Poor Shay, I would not only make the owner of the pit bulls pay all medical bills but I would press charges and make them secure the dogs. Once dogs start attacking, they will not stop without proper training and properly enclosed. The owners are to blame. The saddest part is that all pit bulls get blamed for the actions of a few. AND I cannot express this strongly enough: It is never the fault of a dog nor it's breed. It always comes down to humans and their actions or inaction that creates any problems. Up until about the 90's, this discrimination and blaming the pitbull breed didn't exist. Almost any living being can become unstable and/or dangerous if mistreated and abused. If people banded together to stop the breeding by incompitent people, requiring an evaluation of a potential owner with follow up for a period of time and dog fighting becoming a serious felony that carried a minimum of 15 to 20 years of prison time that I believe the false pitbull narrative would cease as well as the incidents.
u r on the same page as i. when there r bad, irresponsible owners of pit bulls, the entire species get a bad rap. there r still states in the USA that ban pitties. And/or demand payment for people who own this species. Most pit bulls make wonderful family pets but do get a bad rap because of the owners. I hope this lady sues those people b4 the untrained dogs kill another dog, or perhaps a child.
I so agree. It really doesn't matter the breed. I have seen people, cats, and dogs with serious damage from breeds like chihuahuas, terriers, labs, etc, but it sad that pits, shepards and other dogs largely considered guard or fighting breeds, all of the breed get looked down at because of a few. It is all about the care and training of the pet. Even as far as getting your pets spayed/nuetered especially if they may be more anxious or aggresive. We were walking our Polly when a neighbor's medium size female attacked her. She never did that before. She happened to be in heat. The owner of course felt horrible and offered to cover any costs. I hope they do go after the owners for charges. It is not the dogs fault really when they are not trained properly or if they are doing what is normal for them.
I agree, too. Every Responsible pittie owner I know have raised obedient, sweet dogs that do well with people, kids, other animals. The few bad apples out there have ruined the rep of the entire breed. You're right, those owners need to pay for Shay's vet bill, which I bet was a very pretty penny. I'm really glad it ended up for the sweet little dog!
Yes!
Absolutely! The whole problem with pitbulls, isn't really their problem at all. It's the idiots that own them and on both ends of the spectrum! They either put em on a chain in the yard with no engagement and minimal resources or they treat them like little babies who "could not hurt a fly". Both are equally dangerous for this breed. Don't get me wrong, they are my favorite breed and I wish I could educate all the owners and make them respond appropriately but unfortunately they don't always believe what they don't want to believe and so they have this image of a gentle giant until something goes wrong and all the sudden... It is the Pitbulls fault and it was unprovoked and sudden... Smh if you love the breed then love them for their truth manage their environment accordingly and train them. You then have a loyal companion or working dog that is stable and trustworthy. If you can't accept their history than you love your idea of them but not the actual breed. You can't love them and deny their genetics and predisposition. The people that do this are essentially just waiting for the ball to drop.
Dr. Hodges is so nice he always makes sure to explain the process to patients. And he hugs😊
Amazing medical technology using Tilapia as a graft for that Dog;s jaw injury!!! Great job Dr. Hodges and The TEAM!!!
What wonderful vets. Wonderful people. God bless
First time watching this show ,The Drs and their team are amazing. Great people. ❤
*I completely understand your frustration and concern for Shay's well-being. It's true that owners are responsible for training and securing their dogs, especially when it comes to breeds like pit bulls that have a negative reputation. It's important to hold the owners accountable for their negligence, rather than blaming an entire breed for the actions of a few. I hope Shay makes a full recovery soon.*
i hope the owners of the attack dogs have to cough up the money needed to return Shay to health.
Although I totally agree that dog owners need to be responsible whether financially for damages to property or to other animals, however it is wrong for anyone to put blame onany certain breed because of a few. Have seen chihuahuas , terriers, do terrible damage as well as pitties. It is about training as well as spaying or neutering especially if your pet has anxiety or agressive tendencies. All breeds are naturally capable.
This is really impressive to see how human treat animal with love and sympathy. Love and respect❤
Charlie the goat is so handsome! What a fun companion! I love Vet shows. They, and their staff, are so dedicated and compassionate with all animals big and small! It’s incredible the knowledge they have. Shay’s Mom saved her from the pit bulls. I hope she forgives herself. She did all that was humanly possible. She saved Shay The chicken looks like she’s wearing a boa (a feather scarf like thing).
Great job with Shay! I love that Dr. Hodges is a hugger. ❤️

Leaches bring blood supply to surface as well.
The pit bull owner is a very bad owner. I have been around many pits who were sweeties. Any dog must be trained to attack. I feel really sad for all concerned. 😢😢
