I did some quick math to see how fast the shots were at the end. Looks like it took 11 frames from shooting ~8 ft behind the blue line for the puck to hit the end boards which were ~83 ft away. If this video is playing at 60 fps, that comes to about ~0.183 seconds. 83 ft / 0.183 seconds gives 453.55 ft/sec which when you convert to miles per hour is ~309.24 mph. So Chara was hitting clappers at 310 mph lmao
I have started sending this video to friends and have challenged them to watch the entire video without LAUGHING or SMIRKING. 0 wins thus far and watching some of them try is just as enjoyable as watching Johnny shouting, “BOOF!!!!” The part that always gets me is the “oooh man good save. In NHL 13 I scored from behind my own net! Been trying to recreate it for years but no luck. Was on the penalty kill and won the face off. Had Drew Doughty flip the puck high and far out of the zone to clear it and the puck bounced a few times and somehow got past Crawford!
In NHL 14 I was able to consistently score by dumping the puck towards the net at the red line. As a left-handed player coming up the left side of the ice I would flick it towards the right side of the goalie and it would have just enough air to arc over his shoulder and rain down into the net. I wonder if that would still work in NHL 19.
