha Ha! Thanks man!
Magnificent
Funny editing like the last shot keeps it light and watchable.
We’re going to try and incorporate some more of that!
I spent 25 years in precision sheet metal. I never did anything like you just did in that video but I know how much it takes to move that much metal. My hat's off to you. Great work.
Thanks so much Thomas I appreciate it coming from an experience sheet-metal worker!
Brilliant work!
Thank you!
Muchas Gracias Por Su Canal.
Saludos Cordiales Desde Mazatlán Sinaloa México. ..
Beautiful work!
Thank you!
Great work Karl. As you said wire patterns are a helpful way to view both sides of the fabrication and confirm your works progress and accuracy. That planishing hammer works really well. Where could a fabricator get one like that?
Thanks George! The planishing hammer is my own design and is just a prototype but the new versions in the works
I'm so glad to have stumnled onto your chanel. Real sorry to hear you lost your shop. Hope things work out to the better for you!
Thanks so much man! It’s all part of the road
Really nice work and well explained - Thanks.
Thanks a lot!
I love your attitude towards teaching and sharing your knowledge and experiences with us. Thanx
Glad to hear it because I love teaching! I don’t know it all and I’m still learning lots but this platform and community is so welcoming we will be here for a long time
