After guilty conscience 2 the songs after just feel out of place.
@@yrudonking no? Slim Shady is dead, they’re more introspective or more modern Eminem style, fits perfectly in the concept
@@yrudonking I agree, it's not really an criticism of the album, but the whole "Storyline of the Album" ends up on Guilty Conscience 2, and the other songs are almost like extras or second CD albums.
It did feel like a weird shift going on, for sure. But I imagine there are commercial reasons behind this as well, as those are the more "radio friendly" songs, like Tobey.
@@yrudonking yeah I thought there'd be more reflecting on the past after the killing of Shady. Like Tobey just doesn't really fit imo. Still enjoyed it more than his recent stuff though
I love that he had fun with the whole concept of Shady trying to cancel him. 😂
Eminem is the no 1 worst rapper of all time. Every new em single and albums are trash. That’s how Eminem’s music works. Eminem always makes terrible music and his stans keep on praising him even though he’s the no 1 worst rapper of all time. Best Eminem album we’ve gotten in a long time. I’m impressed can’t even hate this time
dude guilty conscience isn´t confusiong at all, the whole dream scenario where the slim shady songs were occurring was stablished since early on, the album concept is very clear and narratively that song needed to happen, the whole album was not a celebration of slim shady but leading up to a farewell. also ypu say you don´t understand why he used the character if he want it to kill him off but the album is clearly a love letter to his fans and he knew he could´t kill this famous character off without giving him a propper goodbye. beyond that good review, loved the album over here, is like when a show does a 1 hour special, the album feels like a little movie. (english not my first language so if a f up sorry)
You said it perfectly
Agreed. Eminem went deep on this one and it was amazing
Im also not native english and its funny how u understood better the concept than these so called "yt reviwers"... damn, these guys fool so much ppl, thinkin he would kill slim shady without giving it a last glimpse of how it was and how hes not fit in nowdays society
why does eminem need to say bye to slim shady? he already established in mmlp2 that they're the same
@@Charles-pf7zy slim shady technically died already on relapse, that album is kinda similar to this one in the sense that slim takes over eminem again (symbolizing relapsin on drugs and bad habits) and by the end of it eminem kinda defeats it and then comes recovery, but I think that’s why this one’s called coupe de grace, slim came back for one last punch. Also a lot of people kinda missed the point of mmlp2 and if he wasn’t using the slim persona anymore I’m glad he gave us this final goodbye
That J.I.D feature was amazing, easily one of the best songs on the album, amazing that em dropped a pretty good album, and those skits were fucking peak, nice to hear a modern album with good, funny skits.

I think at this point there is no way eminem can put an album that can please any music critic
@WhyDidTheyChooseMe what is the Eminem album that is solid sounds like ? What should it be about ?
It should be like the 1st track on his new album. A good instrumental and his old voice, the rest of the album didn’t really have that
@@chrisgill8023 okay so he should be 30 again ? And put out the same album every year ? I don't know man I bet everyone would still be on his ass saying his boring and is not evolving.

Then after literally telling us that on Guilty Conscience he switches it up & raps in a more serious style

His old voice and flow will always be better, he should stop being delusional and realize that.
He used to be an actual good rapper
I don’t give a DAMN about the concept. We understand that he wants to grow as a person from what slim shady was. We don’t CARE because the reality of it is that slim shady raps performs sounds and IS the better rapper. “Not what we need from him” smh please

@Cubevision1 you realize it’s the same person rapping, right? I certainly hope so

