I took the Christopher Reeves track as a way for Shady to show repetitively show how diabolical shady is and how he won’t let shit go as he needed it to reference it in Guilty Conscious 2. As a stand alone, I’m not crazy about Brand new dance but feel like he wanted it to set up the content in Guilty Conscious 2.
It seems like everyone is missing the fact that Em sampled different flow styles from most if not all of his albums. That takes some skill. Also that "stiff and robotic" delivery is unique. I personally like when artists try new and unique things. I think this album is a good balance of all previous eras of Em, along with new stuff. I really liked the album
as an albulm yeah its good. once more em isnt really an albulm maker now but as a lyricist the display of work is superb. Also Em is an excellent feature artist.

19:28 I love this part. Em still is my goat. Yes, i hear other rappers more often, yes, his older voice is not as captivating as his young voice and so on......but he could rap like everybody, but for me, rap is still mainly about flow, rhyming words, technique, double meanings, punchlines. And he's simply the number one in that respect. Nowadays, style and being different are very important criteria. But for me, those aren't rap criteria. To be honest, I don't even understand how there can be a debate about whether he's the best or not. People can always say that it's not inspiring, or not for the streets, or too worn out, or they don't like it musically... or whatever, but he's the best rapper of all time. Sometimes I also think that people only hate Eminem because they're disappointed that he doesn't do what they want, because they knew he could.😄

Weakest part of the album is Eminem constantly talking about how he's being _so_ edgy, and how he'll _totally_ be cancelled over this one! The old Eminem just let the bars speak for themselves.
Thank goodness you guess caught all of that on the next listens, I think this album is meant to be listen a few times to kinda get those underlying Marshal moments
It does have its lows and i kinda expected it to be better, mostly wish it was less repetitive in the first half, but overall it still manages to be his best effort since mmlp2
A little disappointing that most didn’t get the album concept. The album takes you through shady coming back to life, kidnapping M and M killing him. But through the album it makes it clear that it’s all in his head. Shady (personality is trying to come back) feeding M drugs so he can take over and M letting people know that if he does that, he can’t control tshady(drug use) and he would lose his daughters.. But again it’s all in his head, since he’s the same person. And on guilty conscience he realizes that. This is why on Houdini he says “kidnapping never did happen” And if you play the album backwards it’s shady killing M
@WhyDidTheyChooseMe it’s not basic and it is going over heads.. people taught he dissed k dot, Cole and Joyner and you expect them to get the concept of the album? lol. And it’s fine, you can say fuck the concept. The songs are musically good. This is not coming from an Em fan. I mean look at hi hip heads. Let me tell you something abt the nostalgia point you brought up. I am new to rap, I got introduced to the genre last year itself through Eminem (better late than never, I know) and I absolutely loved Brand New Dance, there is no nostalgia factor for me. I just simply find the song hilarious.
I actually like the album less the more I listen to it. The Jenner , reeves “edgy” angels are too cringe to get through. Even if it is the “concept” . I remember when Slim was actually edgy. This out of touch version of Shady is kinda sad. This album proved the reason Slim won’t work in 2024 isn’t because of cancel culture, it’s because Em can’t do it like he used to.
I loved this album and seriously impressive to see a 50 year old Eminem cook up something like this in terms of the concept and rapping ability. Great return to expected form.

@edwardhill7297 I have it slightly lower. Recovery is a good album, that I think gets too much praise. It had too much of a pop sound for me.
If an em album is this polarizing (and its not just em stans loving it versus everyone else hating it) then he did something right.
Exactly
This is the first review that I didn't feel any prejudgment
great video
already predicting a good/mid overall rating 🥲
as an albulm yeah its good. once more em isnt really an albulm maker now but as a lyricist the display of work is superb. Also Em is an excellent feature artist.
Good is good. Great albums are actually more rare than people think, but they give that status to every other album
Super hyped for this episode
loved this album, em one of the greatest of all time. At first listen i wasn’t a big fan of road rage and bad one, but with more listens i fell in love with road rage. Bad One is the only L for me. Best Em album since Recovery. By the way i joined the patreon love you guys

@sa7le17m3 ur just an em meatrider. They gave it a good score, it sure as well wasn't amazing. Just old heads and Em's weird ass stans think it Is

I love the album just as m7ch I love all of his album
Album is 10/10
I will replay it daily
Bro he made a song about you, big hit from 2000 called "Stan"
What impressed me most was this album really sounds like it could have been released after Encore. He genuinely did a good job of giving early 2000s Shady another album.

