US Air Force Globemaster departs Northolt for Ramstein. Runway 25 was in use at the time but for reasons unknown to me, this took off on Runway 07 with a slight tailwind which would probably explain the shallow climb out compared to other C-17 takeoffs from here.
Also seen at the end is one of the RAF's new Envoy aircraft returning.
I was a civilian mechanic and Work Leader on the C17 for 9 yrs. Great aircraft.
I want my own Globemaster, park it out front, impress the neighbors. Take it through McDonalds drive through, I feel as though chicks would dig me. hottie~ "There goes that dreamy guy who flattened McDonalds"

What’s amazing about this aircraft is it can land and take off at my local municipal airport, right along with the Cessnas 😂 truly a miracle of aviation engineering.

I am so lucky to Live In Abingdon, Oxfordshire in England and the C17 Always flies over my house and lands in the RAF bases close by, so so lucky :) It is a beautiful aircraft.
WOW beautiful. Amazed at how little runway it use to take off.
The Glodmaster transported our late Queens coffin to London when she died. The RAF also use them, but its an American plane. So I like to think that the Americans played a part in her procession.
The specific Globemaster (ZZ177) has become a bit of an icon since that mission :)
I had the opportunity to see it here in El Salvador, and that plane it's something amazing. You never get bored of watch it

I'm always amazed at how short a run down the runway these giants need before they rotate.
C 17 got airborne quickly, must’ve been lightly loaded. Impressive!

How fast are these birds rolling to achieve lift off?
All of my life I have been fascinated by military aircraft and the brillant engineering that goes into these amazing machines....but what is really nuts is how the landing gear can handle all that weight...and for all of you in all branches active duty or retired thanks for putting your asses in a sling to protect our country.....
For most aircraft its 130-150kt but I bet a C-17 its slightly lower
It all depends on takeoff gross weight, outside air temperature, and pressure altitude.
Obviously sans cargo. I get the 747 being a big very buoyant bird. The C17 doesn't give me that same impression. Amazing.

This plane was designed to do exactly that. Take off from a very short distance.

its a miltary modified PW2000 called the f117 its different than the PW2000. C17 crew cheif here.

C5 is the one that looks alot like tye AN225.

This is 100% a C17. C5s are much larger and cannot takeoff as quickly nor at that climb rate.
In addition, C5s have a different nose and don't have winglets
