    Freddy Mendez, the Strategy Branch Chief, Mobile Remote Access Division, with the U.S. Department of State, talks about his experiences as an IT professional in the Foreign Service. Information Management Specialist and the places he's lived around the world. Freddy joined the Department of State in 2003 as a Foreign Service Information Management Specialist (IMS), and has served in six countries -- Bolivia, Finland, Nicaragua, Switzerland, Australia, and Slovakia.
    Since this video interview, the IMS role has evolved into the Diplomatic Technology Officer (DTO) role to reflect the evolving role of information technology professionals in the Foreign Service. He talks about what a typical day for the IT professional in this role looks like and he gives advice to students who are thinking about applying for the Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship.

    Great info. I'm looking to go to a chat to a diplomat next week. Though it is sounding like it really isn't for married folks whose spouse might have a decent career. Its a pity that I didn't know about this 20 years ago.
