- Let's do some landings! In this video, we're using the FREE UH-60L for DCS to do some sick landings. Also, some disgusting thrash I recorded for your enjoyment. Let me know in the comments your favorite way to land a hawk!
I donate 20% of what I make from CZcams to various aviation/military charities so the more you watch, the more you give! Check out my library of videos!
00:00 - Intro
00:20 - Hover Check
00:36 - VMC Approach and Landing (Standard landing)
02:15 - Roll-on Landing
04:42 - Terrain flight deceleration to a landing
05:37 - Slope Landing
09:40 - Roof-Top Landing

The techniques and tactics used in my videos are purely that of the simulated world of DCS. This does not represent real life flying, tactics, techniques, or aircraft capabilities. - Hry
Great Stuff!!!,
You can always tell a true professional by the casual narration and delivery of all the critical information.
Thanks Snak
Very kind!
@@SnakPakFlight that is all I heard from this side of the pond, solid.
@@FastJetPerformance Thanks man! You have an awesome channel! Gotta make my way to the UK one day. Been everywhere else in Europe but never crossed the channel.
@@SnakPakFlight We need to go fly DCS rotary together, it will give your channel a bump, buddy!
@@FastJetPerformance I'm down! I'm a newbie at DCS. Really only got it to play around in the hawk. You might have to talk me through some stuff.
As a UH60 pilot I am impressed with how you get all this good information into a short video. I am equally impressed with how the aerodynamics and behaviour of the helicopter is so realistic. Now the only thing they should add is Lowe airfield, chickenplant and a couple of stage fields and the whole AQC could be done at home :-)
Yeah, I'm hoping we get a realistic 60 in MSFS soon. They just dropped helicopters but only have a Bell 407 and some other weird one I've never heard of. Somebody wend and modeled all the airfields around Rucker so we just need the 60 now!
@@SnakPakFlight my brother is one of you guys, he retired a few years back and flies in the civ world I went USAF, they don't have a warrant program so I was stuck unless I got some degree. My eyes weren't good enough until a nice Colonel fixed them for me at Wright Patt. Its fun watching you fly one of these in DCS, I might pick up the 60 and surprise my brother with knowing some things I shouldn't.
@Yo Joe I was a space shuttle door gunner on the 40 MKW rotary cannon during the Kalgninoron invasion a few years ago. You are not an a space rocket pilot, I would know you.
@Yo Joe I was turned into a newt, run over by a Honda lawnmower, shredded into tiny bits, and just came back so we should have met if that is true.
@Yo Joe it patently obvious that you have never been turned into a newt, if you had you would know that you are not given a passport when that happens. You only get a passport when a squirrel has a group thang with some watermelons and a lamp post.
Then to get the hot beef injection one must first have a bridge built out of them, watch two movies about gladiators, have seen a grown man naked, spent time in a Turkish prison, and weigh as much as a duck.
Only then would your ammenables be compulsory to the juxtaposition of the chlamydian forceps in the event of another space invasion.
Thankfully we have real UH60 pilots flying DCS so we can avoid all of that. They are the true heroes, as they fly the top gun actors around.
Nice to see a real pilot experience in the sim! keep uploading
Thanks and I will!
That sloped landing was absolute sorcery and the fact that you're using basic hotas equipment is actually very encouraging for other people interested in trying this out.
I guess this puts to rest the myth that you need a bunch of fancy controls! I really enjoy seeing the pros take the time to give the rest of us some really great tips.
Ryan, true! But better controls do enhance the realism. Our simulators we use for training are much more sophisticated. I spent some money on a honeycomb yoke and the rest went to my Pc basically. I’m hoping some of the flight control companies will send me some of their stuff for review.
I flew fixed and rotor in rl and sims since the early days. I actually use two joysticks because helicopters are notorious for putting a lot of wear/tear quick as opposed to aircraft. I use my TM WH stick/throttle/pedals for all my fixed wing and use a Saitek X52 for helis. The main things about helis is regardless of the brand, you want a stick that had great feel around the neutral with zero deadzone. At first it will feel WAY to over sensitive but after practice just thinking about it moves the heli. During training I actually had to use a marble on a ceramic plate, sit it on my lap and be able to center it and hold it there.
My uncle used to love playing flight sims, all the way back to the early 2000's. He always wanted to fly a helicopter but never got the chance with work and then his brain cancer. I love watching these videos and imagining what he'd be saying with a big smile across his face. DCS is light years away from anything he ever played but he would have loved to get into this game.
He is in a better place doing exactly what you said he wanted to do brother.
@@jameslopez5652 You have a pure heart :)
I love instructors that talk through what they're doing, narrating their inputs and decisions. Love it!
It’s a pedagogical method called “modeling” and the key is to talk through not just the process but one’s own thought process as they complete the example for the student.
Was always really effective for me as well and I personally utilize that approach to great success in physical skills such as exercise and sports.
There is an Apache pilot who does DCS on here. I find it inappropriate to link other channels in a persons video, but if you search for him you will find him.
He does really good sim videos too.
