    If someone wants to get a TASTE of this world, jig-making is a good place to start…to see if you dig the concept. I’ve been tying my own jigs for a few years now and it’s great. I’ve stumbled into three or four great patterns that I know are unique to me. The nice thing is, you can go as simple or crazy as you want. You can spend $50 on some bands/skirts/tools…you can do what I ended up doing and use a fly tying vise to get super precise control of your colors and flash then install your own weed guards. Then there’s the next step beyond that, which is stuff like jig/plastic pouring. It’s kind of the ultimate within that world…but it takes an investment and a pretty significant amount of personal R&D, as it were.

    I think rod building and soft plastic casting are going to be my 2024 hobbies.

      Those are great hobbies to start! I tried rod building years ago. The hardest part for me to right was the epoxy for the guides! Was always sticky! Lol

      Make sure you get your A and B ratios as close as possible and don't forget the denatured or rubbing alcohol to clean surfaces. Also, there are some advanced UV flexible one part epoxies used for 3D resin printing now, that are also cost effective when considering the quantity if you plan on doing a lot or just want the convenience.

      And don't forget to mix the Flex Coat well. Bubbles can be released with an alcohol lamp after you apply the Flex Coat to your wraps.

    Thank you for the very concise and useful information. Doing some research with my youngest son (15), as he has a goal of making tackle and sharing his fishing journey with people. He fishes every day for several hours. If he's not doing chores or school work, he's fishing. He loves both fresh and saltwater. I figured he might as well chase that goal/dream while he is young - never know what it might turn in to.

      No, they aren’t imperative but if you want your bait to sink faster they will help.

    Where did you get your pricing? Do it essentials are all over the web for $50 or less. CNC start for around 80. I like your content, but unless we're looking at a huge price increase your pricing is way off.

      You didn’t hear me right. The essential series mold that are multi cavity around $92 on their site.
      A CNC mold with comparable number of cavities like the essential series molds have, would be around the $300 mark.

    • @MattLunaFishing
      @MattLunaFishing  Před 6 měsíci +1

      You’re correct but most aren’t multi cavity in similar volumes to an essential series mold. Most molds that are cnc and have similar cavity counts as the essential series are easily in the real of $300
