The #MercedesAMG #E53 has had me very excited since the first look, because AMG didn’t hold back. It’s an absolutely gorgeous car with a wide, unique body like an E63 and features a 6-cylinder hybrid setup that might just make it the best AMG daily driver we can hope to own!
The #AMG E53 is powered by the typical setup most new performance cars are getting these days: a combustion engine, an electric motor, and a battery pack, giving a total output of 612BHP. The 6-cylinder is the new 3.0-litre M256M inline six-cylinder turbo engine, producing 450HP by itself, with a new electric compressor providing more boost pressure.
The hybrid system includes a permanently excited motor inside the transmission with 135HP more power and 480 Nm of torque, and a 28 kW battery with a usable capacity of 21 kW. This brings the total to 585BHP, 612 on Race Start, with 750NM and a 0-60 time of 3.8 seconds. With the AMG Dynamic Plus Pack on Race Start, it’s the same power as the previous generation E63!
But what about the weight? The car weighs 2.4 tonnes thanks to the hybrid system, compared to the E63 at only 1990kg. We will go over what this means for the power to weight ratio.
The benefit of that system is the battery, providing up to 100km all-electric range, making it viable for daily use.
The E53 features AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension with a wide track, sporty spring/damper setup, and two-valve damping at each wheel and finally AMG speed-sensitive steering and rear axle steering up to 2.5 degrees enhance handling. Let’s see how it handles today.
Pricing for the UK is £90,860 for the base model, £96,860 for the Premium Plus, and £115,860 for the Edition 1. The AMG Performance Package, costing £7,495, adds bucket seats, a carbon steering wheel, and the all important dynamic plus pack. How will this pricing work versus the upcoming new M5? Will be interesting to see.

I've put an order on an estate with the dynamic plus package and some other additional stuff and honestly cant wait for it to be delivered. I see plenty of people saying that the straight six engine is too small, but very few seems to understand that It's not supposed to be the equivalent of e63, and in fact it does follow the same principle on which the previous e53' were build on - to be a fast and luxurious daily cars, and thats exactly why Im buying one.

Thanks a lot for this video. This one is really the one for me this year. If you ever get a chance to drive one without the dynamics plus package please consider making a review for that. For me personally it’s the E-class first and foremost and AMG is a bonus. And when you get the dynamics plus package you have to get the uncomfortable performance seats (at least in the UK) so it’s a deal breaker for me personally. Also, I’m not a big fan of the Night package 2 which again is not optional in the UK with the dynamics plus package. So I’m spec-ing my car without that and very much interested in a review.

U clearly haven't seen any mock up designs of the new m5. It looks insane. This looks like something an old lady would drive. Yea the old m5 looked better imo but the new one def has a menacing presence. Shits muscular and big and bulky. This is a blobish design with tame headlights

The GLE looks like a blob on wheels that can topple at any second while the X6 looks much more menacing and muscular in comparison. It doesn’t help that the X6 is cheaper and outperforms it.

The 4 cylinder is not crappy. It's just not what we want in any AMG 63s C class and above. Crappy would suggest the engine is no good. But anyone who knows about that engine knows how good it is. So, don't be disparaging the engine because Merc chose to put it in the C63s
You don't know that, as the V8 is coming for the CLE it is quite possible that a E63 will follow

I rarely saw the outgoing / pre facelift E around here in the PNW USA. Though I did see one this week lol. But I think I like this styling better.

Not a huge fan of the rear tail lights, front end is OK. But, really think they coulda figures out something better w the rear lights, possibly fronts aswell. Still Sick nonetheless, love the E class.

How do you compare this with the drive of the 2025 M5 you just tested. Obviously comparing apples and oranges, with the V8 and all. But just wondering if the increased weight of the BMW offsets that.

That's one point I would like more reviewers to focus on. In my experience if you're really on it in max attack mode for long enough the max output will not stay at 612hp for too long...

I think the manufacturers have to mention and add 50% of the battery power on the combustion hp to get an realistic number.. for example the e53 has 531hp and on full power 612hp.. a bit like the fuel consumption they giving us 3 numbers combined,city,highway

I saw that without choosing the superscreen you can still get carbon and it will take up the blank dashboard space! But I did wish Mercedes would return to trim pieces on the door panels..such wasted free real estate for what could be a cool and quality looking door panel to make the carbon more worth it.

Probably the right compromise, in terms of being a daily driver AMG-lite model. Its fast, its reasonably practical, its got decent electric range, and it has good dynamics.
But why are all modern Mercedes so heavy? Even without the hybrid stuff, they're all heavier than their predecessors...
If Mercedes do bother making a V8 E63, it should be 1800kg or less. I don't understand why the C43 for example, weighs 1850kg, when the preceding C43 weighed 1705kg. Where has all the weight come from? Even the GT.
If Mercedes found a way to lop off 250kg from all their current cars, the work they've put into dynamics would make them even MORE dynamic than they are.

That might’ve let them know that the cars could still perform quite well while still being severely heavier then their predecessors and they could think just making it so the car feels light and agile as if it doesn’t weigh as much as it does might be just fine

I believe the previous e53 use the v6 not the inline 6, so you might be right but I seen videos where cls 53 vs stinger vs scats and both smoked it
Just looked up the video you mentioned. The cls53 did well from a dig but in the roll race it get smoked by the stinger and the charger.
But the people on the sam's car legion channel are not the best racers. Often time they mess up their gear shifts and their launches.

How come the new C63 has a 2.0 liter engine that delivers more horsepower than this 3.0 liter engine?
Even the combined output of the C63 is much higher.
2.0 liter - 470 hp : combined 670 hp
3.0 liter - 450 hp : combined 612 hp
Numbers are not everything and they need to leave space for E63.

Way too heavy which is a shame, should be 2t max. AMG really has a weight issue atm, I know that they have trick suspension blah blah blah but weight is weight. Everything will wear quicker, particularly tyres and suspension components. I hope the new E63 is not above 2t.
I think the car overall looks good. The taillights are a bit weird and the illuminated grill is some stupid tesla shit. But the car is appealing. On the inside really miss the long screen (2 screens behind one glass piece), which was found in the previous E-Class. Also the seats look in every new Mercedes Model except the S-Class a bit cheap (I am talking about the normal seats, not the bucket ones). And wtf is the straight 6 engine, this isn’t t a M4 (no hate against that car). The Amg E-Class only deserves a good sounding V8! I think nowadays the people who make the decisions at Mercedes Benz aren’t worthy or even a disgrace to the star emblem. What a shame.