Renaissance was one of his best intros in a minute imo and Fuel was fire imo JID got Em cause of his flow but lyrics it’s debatable. Love the videos NFR 💯❤️

Guys you got to talk about the theory that the concept of this album actually goes backwards and all the other stuff that's going on on X like 50 and dre mentioning that they had tracks on the album etc we might actually be getting another one.. And dude if renaissance is the outro for that one then i got high hopes for it ngl
i love this album and i genuinely think its his best work since recovery
Sometimes I also think that people only hate Eminem because they're disappointed that he doesn't do what they want, because they knew he could.😄
Underrated

Thoroughly enjoyed the album. I liked the concept and there were a lot of creative bars. Felt like the old em at its heights
Incredible album. Complete masterpiece, the production the flows, untouchable lyrics. Levels to this shit and Em all by himself at the mountain top

Personally I think this album was his most solid one since mmlp 2 it had amazing performances like Brand new song and dance, Antichrist, Lucifer, etc and I believe it really hit those emotional beats well to like point it will have you laughing, shocked and reared up with the emotional songs like some body save and temporary but overall it was solid like a 8.5/10
Loved the review. I honestly think the album is amazing.
So glad lu came around to liking it more. Definitely have to listen to it a lot to appreciate it even more. There are so many layers.
I can definitely see how on first listen a lot of people might feel it's much weaker than it is. Once the concept is tied up and the whole picture comes to light it makes the satirical tracks make a lot more sense
It's about as deep as a dried up puddle bro 😂
Like I said. It has one song that’s a for sure skip. Max 3 songs. It’s a good album. Idk what people want from him

He said on Godzilla himself he has no plans to retire.

Nah Kamikaze was best Em in the past decade. The Ringer, Not Alike, and Fall are too good.
Album has some really high highs but some low lows too
Pretty sure y'all mispoke by mentioning "recovery' instead of "relapse" as solidly in the top 4 (based on prior rankings)
That was an incredible concept album and Guilty Conscience 2 is one of the greatest Eminem songs ever IMO
this is a GOOD album
Agree. It would’ve been a great album if we got the 1999 version of Shady, but we had to settle for the low T geriatric cringe version
Eminem is the King of Sequels:
SSLP & Death of Slim Shady
MMLP & MMLP2
Eminem Show & Encore
Relapse & Recovery
Revival & Kamikaze

I knew you would view this album more positively once you listened to it a little more. Love you and your reviews guys.
Jesus. You guys expect way too much and are completely wrong. This album is amazing. You guys don’t understand the point of the album.
Weakest part of the album is Eminem constantly talking about how he's being _so_ edgy, and how he'll _totally_ be cancelled over this one! The old Eminem just let the bars speak for themselves.
💯
Yeah a bit corny. I grew up on Eminem but it's time for him to just retire.
Worst album yet but nothing after 05 was ear worthy. 99 05 he was untouchable.
@@user-hu7yt2ft1gHater. He rapped about you in track one.
That's part of the concept
Thank goodness you guess caught all of that on the next listens, I think this album is meant to be listen a few times to kinda get those underlying Marshal moments
Eminem snapped on that Juvenile Ha beat🔥🔥🔥!!!
It does have its lows and i kinda expected it to be better, mostly wish it was less repetitive in the first half, but overall it still manages to be his best effort since mmlp2
Nah, wish the second half was more like the first one
@@mikereisert2803 agree
A little disappointing that most didn’t get the album concept. The album takes you through shady coming back to life, kidnapping M and M killing him. But through the album it makes it clear that it’s all in his head. Shady (personality is trying to come back) feeding M drugs so he can take over and M letting people know that if he does that, he can’t control tshady(drug use) and he would lose his daughters..
But again it’s all in his head, since he’s the same person. And on guilty conscience he realizes that. This is why on Houdini he says “kidnapping never did happen”
And if you play the album backwards it’s shady killing M
Bro, it's not that deep, we get the concept
Its kinda gives me Fight Club vibe
Bro do you really think haters will agree with you, they are still crying
@WhyDidTheyChooseMeoh so sad, hater
All praising the album.. even people like Joe Biden and Chris brown who don’t like him
Let me tell you something abt the nostalgia point you brought up.
Same
I loved this album and seriously impressive to see a 50 year old Eminem cook up something like this in terms of the concept and rapping ability. Great return to expected form.
Completely disagree with ur opinion of brand new dance, u just dont get Eminem... 20 years later he put out the song cause it was a pure slim shady song...there was a purpose to having that track on the album
Honestly didn’t come in expecting much I’m not a huge fan of Em but my friend convinced me

The narrative doesn’t end at the end of guilty conscience 2. The rest of the songs r super reflective since he has killed the character and is reflecting on his life with the character of slim shady
Easily his best album since Relapse. Id put it in the "Great" category. Eminem gives strong performances with his concept albums.
Tier 1: SSLP, MMLP, TES
Tier 2: Death of Slim Shady, Relapse
Would recovery reach tier 2 for you or is it hanging around lower?
@edwardhill7297 I have it slightly lower. Recovery is a good album, that I think gets too much praise. It had too much of a pop sound for me. Don't get me wrong, I love tracks like Cold Wind Blows, On Fire, etc. I'm not sure I'd put it up there with Relapse or Death of Slim Shady though.
Recovery is probably his 6th best project. Potentially 7th if you count Hell The Sequel.
