Excellent information on Maui Hawaii travel, thanks for sharing. I plan on visiting some time.
Glad it was helpful! Hope you get a chance to visit Maui soon!
I live in Makawao, which is in upcountry Maui. The beaches are beautiful, but the upcountry area is majestic; and almost all of the beaches and mountain trails are within 20 to 60 minutes from my house. The weather is perfect year round in the upcountry area. Cool nights and warm days, and almost never hot or humid, with great trade winds. We retired here 2.5 years ago, just 4 months before the COVID BS started. In retrospect, we arrive right on time. It's a great place to be quarantined on.
I live all the way in kahana
Lmk we go cruise đ€«đ€đŸ
Have to agree with you about the beauty of upcountry, I've been to Maui 7 times now (just got back two weeks ago) I've also spent a month there last year. Every time we drive to the upcountry I just love it! Maui really is no ka oi!
Can I visit the volcano for free? Iâm renting a car. Let me know the tips !
We played at Pukalani golf course near you and itâs cooler there. Quiet neighborhood away from the maddening crowd.
One thing that is missing throughout this is the term respect! Respect for people, respect for place, respect for culture. Always leave somewhere nicer than when you got there. Please and thank you go a long way here. Understanding local customs and culture is essential to a successful vacation. Volunteer your time at some of the nonprofits for an immersive cultural experience.
Been to Maui twice. Haleakala is the most beautiful place I've ever been to. Those views are incredible, and I've traveled all around the world
For accommodations don't stay in Wailea unless you like to burn money. You can rent a condo in Kihei and go to all the beaches â±ïž and sit next to the people who paid to stay at the four seasons. If you can get to know the locals, I've always found them to be calm and gracious and just nice to be around.
I absolutely love Maui! I just got back two weeks ago, our 7th time visiting and I'm still watching videos because I miss is already! The road to Hana and Haleakala are two of the things I think people should experience when they visit Maui. Haleakala is truly incredible, I've watch the sunrise there, but yet to go back and watch the sunset, (which I believe you don't need a reservation for) My family and I love staying in a hotel in Lahaina for a few days then heading to stay in Kiehei for the remainder of our trip usually. It's a good way to wind down from the touristy vibe in Kaanapali, plus Kihei is much closer to the airport.
Awww đ, I just got back from Maui yesterday. I Loved it SO much.
Maui is the most Magical place I've ever Visited! We were supposed to visit Maui in Summer of 2020 for a Sweet 16, ended up celebrating a Sweet 18 August 2022 đ, it was 22 of us, 12 adults and 10 kids ranging from 10-19. We did alot, but did missed the most Western part of Island, we did the Luhau in Lahaina, we missed the parts of Road to Hana, due to parking and turned back from the hidden Red Sand Beach, visited Volcano and the Dry Lava Rocks at end of Road near Makena Beach State Park, we stayed at Wailea. I'm definitely going back to visit the places I missed, do the back Road to Hana, do more Lahaina area, perhaps watch Sunset from Volcano Summit and than Visit Waikiki & Pearl Harbor at end of trip on way back to State side.
Napili Shores Resort is definitely worth checking out. Reasonably priced, 2 pools, Gazebo restaurant, grills, amazing sunset views and a two minute walk to Napili Bay - one of the best bays on Maui in my opinion.
Super Interesting video! I went to Maui last March and now taking the rest of my family soon and you showed me a lot of new info! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! đ
Love your details! You are amazing instant fan.
Heading back in a couple weeks and I am so ready after the lack of travel the last couple of years. Great video!
Awesome - Have fun!
Maui is my favorite place. You did an exceptional job. Really wonderful video.
You could stay at any number of airbnb condo's right on the water for less than any resort. You are correct about spring and fall being cheaper to stay. I just checked what it would cost someone to stay at our place in West Maui in September. $317 a night which includes tax and fees, and you can save money by eating breakfast in the condo. Literally 50 feet from the water. We don't have a swim up bar, like a resort, but it's fun to cook a meal on the grill and eat ocean side without having to make a reservation.
I love West Maui! Especially Napili and Kahana
We go to Maui every year and avoid big resorts. You pay for things you may never use, Park a mile away from your room, have to pay additional fees for parking and crowded pools. And just over rated.
Resorts are actually better for the local, native population, which are getting priced out by Tourists using AirBnB and such, during up Monthly Rent.