It's funny how this stuff never leaves my brain. I graduated from Army Flight School in 2007 and stopped flying in 2012. Still, the moment you said Dynamic Rollover, I immediatlely thought, pivot point, rolling motion, critical angle. I thought I overwrote those mental bits years ago!
Thanks for serving, Eric!
Dude, I don't know a single thing about flying helicopters, but this was so informative. You're a great instructor bud.
Rotor wing guys are a different breed things they do with helos especially in shit hit the fan situations is nothing short of incredible
This video was actually amazing and I’m surprised to see how few subs you have!! You deserve many more and I think you’ll get it soon. This was reccomended to me randomly so I think you’re about to get the algorithm treatment! Best wishes to you man keep it up.
Very kind! Thanks for the inspiration!
Ikr
I guess you got to be pouring food on yourself and dancing like a moron to actually get likes today.
Very good video I liked it a lot!
I agree. I also saw his video randomly and subbed :)
@@G_de_Coligny He's at 3.52K subs already! Only been 3 days :D
Stay tuned for more videos of me in a bikin.....uhh flying in simulators.
Even though i had a basic idea on how to perform most of these landing techniques in sims, it was super interesting to see someone trained on the real thing demonstrating real skills in DCS. Thank you!
Thanks! Very kind
Inspirational, short, funny and entertaining at the same time.
4:10 "this would super illegal in real life but whatever ill do what i want cause im a bad boy" 😂
Dude, I love that you don't have expensive controls and you're just smoothly crushing it. This mod is great. I was an MTP from '05-'15 and the way you talk through the maneuvers takes me back to RL progression. Be safe my man.
“Dropping off some bearded dudes to blow their brains out” beat quote of the day
Def a great teacher, breaking down all inputs and explaining why it’s done and how the helicopter reacts to said input. Well done 👏
It is always a privilege for me to have a bit of a share of the extensive knowledge gained by a true professional. Your narration made it more immersive. Subbed the channel.
I miss those days. I flew with some of the greatest pilots. Thanks for your service and leadership sir!
That was very entertaining and informative thank you. It makes sense that you are a flight instructor. Your calm and matter-of-fact delivery keeps things digestible and approachable.
Kind of you to say. Thanks for watching!
Slopes are always lots of fun to hit, especially after I learned how to better incorporate the pedals. It was always a fun challenge to balance the forces of the collective and cyclic on both takeoffs and landings! Great video!
First class material right here, calm instructions and a very good flight!
Always good to see pro’s talking through the method.
Good job. Thank you! As a simple fan of GA I'm impressed with simplicity you're doing it! Landing with a thump is my favourite, even though I'd be scared in a real life. Take care!
Badass , man . I’m a fixed plane CFII but helos have always fascinated me . Thanks for serving . Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience
"Bearded dudes"!!! Love the videoes and the excellent information; fly safe my friend!
I don't play flight simulators, nor am I a pilot, but this was enthralling. Listening to his calm descriptions of his actions and the physics of his maneuvers had me watching start to finish.
This was cool, thanks for taking the time.
This was very interesting to watch! Thank you!
This was actually super interesting. Thanks!
This is awesome, thanks dude, I seem to have become addicted to flying the Blackhawk, can’t get enough of it
that was awesome! thank you so much for that very informative video. great content please more!
Dude, you're awesome.
I just got a Quest 2 headset and a 3080ti to play DCS in VR.
I downloaded this mod and was actually able to take off, make a few circles around the ships, and land back on the carrier thanks to your videos!
Nice! Glad you’re having fun. Tell Nvidia and Meta to sponsor me!
Awesome video. I've been a huge fan of the UH-60 since I first saw it and piloted it in every videogame and simulation I could get my hands on.
I knew a few of the maneuvers but still learned so many new things just from your narration. Especially the autorotation was super interesting.
Altho I will probably never pilot it for real in this lifetime, my dream is to fly in one before I die.
I was todays years old when I learned 99% of what's in this video. Very informative. My ex-wife used to be an Apache mechanic, but also worked on Blackhawks occasionally.
Very kind! Thank you!
Great feedback midflight, made it look easy
damn, you just took me back in time with that dust landing. got flooded with memories of being one of the guys jumping out of the side during the Iraq surge in 2007. Mad respect for al the Black hawk and Apache pilots out there.
Thanks for serving Ron. Landing in that shit is not fun but I'd not want to be the one jumping out the side.
Damn this is cool insight man!! You just popped up on my feed!
Awesome info and thank you for your service bro!!
That was a LOT of fun to watch! Thanks for making this video!
Awesome vid, look forward to more
Really enjoyed felt like I was sitting shotgun with an instructor. I've always dreamed of flying a helicopter. Thank you for awesome content and your service 👏
I've see a lot of sim videos, I mean a lot, like a lot of sim videos. This is a top 5, insane data dump. Thank you sir!
Well that's just too kind. Thanks Patrick
absolutely butters the landing at 2:12, "pretty easy, right" dude i wish, awesome video!!!
Rylee, you know how to get to Carnegie Hall, right?
