These are some of the most insane technical performances of his entire career, which at 51 years old, is saying something. Say what you will about the album's content and lyrics, but there is not a weak performance from Eminem on this entire record. Even the tracks like "Bad One" that you complain about the "choppy flow," it was just a quick flow switch, out of about four on the last verse alone.

To me, the purpose of the tracks after Guilty Conscience 2 is to show Eminem finally getting over the Shady character, being true to his himself and reflecting on his life and what he’ll leave behind(which makes sense considering he’s over 50 years old).
With Temporary & Somebody Save Me, you get em being more emotional and discussing his family, the many problems he’s had throughout his life(like he drug addiction), and how he wants them to think of him when he leaves.
In Tobey, he talks about his legacy in the rap game, and further points out how he gets disrespected by multiples articles and legends in HipHop.
Bad One is him embracing the new style he’s built with MTBMB, ultimately doing what he wants and being happy with it. That’s why he switches to a modern flow and delivery, even the beat is supposed to sound like Music.
Head Honcho is em thinking about the label he’s built and who he’s chosen to lead HipHop in a new direction after he’s done rapping. Ez mill takes up a lot of the song, so it’s em letting the new guard take the reins. considering the song’s called Head Honcho, and the songs features a rapper on his Label, I think it’s safe to assume him being the “Head Honcho” is him being the Owner.
Maybe it’s not the most concrete narrative, but for me at least, that’s how I interpret the intent of the last 5 songs, and it works for me.

19:28 I love this part. Em still is my goat. Yes, i hear other rappers more often, yes, his older voice is not as captivating as his young voice and so on......but he could rap like everybody, but for me, rap is still mainly about flow, rhyming words, technique, double meanings, punchlines. And he's simply the number one in that respect. Nowadays, style and being different are very important criteria. But for me, those aren't rap criteria. To be honest, I don't even understand how there can be a debate about whether he's the best or not. People can always say that it's not inspiring, or not for the streets, or too worn out, or they don't like it musically... or whatever, but he's the best rapper of all time.
Sometimes I also think that people only hate Eminem because they're disappointed that he doesn't do what they want, because they knew he could.😄

A little disappointing that most didn’t get the album concept. The album takes you through shady coming back to life, kidnapping M and M killing him. But through the album it makes it clear that it’s all in his head. Shady (personality is trying to come back) feeding M drugs so he can take over and M letting people know that if he does that, he can’t control tshady(drug use) and he would lose his daughters..
But again it’s all in his head, since he’s the same person. And on guilty conscience he realizes that. This is why on Houdini he says “kidnapping never did happen”
And if you play the album backwards it’s shady killing M

      Track one to 13 was a fire 🔥 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
N 2nd half was modern Em which was perfect to conclude the album Road rage I think the beat didn't fit him well
But every other track on the album is definitely was 🔥🔥

The narrative doesn’t end at the end of guilty conscience 2. The rest of the songs r super reflective since he has killed the character and is reflecting on his life with the character of slim shady

Easily his best album since Relapse. Id put it in the "Great" category. Eminem gives strong performances with his concept albums.
    Tier 1: SSLP, MMLP, TES
Tier 2: Death of Slim Shady, Relapse

Would recovery reach tier 2 for you or is it hanging around lower?

    • @adamconte3270
      @adamconte3270 Před měsícem +2

@edwardhill7297 I have it slightly lower. Recovery is a good album, that I think gets too much praise. It had too much of a pop sound for me. Don't get me wrong, I love tracks like Cold Wind Blows, On Fire, etc. I'm not sure I'd put it up there with Relapse or Death of Slim Shady though.
Recovery is probably his 6th best project. Potentially 7th if you count Hell The Sequel.