@@RamonAcosta191 I get that if you are talking about places that havenât been historically vacation rentals. Our place is in a complex that was built in the 1970âs. It was zoned Hotel in the beginning. It has always been vacation rental units. If we were to rent out our place to a long term tenant, their rent would be close to 4 grand a month for a one bedroom 575 sq ft. Housing is for sure an issue on Maui. Iâm not sure what the answer is. Even the single family âaffordableâ houses being built are inching up towards a million $$$. Thatâs not sustainable.
As a born and raised Maui Local, that has family roots going back 200 years. After watching your video of " WHAT NO ONE TELLS YOU ABOUT MAUI"...I need to add to your information:
1. If you can't swim, have a bad heart condition, and are claustrophobic -PLEASE DO NOT SNORKEL!!! Almost every week on Maui, we hear about some visitor dying while snorkeling...so don't do it!
2. ALL OF MAUI'S BEACHES ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! IT'S A STATE OF HAWAII LAW THAT NO BEACH WILL EVER BECOME PRIVATE! AND REMEMBER...ENTER THE OCEAN AT YOUR
OWN RISK!
3. Maui locals do not go to Paia, due to the large of amount of visitors and price gouging that takes place at the Paia Stores. The only worthwhile place in Paia where locals go is a place called Mana Foods.
4. Everything on Maui is expensive! Be prepared for sticker shock!
5. Do not drink and drive on Maui. The Maui County Police Department has zero-tolerance for driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal drugs. You will be arrested if caught while driving intoxicated.
6. Do not flash a shaka sign to locals...it's disrespectful. A head nod is a better option.
7. If you need to speak to a local about anything...remember to be humble when speaking to them.
8. Heavy property crimes on Maui at the high visitor locations, please remember to secure all valuables in your hotel room, or if you have to take them with you...don't just leave it laying around...because someone will take them and you will never see it again!!
9. Maui only has ONE hospital, under Maui Health Systems/ Kaiser Hawaii. It's located in Wailuku. The Emergency Department is open 24/7.
10. Do not take any rocks you find on Maui home with you. Leave the rocks, the sand, and whatever else back on Maui.
11. Lastly, IF IN DOUBT ABOUT GOING OUT IN THE OCEAN...DON'T GO OUT! STAY ON THE BEACH OR SWIM IN THE POOL AT THE HOTEL. FYI- WAINAPANAPE STATE PARK IN HANA IS A BAD AREA TO GO SWIMMING! LOCALS AND VISITORS HAVE DROWNED THERE!
Remember, Maui is not some magical place in LALA land.
Take care and be safe when on Maui.
Thank you for adding this important info on ocean safety! Yes - so true, leave Maui in a better place than you found it - mahalo!
@@RunTheAtlas good copy and safe travels!!
can I add, bring the Aloha with you. Maui, and Hawaii in general, is not like the Brady Bunch trip. It's a rock in the middle of the ocean that has to have 99% of its infrastructure shipped to it so bring kindness, patience, respect and a lot of Aloha with you. It goes a long way.
Well said. Thanks.
Good tips cousin , my Uncle and Auntie still live there.
I miss my Ohana , breaks my heart I left I will return someday.
Thank God my uncle and auntie quit drinking , God is good!!!
nice & informativ video dear friendâ€ïžđđđ€very helpful for nature lovers like međđ·đnicely explain dearrrrđ€lv u â€ïž god bless both of you dearđ
Maui, known also as âThe Valley Isle,â is the second largest Hawaiian island. The island beloved for its world-famous beaches, the sacred Iao Valley, views of migrating humpback whales (during winter months), farm-to-table cuisine and the magnificent sunrise and sunset from Haleakala.
Great Video, we were there last year and loved it so much , we are coming back in 2 weeks. I was told tho Old Lahaina Luau doesnt do the fire show tho
Ah you are right, perhaps they used to. I can confirm that the Drums of The Pacific does have the fire dance, we went there during our trip and that's where the footage is from: drumsofthepacificmaui.com/
It is the best luau in my opinion. You don't sit squeezed in on long rows. You get to reserve more varieties of sitting. I didn't miss the fire show. The setting sunset behind the stage was more entertaining.
iâm moving from memphis to maui becaude memphis stinks now and this video will really help me! thank you :D
Glad it was helpful, enjoy your new beginnings in Maui! How exciting :D
Thank you!
Done the road to Hana at least 20 times. You DON'T need a Jeep. Just a high clearance vehicle.
