- In this video, we're going to show you how to install Durobump Stops, and Opt-Offroad Trailing Arms. We'll look at the rear suspension in full flexed out mode. This mod will make your 3rd Gen 4Runner feel like an off-road beast and protect it from over flexing.
By installing these arms you'll be able to fully flex the suspension out. This 3rd gen 4runner rear suspension mod is one a lot of people over look, dont do the same.

Me and my wife love the bilsteins on our 3rd gens
Glad you’re enjoying my rear link kit! Definitely appreciate the detailed feedback 🍻
No problem, Thanks for dropping a comment. Ill be in touch when youre doing well. Best of luck. 👍
Man, your 4runner has come a long way.
Looks awesome. One of my favorite channels for this type of content.
Thanks dude
Awesome tips dude. Thanks man. Happy trails
Thanks man. 👍
Bronze wheels look good on the red 3rd gen 4runner
Great episode Kelly. Well explained and good flow. Good music choices. 👍
Thanks, wheeling video next week.
Durobumps are legit, right on.
Ya, definitely good stuff.
Love the OPT Offroad Upper and lower links Like that the Johnny joints are on both sides of the links For the 4th gen runners the opt offroad links have a Johnny joints on 1 side and a polly bushing on the other and on the 4th gens are only adjustable on 1 side were the 3rd gen the Johnny joints are adjustable on both ends of each end of the links which is awesome
Отличная работа!
That 4Runner keeps looking better and better (as well as the Taco)! Thanks for sharing, and always appreciate the comments after the road test. Thanks for the lifting tips as well. Not super-jacked here (LOL) and nursing a bad back, so preach on with the lifting techniques!
Thanks dude. Lifting with the right technique definitely helps a lot.
Could you drop a link for the links you used and the Duro Bump stops that you used as well??
LOL... I thought my LCA mount had some "surfce rust" too until I got a needle scaler on it and then realized one of the welds had completely rusted through. You might want to check that out sooner than later...
Well explained.. big salute 🫡
Thank you
Quality video just like your Runner!
Thank you sir 👍
That chassis is getting to the point where that rust will need to be addressed if you plan on keeping it for a few more years. Gut the undercarriage, media blast it, under coat, put the suspension back together and you won't have to worry about rust under there for a while.
It actually shows slightly worse on video than in person, but you're correct. Actually, I'm slowly working on the plan. Full frame off resto. Just decided on the build as I'll regear and either go 35s and possibly 37s. I plan to do a full repaint and chop etc...
i am defiantly getting those bumps
Well worth it. 👍
Wondering how much the Opt-Offroad trailing can adjust for aligning the third member with the angle of the drive shaft?
And have you considered swapping your front calipers for the 13WL (231mm)?
Passenger side hitting more of the fender definitely looks like the axle shifted to the driver side a bit
Hey I'm new to your channel. I have to say I'm loving the mods you're doing to your 3rd gen. You obviously do your homework when it comes to tires and suspension. In your experience when is a good to to consider regearing for the 3rd gen 4runner? I've got an e-locker I haven't installed yet so it might be the best time to do this for me. Thoughts?
The MT's looks good are them Broze Fuel Wheels true beadlocks or Fo Beadlocks they look good
Every time I’m done wheeling and I go to clean my undercarriage I spray everything in a heavy duty lubricant doesn’t matter if it’s Wd-40,LPS, ect the more I do it the easier it is to clean my frame off the next time I go to clean it also it helps with keeping all that salt off ur frame especially in harsh winters
Ya thats a good idea. Fluid film works great i hear.
Hey man incredibly helpful channel!!!! I have my rear bottoming out like crazy with my OME2906 (250kg constant load). Considering the 890 but you mentioned switching to something even heavier. Did you do it yet and what was the option? Thinking of 891 or even the 861. Last option would be adding air lifts to the back. Would love to hear your opinion on this !!
Cool, I am super paranoid about rust now. Today after I drove around after the snow storm last night with salt all over the road I spent over an hour hosing everything off, underneath, above and in the engine bay. I also use a sprinkler on the end of a pole to get underneath and spray upwards. Your underside is pretty dry and susceptible to salt spray; I have been trying different rust prevention products. Fluid Film is good but only lasts a few months if driving in the wet. Rust Cure 3000 from Canadian Tire also is decent. Recently I started experimenting with old bearing grease mixed with old ATF, brushed on.
Ya it sucks. i hear most people are using fluid film.