Lu needs to go back and take Em out of his top 10, I feel like that’s not his real opinion and just put him in there to keep people happy. This album was great. The nostalgia, the humor, the production, and concept as a whole was executed brilliantly.
keep your pants on dude
Why are you so upset someone didn't like a album you did
Both of them weren’t even born when Eminem was slim shady. This album ain’t for them. They can go back and listen to the music but living in that era is a different story. Lu especially reads hip hop magazines and watches Zane Lowe and Peter Rosenberg and tries to regurgitate what he sees. Hip hop ain’t for them. Do they like music? Sure that’s great. But they should leave hip hop alone and go back to being a casual listener.
it's his real opinion because Eminem is an amazing rapper. But how he feels about albums is a different topic and we all would like if he didn't lie to his audience as how he feels about them, right?
Keep ur pants on budster
Y’all overhated on this album so much on the live reaction. The themes you said are forced are exactly what he’s been doing for years. He’s telling why he can’t rap like that anymore.
And "Slim Shady" also calls out Marshall on Guilty Conscience 2 that he only created that character as an excuse to say terrible things about people he doesn't like. And that "Slim Shady" is responsible for his fame (but also his addictions that nearly killed him).
The beginning of the album is a bunch of unnecessary slurs and over exaggerated hatefulness for no apparent reason symbolizing How shady as a persona is stuck in his ways and can’t change with the times , then Marshall Kills off shady to show he’s past that as a rapper and person .
This is the simplest break down but it can go even deeper with more Time & thought
Y’all praise rappers like Wayne and Drake for corny punchlines and when Em says them in jest… yall all the sudden take it as corny… wtf
I encourage y’all to revisit. Hating on the production was crazy as shit… impossible to please.
Extremely well put. Couldn’t have said it better.
Facts.
Yes, exactly. This album was a masterpiece. These guys are just way too gone on the melodic rap/trap scene, I bet you they overhyped Fein, they go nuts for Travis Scott and Drake, but precisely because they are more focused on the melody rather than creating an entire concept. These dudes are too far gone to understand what a concept album is. The album is brilliant.
Amen bro.

@@back2roots779you mean on the song where Eminem cries about people having critical thinking?
@@back2roots779that doesn't make it better
this album could have "CONCEPT ALBUM" on the cover and yall would still be like "what did he mean by this?" like just follow along the narrative, the whole point is him putting the Slim Shady persona and ideologies to rest and maturing past it, and unmasking how he used Slim Shady as a tool to get away with stuff. Its entirely self aware
Point is that the concept wasn’t well executed
@@retrogressive8245 how though? It’s clearly straight forward and structured as the album progresses. Im genuinely curious where you think it’s not well executed
@@aawake Like they said Em brought back the Slim Shady persona for no real reason, and without the accent and good subject material it’s kinda awkward
@@retrogressive8245 Actually, "for no reason" is a very weird take, given that the reason is right in your face! Em was making a point about the Slim Shady character and putting him to rest. That is not "no reason".
@@retrogressive8245 the whole album is literally about him maturing and moving on from Slim Shady, where he has to face the fact that he felt reliant on the persona, and finishing with the fact that he’s able to live without it, killing it off. The whole album is demonstrating a self critique of his own image, how in any way is it bringing it back “for no reason”. By the end you see him owning up to his mistakes and apologising to his family members and loved ones and starting change from the unhealthy/neglectful lifestyle he lived as Slim Shady, it’s very much him having to face against his past, (characterised as a figure trying to ruin the life of current Marshal, mirroring his life where he felt defeated, was damaged etc from drug issues and life), reliant on it, learn to overcome it, and finally kill it off, and the start stepping towards a hopeful future for himself where he’s no longer hiding behind the persona, or being ignorant, and most of all healthy both to himself and to others.
I don’t get where subject material is lacking at all, I strongly believe it’s just a case of people not paying attention to the album. He explicitly said it was a concept album, if you can listen to this whole thing and just think “he’s just trying to bring back slim shady again” despite it basically being the opposite, then you’re not even trying to listen
Some people will never be pleased with anything EMINEM does.

I’m a long time Eminem fan and just didn’t think it was executed well. There are good moments but the slim shady persona doesn’t feel like shady anymore…he sounds like a guy who listens to too many Joe Rogan podcasts. And you can say “that’s the point! Shady is supposed to be corny and bad because Eminem is done with him!” But then the question is who wants to listen to half an album of Eminem being purposely corny just to finally get to guilty conscience? It’s also just too hard to tell when he is being satirical and when we are supposed to take him seriously, and that’s a bad thing.

In my opinion, "Guilty Conscience 2" was the standout track on that album. What I miss most about the old Eminem isn't just the wild and offensive lyrics, but his storytelling prowess. He had a unique ability to paint vivid scenarios in your mind, almost like watching a movie. That narrative quality, combined with his top-notch lyricism, made his music compelling. Nowadays, it feels like the new Eminem is more focused on proving his status as a rap legend by rapping extremely fast and using complex wordplay, which detracts from the narratives he's trying to convey.