Awesome video! Always apreciate when a "real guy" can teach us some good stuff in the sim skies.
PD: the old but gold Extreme 3D pro made stole me a smile =).
I was planning to fly a Blackhawk to work next week, so this video got recommended to me at just the right time. Thanks a ton!
Very cool man! Thanks for sharing!
That was extremely impressive. Respect!
Great video. Thank you!
The sound is incredible! Great flying 👌
Thx Jay!
I just got out of the USCG as a helo mech and met an army helo pilot in VTOL VR, he taught me some cool shit and it felt like back when I was aircrew and watching the AC coach the CP only I was now in the driver seat, though virtually. Cool experience overall
Thanks for serving, Coastie!
Wow . Excellent work. Nice setup. Love it 👍👍😎👈🏾🫵🏽.
cool calm collected very informative and entertaining :) wish you the best
That was awesome, would love to see more stuff like this!
Great stuff! I'll keep all these tips in mind the next time I find myself behind the stick of a Blackhawk 😄
That was awesome! Thank You!
Thanks! This is a great training reference for me. I saved it, so i can relearn to land if i take a break for too long lol.
Awesome. Nice to see man and machine synergy.
What an amazing video! Thank you! Soo cool to see, what is able, when you have learned it right. 😁
Cheers from Austria/Europe
That was an awesome video!!
Learned a lot.. thank you!
Thanks man!
as other comments have said, you deserve more subs. your videos are a joy to watch. from uk
Much appreciated
fantastic video!
That was epic. Thank you
I remember one time flying at a straight vertical wall at the Baghdad embassy inside a uh-60. I get chills thinking about it still lol.
This was amazing, thank you so much!
Amazing. Thanks ❤️
Great video! You earned a sub, i hope more will see the video and know that you have great contents!
sick video dude you know your stuff
Thank you!
Good stuff. I taught Hawks at Rucker for 8 years and miss flying that aircraft for sure!
Thank You Sir
Great work buddy 👍
Thanks for sharing
As a 60 chrewchief this was fun to watch you sound just like one of the old Stands W3 i had in hood
Great video! I was an Air Traffic controller at Ft. Rucker back in the day. Worked at Highbluff, Tabernacle and Molinelli range.
Badass! I was just at tab today!
Very nice Thanks!
Most entertaining & informative video i've seen in a while
This is awesome. I got a VR and HOTAS because I want to learn to fly Helos in games. I suck are running and gunning, so I figure I can best help the team by being a good pilot. You do such a great demonstrative job. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Thrustmaster just sent me their HOTAS! Can't wait to do a video with it
Sweet! Thanks a lot for the great video! Glad I found your channel.
Thanks for watching!
This was super interesting. I'd definitely like to see more videos like this
Preciate it nug! More coming!
been awhile since i flew a wirly bird, great example of what to do.. I shall try some of these...
good stuff sir they always seam to be a sitting duck in the battle i would feel a bit open to fire all the time great training this is must be brilliant in real life proud of you guys 8 TONS wow HEAVY it looks amazing
Awesome content!!
This was very fun to watch!
I love flying helicopters 😁 (in games)
old 15T here - loved this
That was fantastic!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Liked and subbed! Thanks for taking the time to do this, nothing better than seeing the real deal throw the aircraft around.
Thanks Mav! Super fun to make! Lots more coming
You earned my sub. Very cool.
Fantastic!!!!
12:40 Great video and great insights!! I knew the Blackhawk could handle rough landings! Everytime I land hard in helos in Squad, I lose about 20-40% of my hull HP which makes no sense! Those things are made for hot drops of troops. Glad to see another video proving how helos in Squad actually suck.
This video makes me want to learn the BH in DCS now :D I think I own it already...
This was fascinating thanks 🙏🏻
This was cool af
Well explained sir and nice video👍
That was awesome to watch. So cool man.
You have one of the most soft and interesting voices you could ever ask for in a instructor.
Amazing video. And really learned a lot. Thank you
You're not the first person to say this and I think it's strange because I find the sound of my own voice repulsive lol
@@SnakPakFlight HAHA!
I know exactly what you mean. I think Everyone does. Because you sound nothing like what you think you sound like.
You will get used to it, But yeah in the beginning its quite disturbing.
I remember the first time it happened to me, I was speaking at a Conference in from of 900 People. And suddenly the microphone started having delays. And it really messed me up, Because I spoke and then maybe 0,3 Sec later. I could hear it.
Lucky the Tech guys was fast and quickly changed the Mic, And I was able to focus and restart it again :)
But you have an amazing voice mate.
Awesome video! Crushing the sub-count based on your last few sentences in the video! Very well done. New sub here as well.
Wow your a Pro.. excellent job
Very informative video. I fly fpv quadcopters and occasionally airplanes on the SIM and in real life but it was very interesting to the point where I actually want to get this Sim and learn how to power through
The most mind blowing part to me, was the reverse input of the throttle quadrant and collective. My mind couldn’t make that make sense, I had to reverse my throttle so I pull to increase collective
