    I was crying from laughing when you revealed the name of this browser. This would be the perfect browser to have these features (to make it better...I mean shittier). The browser should have every time you open it a full page popup asking you to donate to the project (voluntary of course. You can decline it). Then whether you donated ever or not, this same popup page opens every time you open the browser. You close the donation popup, it stays gone until you scroll down/up. Then it reopens again, asking for money.
    The topper is, the browser itself should have its own crypto shitcoin (perhaps actually named shitcoin, smaller denominations of shitcoin could be called pisspennies). The thing with the donation soliciting page, is the browser will only accept donation in the form of its own shilled shitcoins and pisspennies. No other type currencies accepted.

      The donation link should go to a broken web page that uses Comet (that old web tech that stopped the page load from ever finishing), and all donation links on the official page should do the same, so that it just seems like the page is slow. The help should make an oblique reference to the real link being in the source, and the link in question should be _vertical_ instead of horizontal so it can be committed over multiple commits instead of being immediately visible.

    Unrivalled Inefficiency? Replace all sorts with a _copying_ bubble sort, with a random interjection of two or three bogosort steps first, and _don't_ delete intermediate steps until after sorting is complete. This obviously can run out of memory, so have all generated copies built, stored, and referenced via file I/O with no attempts at optimization, because premature optimization is bad. Also, always flush file handles on every I/O operation and store in triplicate for error correction, because a rogue cosmic ray flipping a bit in your sort buffer is obviously likely to blow up nuclear reactors that your computer has nothing to do with.

    I use Edge on linux (stable build). I use it for personal, but also have another build install for my work profile (super nice to have all my work data/bookmarks/history Sync'd to my work Microsoft account). I liked it so much for work a few years ago after the chromium migration that I switched my personal browser to edge (and sync to microsoft account instead of google). It really is a fantastic browser, and a lot of the microsoft content they like to push to you, can all be disabled.
    That aside -- I have been battling an issue with all Chromium browsers recently on both Debian 12 and popOS where my browser tabs will randomly crash (gives an error 11). I am not sure if it's related to a memory leak, bug, or what -- but it happens on both Chrome and Brave (including Edge). It's getting really frustrating and goes away for a few days/week at a time after system updates.

      Edge is a piece of garbage browser that no one uses. Everyone despise edge because is to bloated and crappy. Their bunch of liars and also forcing everyone to use it against user’s will. No wonder crappy edge market share is decreasing to 10.69% due to their dirty tactics. Crappy edge is digging its own grave. Just stick with google chrome.

    being bad is that you are trying to be good at something and failing. you have a purpose and you are bad at it.
    if you don't give a shit, you are not bad, on the contrary, you might be even good at not giving a shit and presenting annoying user experience. their purpose is presenting horrible user experience, and they are actually very good at that. so it's not the worst browser, it's a really good browser who aims to displease. and they are good at displeasing.

    This would be better implemented as an extension really. Actual browser forks are stupidly hard to maintain. They have to be continuously rebased against the upstream project. Even just maintaining patch sets against upstream is a total pain. That's quite a lot of work for a joke project.

    • @Ormaaj
      @Ormaaj Před 7 měsíci

      @@luimu It is a problem. A security bug in the javascript jit compiler, for example, can very easily lead to ACE and/or easy exploitation of side-channels to read secret information - by simply loading a web page. A browser is an enormous attack surface. Backporting security fixes is difficult and a waste of effort. Even for something like this following upstream is critical.

    • @luimu
      @luimu Před 7 měsíci

      @@Ormaaj I still don't see how having ACE exploit in this browser is bad. I think it could be a great feature in fact. If the user gets their shit stolen that's their issue, kinda signed up for it by installing a program called pissandshittium.

    If only we could erase what the current internet is and just start from scratch-ish. After all, the protocol isn't completely horrible, just get rid of HTML/CSS/JS. Either go full programming language and integrate all the features into one, or make a better markup language that doesn't require a separate programming language or stylesheet language. I've already been trying to incorporate some markup capabilities into my own language, the thought being that I could generate its documentation with the compiler, but who knows, if my language doesn't suck out of the gate then maybe others would want to use it.

    End of the day, a browser is a browser. We are discussing the color of apples here. Some apples may taste different but they are all apples. What I mean is that all the privacy and shit is completely irrelevant once you make a google account and login into some third party. The best privacy focused end result you should aim for is instead of trying to remove these trackers and blueprints, you need to lie to them and choose yourself what you want them to see. From a practical perspective, you need to create an environment specifically for browsing and interacting with internet following OPSEC conventions. Because in the end of the day, a lot of us require those corporate exclusive tools because corporates are most of the times the ones that can mobilize resources to make big things.