Now I have seen the things that interest me đ”đđč
Thanks for all the details...check out VRBO for condo rentals in Kahana....$320 a night gets you beach front high up....more better tha dem bra foo foo hotels. Also, try looking into your camera...more personal...
Just fyi, the Old Lahaina Luau does not do fire dancing, also, Iâm not sure any of the video clips were at old Lahaina. And I donât know how you didnât mention Ululani Shave Ice!!! Itâs the BEST!
Yes the video clip was from Drums of the Pacific which does have the fire dance. Itâs important to ask them what comes with the luau because they vary based on the quality of entertainment and food!
@@RunTheAtlas oh gotcha, well in the video you say that the Old Lahaina Luau has fire dancing, so I just wanted to let people know that that is not the case.
Thanks for the correction!
I wished to live in maui
I would suggest looking at the camera. Its kinda weird with you looking off to the right throughout.
Yeah itâs pretty off setting đ
What about VRBO or air bnb?? Much much cheaper than hotels if you book early
Due to an estreme housing shortage for residents on Maui, county regulations have outlawed most Air B n B rentals of less than 30 days.
Check out airbnbs for a much better nightly price and a nicer space.
Great advice!
Yes, I have one in Kihei. It runs between $240-$350 a night, sleeps 4-5 and is really nice! I donât use hotels personally. Why support a corporation? You get personal care, a kitchen, living room, etc.
@Julisa Adams, MA The problem with AirBnB is that it is making it unliveble for Locals, as Tourists using AirBnB are pricing out the Local Population by driving up the Rent.
@@RamonAcosta191 only based on illegal rentals. There should be some enforcement of the laws to solve the problem. Legal short term rentals are not the problem.
5 hours to Hana? Not
Mb if you drive 10 mph from Lahaina
Whoops I meant 5 hrs round trip! Def a full day experience since youâll want to stop off along the way and drive during the daylight
Nice video, but still waiting for the part that no one tells me about Maui...
you mean the fukushima plume or GMO corn with hepatitus innit?
@@federalreservebrown2507 that's what I'm taking about baby
Haleakala is not an "active" volcano. It is a dormant volcano.
Not what I read in my research: www.usgs.gov/observatories/hvo/active-volcanoes-hawaii
@@RunTheAtlas She is right. It's dormant. The active volcanos are on the Big Island of Hawaii. Great video though. Thanks for the great work.
@@RunTheAtlas interesting and thank you. All other info that I have read and even recently are calling it dormant. đ€
@@RunTheAtlas donât believe everything you read on the internet
It's Dormant.
Why not air bnb
AirBNB is a good call, just check all the extra fees and charges to make sure itâs not more than a hotel.
No need to pay crazy $300 a night prices. Do Air b n b and the like. Get half price and save $50 a night with free parking. Unlike Waikiki you need a car. Save 1/2 by leasing from local companies.
AirBnB are pricing out the local population by driving up Rental units price. It's really sad. AirBnB is a Catch22.
Its "Wailea" (not Waialea)
The whole island is within 60 minutes of your place
You forgot to mention Mama's Fish House...
Oh yes! Classic Maui spot. I have been wanting to try the Polynesian Back Pearl dessert there.
@@RunTheAtlas 6 months waiting list... Maybe one of the best restaurants in the USA
many more places to get good foot at... Mama's is more for just anniversary dinner's or something. Otherwise you're throwing away a ton of money and not experiencing the food trucks, hole in wall places, etc.
Who cares if I understand Maui? Just get me there as quickly as possible....
Riiight??
Look up the public beach law, you can't pass through private property and it has a clear beach access. The only part of the beach that is public is the waterline up to where the wave line come up to. Please do your research and respect the locals and remember we are all not on vacation.
looking down on Maui one sees a pregnant woman not a figure 8.
very complimentary video, thank you.
Yeah you definitely did not pronounce Wainapanapa the correct way.
i dont understand. why people like going to Maui?
Talked too soft like a golf tournament commentator
I want to watch sunrise on volcano so I need to pay or get pass before hand?
No one ever tells about the scorpions or big brown CENTIPEDES....
Oh my! Iâm glad I didnât encounter this! Was it on mount Haleakala?
@@RunTheAtlas 25 years in Kihei. Brown CENTIPEDES very common here. I've had 14 scorpion stings. Major burning. Centipedes here will cost you a limb. Tourist agents don't tell this info.