Ngl the album started kind of low but it wnded so strong
Dud Ken kinnife is a classic Eminem character
@WhyDidTheyChooseMe what that gotta do with me

These guys don't wanna get cancelled 😂😂
They contradict themselves constantly
No bro what the fuck? They gave yeat's 2093 a bad rating and also they didn't glaze this album or anything they just said their opinions... Your opinion is not the only one in the world brother
the same guys that glazed the shii outta vultures btw😂😂
Stfu about getting canceled they just talking about the music
@@FakeAdirTV The same guys that didn't fvck with Kendricks "responses" in the beef but now say he killed drake throughout the whole beef coz Not Like Us is popping?
I love the the narrative in the first two thirds and how the final act is a very nice introspection on em as a person plus the ballads to his kids and specifically Hailey with the sound bits definitely had me a little emotional for a minute can't front and the jid feature made me jump out of the seat so good
Bro I'm fucking asian and i fucking understand the whole concepts of "The death of slim Shady" and y'all guys saying yourself a "music reviewer" with English as your natives languages but dont know the album concept 😂
And I'm from north african English is my 4th language and i got the concept of the masterpiece, shame on them🤣
They understood the concept, it just didn’t flow well or make much sense
the concept is very easy to understand, but it just has no purpose and isnt executed well
@@retrogressive8245 stop defend them bro, they just hating Eminem too much or don't know how to be a "reviewer"
@@Daniel-oz6qu how it ain't have no purpose? Cleary u don't know the concept, stop the bullshit bruh
The entire slim shady persona in the past used forced and repetitive diss (Christopher Reeves for example). exactly to create this exaggerated humor with the intention of shocking. It's nothing different from what we hear in MMLP and TES.
Exactly
He even addressed it on the album with the song “Guilty Conscience 2” so it is clear that the repetive nature of him talking about Catlin Jenner and Christopher Reeves was intentionally done to emphasize the very point you have brilliantly made
Honestly this is one EMs best bodies of work
Eminem was literally saying that same method is NOT what we need from him & showing us why.
He then says that himself in Guilty Concious & the skit and then switches it up after that to a more serious style & content which is what we DO need from him

