      @@alexpereiraslefthookNah man even then, you gotta appreciate the mind games here whether or not Kenny lied about it. This lie literally got Drake addressing it all over social media. And not about every other allegations. Which clearly shows this was some serious temporary damage. Kendrick really foul for that but that's how he wanted to play this game ig. I would deduct points for lying on a diss track. But the damage it caused makes it up for it

Great production, a masterclass in delivery, he's so animated and finds a way to be funny while also being menacing. Extremely catchy where any given bar could get stuck in your head. • @svenniepennie4237
      @svenniepennie4237 Před 2 měsíci +35

      The daughter verse makes it easy to criticize the track, because we simply do not know whether she exists. I don't think it matters too much though, because it's such a harsh track overall. I also think that within the context of the beef, and how Kendrick used it to completely blindside, and overshadow Drake, the track was perfect.

    • @all-caps3927
      @all-caps3927 Před 2 měsíci +3

      @@svenniepennie4237 exactly, the daughter thing was a bit off if he doesn't have proof but who knows it could've been a metaphor for something else and maybe kendrick just didn't feel the need to miss it. Maybe it was an even deeper dig at drake because people actually believed it which reveals what people actually feel about drake, because if kendrick had said that about any other artist no one would believe him without proof.
      Besides that, the concept was one of a kind and boundary pushing. Everyone knows that an artists weak spot is their family, so dissecting an artist one family member at a time is what made it arguably the greatest diss of the all time.
      And the most telling part is that having heard the song, I knew everyone was thinking 'damn Kendrick has won'. When a diss is so good you know it can't get responded too, that's when its an all time classic and perfect diss.

    • @harrykane_
      @harrykane_ Před 2 měsíci +10

      Yeah like we can go back forth between Not like us and Euphoria but Meet the grahams has to be perfect. Kendrick clearly just didn't emphasize on the daughter bit people are only setting themselves up for disappointment if they rely on fact checking to determine whether or not this Diss track was good. I have another perspective on this...what if Kendrick low-key just wanted to scar Drake's image with a Pusha-T type bait , he knew everyone was gonna buy into it regardless without fact checking,which makes it a genuinely devious move. I know Kendrick shouldn't have lied, but that verse literally got Drake acting crazy 😭😂bro went straight to Instagram trynna disprove it, he found it to be a bigger issue than all the pdf file allegations. That's why it's absolutely a perfect for me. It's absolutely spine chilling.

    • @Zack-vi7is
      @Zack-vi7is Před 2 měsíci

      @@svenniepennie4237you could remove the whole daughter verse and it's still one of the most creative and disrespectful diss tracks of all time. And lies have never been an argument for knocking a diss track before so why are we doing that now? Ice Cube didn't have proof Eazy E and MC Ren were gay but he said it anyway lol. All that matters is that it's a believable and convincing lie. So long as it's not proven false definitively and people still consider it within the realm of possibility I think the verse is still valid.
      An associate of Kendricks said on IG live that they have proof the daughter exists but they're not going to expose her to online harassment over a rap beef. Could be cap tbf but it's not like we know she doesn't exist at all. There's definitely still a possibility she is real. So it seems as valid as any other lie told in diss tracks before.

      Kendrick didn't say whatever he could think of. He chose angles that he knew would work. Whether they're based on facts is hardly even relevant, but we know that some of the angles are based on facts. The point of diss tracks is to attack your opponent, and Kendrick did it effectively.
      Drake went hard with the gossip angles, but the problem is that nobody could relate any of it to Kendrick. Drake's best bars are all things we can actually connect with Kendrick. And Drake wasted that whole second verse dissing people he already dissed on Push Ups. He should've been going after Kendrick, with good angles, and good bars instead.

    This is the first time I agree with the list ALMOST entirely. I would only flip the spots for Family Matters and euphoria. Simply based on impact. There was no time to fully process Family Matters due to meet the grahams. Most of the list seems to have “impact “ as a factor. Which is cool, i love it. So since that is being included in the rankings. Family Matters moves down a tier and well ephoria is just amazing if not, great at least. It is so creative and lyrical. The second beat gave the people the feel that they wanted when it comes to diss tracks.
    Question:
    And why wasn’t 6:16 in La included?

      Cause the burden of proof does not fall onto Drake here. The one making the accusation has to provide proof. If I'd call you a child molester would you have to disprove it or would I have to provide proof for it? Kendrick has hard won the battle but stop trying to glaze and reason for everything he has done. Meet the grahams falls short for me because of that & its replayability

    The thing about Eminem never having a real formidable opponent is that everyone who is actually great pretty much universally respects him and don't want to battle him. That in itself gives him that mythical status as an unbeatable battler in mainstream rap. Em has never shied away from a battle. It's just that the only ones who have problems with him are usually irrelevant clout chasers like Benzino and MGK.
    I am going to dock points for the Mariah Carey feud tho. Not only is it cringe but he arguably lost because Mariah Carey clowned him and was clearly not as upset as Em was lol. Em beefing with a pop singer, and a woman at that was just a bad look.

    • @ZimzamsXD
      @ZimzamsXD Před 2 měsíci +3

      Calling Benzino an irrelevant clout chaser is displaying your ignorance. Go do your research, Em was *desperate* for Benzino's publication to acknowledge him. Thats why they beefed, Em wanted respect and recognition from The Source, not vice versa.

    • @Zack-vi7is
      @Zack-vi7is Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@ZimzamsXD Benzino as a rapper was absolutely irrelevant. And he was very obviously holding a grudge against Em because his magazine wasn't able to stop Em from becoming the biggest rapper in the world. You can act like Em started that but anyone familiar with the situation knows it was Benzino who initiated that whole thing because he was upset about Ems success.

      @@Zack-vi7is Man Eminem was mad at getting a 4/5 instead of a 5/5 and said he was overrated. If thats "starting it" to you then idk. He also clearly is not irrelevant, if that 5/5 rating means so much to Em that he's still salty over it 20 full years later. Also Em ducked Budden, so no. Your statement is not fact. The only time a real MC (we know Em must rate highly since he signed the guy to his label!) dissed him he went silent and tacked on a drake-esque jab about his girl years later.
