"Pilots Will Have New Medals" | Russia Says "Prepared for F-16s" As Ukraine Flies Jets "This Summer"

- The first F-16 fighter jets are on their way to Ukraine and will be flying sorties this summer, according to a statement from the Dutch and Danish governments. Netherlands PM Dick Schoof and his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen said the “transfer process” of F-16s to Kyiv was underway. The two leaders said “Ukraine will be flying operational F-16s this summer” - the first of about 85 of the combat aircraft pledged to Kyiv.
The move ends a lengthy wait for Ukraine whose president has been lobbying for at least 18 months for F-16s. Zelensky said he was grateful to Denmark, the Netherlands, and the US for taking what he described as “practical steps of assistance.”
Meanwhile, Andrey Kartapolov, a top Russian lawmaker, said the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine will not affect the course of the war. Kartapolov noted that after the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine, Russian pilots "will have new stars on their fuselages and new medals on their chests."

They don't have to go on the offensive Ivan. They just have to make the war too costly for Russia to continue, or hamper Russia's ability to fight, or to difficiult to supply or defend. These will do all of those things if used properly. They will also force Russia to change tactics, shift their SAM sites to counter the threat from these.

The number is too small, and Ukraine's forces lack protection for f16 and are inexperienced in planning and coordinating an attack with limited ground forces.

They don't have to go anywhere near Russian migs or Russia's air defenses because they have missiles that can hit targets on the ground from over 1000 KM away and they have internal guidance which means the terminal phase cannot be jammed. If Russia thinks they are having problems stopping the drones(as they obviously are considering all the oil refineries that were hit in the last few weeks) just wait because Russia's ability to refine oil to sell or to fuel it's miltary is about to be seriously limited by F16s.