This album is such an emotional roller coaster and I love it
It's aight but I know people of a certain age group are going to be insufferable if anyone calls it mid, if the music is mid the music is mid lmao no one cares about his "offensive" lyrics everyone knows it is intentional most of his jokes are mad corny. People will say 24×7 " you don't know the real slim shady" like most of us ain't listen to him while growing up😭
Yeah go listen to your so called catchy rap with no substance or li*k critique balls and go play whateva they like
Ok emiway fan 😑
I honestly really liked this album, I feel like Em really tried to make a conceptual album and for the most part it worked, also this has some really good songs like Fuel and Temporary. You really have to understand the concept in order to understand the album as a whole.
You guys still bring MMLP2 up like it was a bad album? That's why fantano is part of the Big 3 and you guys are not.
Fantano has even worse takes bro
Fantano? Fantano? 💀💀😂😂 Fantano called Houdini garbage btw 😂
@@UZI-hb3cuhoudini is so mid
@@UZI-hb3cuhe’s not half wrong
"Fantano part of the big 3" damn... what a line to spit, the audacity is off the charts
I loved it he blended the old stuff with the new stuff
One of his best albums ever and I didn’t skip one song! Top 3-4 albums he ever made.
NFR after a couple more listens “I’m sorry, we were wrong…”
JID on there was something I never expected but I definitely needed. Eminems feature selection for this album was great. I am a bit disappointed I didn't get more Dre or Snoop or even someone like 50. If this really is his last album than I think that those features should have been essential. Either way, very fun album and a great way to end a legendary career 🙌
Y’all some actual haters on Em fr lol
Not saying this is better than SSLP, MMLP, or ES but this is DEFINITELY IMO BETTER than MMLP2 and maybe even on par with Recovery.
He has a message throughout, actually entertaining throughout, and he finally ditched the old man try hard choppy flow he’s kept for a decade now. I’d say he’s back in good form!
this is a good album ya'll tripping. or at least his best album in the past 10 years
There is a breakdown on Reddit that states the album actually starts with Somebody Saves Me. Because there are sounds of a casket lowering and then Renaissance happens where he spits on the grave and shady comes out the grave. Basically this is a loop, meaning Shady never truly leaves. Somebody Save Me lyrics is Shady saying he didn’t get to witness his daughters big moments because he couldn’t overcome addiction. However Marshall did and did get to walk his daughter down the alter etc. I would like Em to do an interview to break this down.
Okay. You really are the pinnacle of critics... This album is top 5 EMINEM!!!
4.5/10
Really 8.5/10
He creates controversy in the first half, coupe de gra and the backlash of it in second half . An emotional journey
The alarm was fire and had me laughing at times 😁
Dude the albums dropped hours ago chill wtf
They tweaking this album 🔥
It's interesting that Tyler just stopped doing the edgy controversial bars and started dropping quality albums with different subject matters. It's fitting that Em wanted to do a death of the character album given he likes comic books, but the concept wasn't well executed
Lots of people missing the concept
I’m seeing online reviews and comments about the album but haven’t seen one which accurately described the concept I wanted to lay it out:
Marshall is older and matured. He had kids that graduated college and even an adopted non-binary child. He’s pretty progressive tbh.
His youth (Slim Shady) still is a part of him and he acknowledges that brought him fame. He’s inescapably tied to his past.
To allow himself to fully mature and put the past (Slim) to rest, Marshall devises a plan to use our current “cancel culture” to kill off Slim Shady, even if it destroys their combined career.
Throughout the album he “punches down” to achieve this goal, culminating in a confrontation between his two personas during Guilty Conscience 2. At the end of this song he accomplishes his goal and kills his old self, possibly taking himself down in the process.
After this song, his album lyrics become more grown up since Slim is dead. This is why he mentioned in social media "Some of the songs won't make sense if you listen out of order."
I haven’t seen anyone address his use of “cancel culture” as a weapon that he wields against his old persona. While he complains about it, he also sees it as a gift that allows him to shed his old persona and finally mature into the rapper/man who he wants to be.
Habits was dope. U wrong ant lol
It definetely is in the upper echelon of his catalog. He has 12 albums and 5 of them are bad, and this album was pretty good.
Which 5? I don’t think 5 are bad so I have no idea which you mean.
@@redhelmetsclips6297He was being generous. He has more than 5 bad albums
@@redhelmetsclips6297 forgot to put imo in the statement. I believe that Kamikaze, Encore, Revival, Recovery, and MTBMB are all 1/10s to 4/10s.
@@justsomejusstsome8994 lmao
revival and encore are his only bad albums imo
He’s back!!
this was absolute fire 🔥
I respect everyone's opinions cause not every sound is for everyone. But just blatantly missing the concept and point of the album is insane for "music reviewers". I want to say lack of critical thinking, but it doesn't even take that its basic comprehension lmao. Tempted to unsubscribe from these dudes, seems as though they just riding the "hate eminem" wave. Is this a top 3 album of em? No. Is it the best thing he's released in a decade? by a landslide. Just like he said in the intro, these type of people would pick apart anything.
so because em called out critics in the intro track they’re not allowed criticize his album because they “missed the point”? you’re biased dude
@@reallybuck I understand the criticism of the lyrics, the sound, the flow, whatever. I agree with many of their points, e.g. not much replay value on this album at all. But I just don't understand how they can't comprehend the concept of the album. As music reviewers, to miss that just seems obnoxious.
@@zwski396 okay yeah that’s understandable idk how they didn’t get the concept it was pretty simple
I don’t think it was forced, I saw it as he could finely just say what he wanted to say to who he wanted to say it to, so he just got at the main things he hate or main topics he wanted to say stuff about
I had an idea for a video, so most rappers have 2 albums that fanbases argue over like Travis Scott with Astroworld and Rodeo, Ye with College Dropout and MBDTF etc. So maybe yall could make kinda like a free smoke style video where you both defend these kinda debates.
Love the videos BTW big fan.
This album was 100% a hit. It was such a good concept album. Come on guys…
These guys are Fantano - lite
harsh? They are actually often too generous
fire fire fire album.. whole concept is hilarious and hes SPITTIN his ass off
I was at work and I was finishing at 12 at midnight so I was so ready to spend the whole night listening to it. I forgot the time difference since I’m on the west coast the surprise I got when at 9:30ish pm I opened CZcams while at work to find a podcast and I saw Em dropped. I listened to it at least 2 times start to finish for the rest of my shift and got home and have been watching reactions since. It’s 1:50am and I plan to keep going😂 I’m really happy with this album and I just wanna hear him rap more😅 he’s really found a good sound and he’s refining his pen more and more every time he drops an album
Kendrick called him an "insane traumatical genius" and it showed. How he executed the concept is crazy🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
