      MK One Night didn't look like it was in B Minor, is it in C Major to avoid copyright? Would love to know how the voicing works in B Minor, can't quite nail it on my own.

      @Bthelick  Před 9 měsíci +1

      No changing key doesn't do anything regarding copyright, neither recording or publishing.
      I explain in the video the midi is in Am for visual simplicity, I do that in most videos as I aim at beginners, and there's no need to memorize all the minor scales when we can just use the white notes and transpose!

    what is your opinion on using audio samples of piano melodies instead of writing midi.

    • @Bthelick
      @Bthelick  Před 4 měsíci

      If it's providing what you need then all good right?
      I do it all the time.
      It's Much easier for many djs of course , at least in the initial stages.
      The main advantage of writing your own in midi is of course you know more about it, and what will fit with that.
      If you haven't learned relative pitch yet, then you'll be guessing when it comes to pairing it with other elements like bass etc.
      In a nut shell, It just takes longer with samples overall.
      Not only are many samples mis-labelled regarding key, but even if they are right you won't know the chord progression inside that sample. And the chances of you finding a bass or other elements with the same progression are very low.
      Many producers working with samples don't realise that matching the key is only a small part of it. Many musical samples move between chords in that key, and unless you have a 'construction pack' where all the elements were designed to fit together, then the chances of finding other samples that happen to use the same chord progression is pretty low, and often trying to mash 2 samples together that have different chords is just as bad as mashing samples in different keys.

      @@Bthelick do you have a recommendation for my first video for piano house for beginners. you have a bunch of them and it seems overwhelming which one to start with ?

    • @Bthelick
      @Bthelick  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah music production is overwhelming in general.
      There are lots of separate processes, like the music itself , the sound, the engineering, the arrangement, the production.
      Try to separate which you want to learn so you're not trying to take everything on at once.
      Each of those fields is its own rabbit hole.
      Where are you at currently? Do you already make music and are just new to the specifics of piano house as a genre? Or are you new to the whole music making thing in general?

      @@Bthelick I am currently one year in and im still stuck on the 16 bar dreaded loop. however recently I started a afro house track and its the farthest ive made it thanks to your videos on afro house. my mental state has been poor this past few years and its been extremely hard for me to create but recently what helped me is giving up the expectations that I am going to sound like a pro right now. Your amateur video changed my perspective on this topic. I should sound amateur because I am lol. I guess the hardest thing for me is pulling In my favorite tracks and having no idea how to recreate the bass line synths and pads. which is the main elements. I wonder if next live stream you can do another track from scratch. Im thinking either a uk garage house track like Sammy virji or salute or 90s house classic style track.Either way im looking forward to the next stream and lmk some advice on the above when you have time thanks B!

      It's a popular achronym that stands for;

      Typically typed in comments sections when someone writes an big essay length explainaton, someone will reply "TLDR". In other words they don't want to read all that can you just give the summary.

    super good tutorials. Is piano house ( the one with the drone notes you ve showed) the same as classic 90s piano house. I mean does 90s classic piano house use the same method as you showed us for piano house. The 90s one sound to me to follow more of a normal chords, not following a drone style pattern. What would be the difference if there is between what the call classic house and simply piano house? could you show us I f there us please. Thank you

    • @Bthelick
      @Bthelick  Před rokem +2

      that's a great question. No this technique is not common in 90s house, you're right, its more a recent thing. I have planned to do a video on different eras or types of piano house but it's taking a while to come together, as the rabbit hole just keeps getting deeper!