Get some good thick marine grease and slap it on everywhere.
How’d you get rid of the squirm in the rear? That’s one thing that I’m trying to get rid of.
Thank you for your tips . I appreciate you . Did you end up going with the bigger tundra calipers for the bigger tires ??
Youre welcome. Ya i did a video on the swap as well.
Oh snap . I didn’t know . I’m gonna go watch that .
❤❤❤❤
Nice work, do your two vehicles have kind of different purpose built in mind (other than the RTT) or kind of both being do it all
Thanks, id say both are fairly do it all. I definitely wheel the 4runner a bit harder and may do a more serious off road build with it soon. That being said the Tacoma is really well modded, just newer and nicer. Its my go to when camping.
Great mod video, 4Runner goals. I'm just starting a 99 4Runner Limited project, it has the factory locker. My Bilstein 6112 and 5160 finally arrived after a long time on backorder. I'm thinking of setting the 6112 driver at the top clip and passenger 1 down. I need to order the OME 2891 springs, maybe panhard drop, diff drop, longer brake lines, bump stops and sway bar disconnects. Who would you order parts from in BC?
Give us a call when you have time. We should be able to help you with all those parts. 604 503 3959
Thanks for the video, your rig setup Is awesome! I'm about to pull the trigger on a very similar suspension setup to yours. How's the ride quality with the OME 891s in the rear? Is it too stiff/uncomfortable when you don't have gear back in the trunk? I'm about to purchase a camper, and I figure the 891 would be good for towing, but I just don't want my back hating me when I'm not towing!
Hey, thanks. No, it's good. No complaints. Fully fully loaded, it could actually use a hair more, actually.
@@Beacon_Offroad that’s awesome to hear, thank you for such a quick response on a late Sunday night boss!
Why can’t I find a shop like yours in Los Angeles? I have a 1990 which I would love to have completely restored.
Have you regeared to ride on those 34s because I was wanting that same setup but I'm not looking to regear at the moment.
No, I haven't. My truck has 430s, so this is about the limit. It's not quick by no means, but it gets around the streets just fine, and Lo range still feels decent.
Can you post the links of the things that you bought?
Hey Kelly
Looks great
Nice work
Question
I've got a 98 used for a commuter and just a to the fishing hole ride for years
Love it but it's time to re work it
Just finished a 3" Bilstein swap/lift
Haven't done the trailing arms yet but have been looking at the KM3 and the Falken wildpeak MT in a 265/75-16 on the stock rims
Like those stockers
My question is how are the 35's with the 3.4 n no gear changes
I have an f250 Super Crew with 35's up from the stock 31's
35's seem like a bunch of tire for the V6
Great channel👍
35s are a pain in 3rd gen 4runners. Generally they require a fair amount of chopping etc to clear and flex properly. I stop at 33s. Also, give the toyo's a look. We really like them and so do our customers.
Also if your truck has 430s its not too bad but 410s would be worse. 33s max for sure.
@@Beacon_Offroad
Sounds good
Thanks for the advice
I also had an '85 4run'r with the 22RE n 5speed
Put 31x10.50x15 centerlines turned them like a champ
Wish I'd never
got rid of it
Was a Billiygoat
Would go anywhere
Have a great night
New to your video, what suspension kit do you have on the front? You mentioned OME 2891 springs for the Rears. I am new to my 3rd Gen 4Runner and would like to lift it this year. What roof rack do you have as well? Is it direct bolt on? Do I need to drill into the roof? Thanks in advance.
Heres the original lift video i made almost 2 years ago. czcams.com/video/HKz7MhH9TQc/video.html
That is a prinsu roof rack ans its a direct bolt on into the factory holes, no drilling required.
Have you considered an adjustable panhard bar.
No real need if you have a panhard correction kit, which i do.
Tires are so close in size
I noticed that on mine the passenger side rear also sticks out a little more than the other side. Kinda weird
At flex it has to be the panhard bar. If yours is doing it just sitting, if youre lifted, you need a panhard correction kit..
@@Beacon_Offroad I’ve got the panhard correction kit. It is not much but it is there. It drives plenty straight though
What front bumper is that?
That is a Coastal offroad high clerance.
Hey, where in Canada are you located?
Just outside Vancouver.
Hello, what's the specs on the wheels and tires
17x9 -12 295/70/17
@@Beacon_Offroad Thanks for the info. Do you recall the wheels offset?
I see the offset now, sorry
