This weight class needs to do a
“super six tournament” like how super middle weight division did back in 2009-2011 that Andre ward won, the best fight the best. No excuses!
Makes no sense to have a super six tournament when we have an undisputed champion.
@@LegendInThaMakin Haney really lol cmon now. He got his belt handed to him, and then beat kambosas, some1 who should’ve never beat Lopez, and should’ve never had belts in the 1st place. I love all the top fighters. But they need to stop fighting old washed up fighters, and fight eachother. Look at how long lomachenko and Davis have been fighting for, and have never fought eachother. Davis is scared. Ryan is stuck with golden boy, and Oscar de la Hoya is protecting him, but I do believe Ryan is a top 3, haney is stuck rn having to fight Kambosas for a 2nd time, due to contract issued before they’re 1st fight. I can go on and on. To much knowledge in my head. In my opinion, I think a tournament would be perfect for this weight class. No hate brotha all love 🙏🏽
Would be awesome for the fans but fighters wouldn't do it and the money wouldnt be right
@@chrismartinez753 everybody forgets Haney got the WBC belt the same way Loma got it because both got it because the previous champion vacated it
@@chrismartinez753 the “belt handed to him” Narrative about Haney is dumb af.
On a technical level Loma is hands down one of the best lightweight boxers I’ve seen. Plus his fight experience is through the roof; Like 300 fights 👀
He stepped up one time and losed. How is so great. Tank is a better boxer than Teo. Tank has better gas and better skills with the same power.
That wasn’t pro fights that was ametuers
@@vamoneygroup Uff idk if Tank is a better boxer but I agree w everything else. Lopez showed he could box on the Lomachenko fight. I doubt any other lightweight, apart from Haney, could replicate the boxing IQ that Teo showed in that fight.
@@callofdutttyyy Well Tank is a southpaw, so from style standpoint Loma will have less advantages than when he fought Teo. Tank I think stops Loma.
@@vamoneygroup Homeboy, you can't even speak... Sit down.
I see it like this. Tank in a eventual Devin match( or whomever is the unified champion) will come out victorious. From past comments I can already see Tank probably will relinquish the belt after a while. His goals don't really involve the belts. So I don't see him personally losing the belt in a match but he himself choosing to disregard it.. Great vid 💯.. Not mad at the rankings
Tank has a regular belt Devin has all the “important” belts making him undisputed
@@BlahParrot67 okay but what that got to do with buddy comment
Apparently from sparring, devin has already won against Tank. They even bet on the match and Devin still came out on top
Can’t see Tank ever beating Haney. Haney takes such little risk when fighting, and Tanks whole fighting style is based on taking advantage of his opponents mistakes. Haney would win by a decent margin UD
@@heath6825 Agreed. Haney beats Tank. Loma beats Haney and Tank - and Teo in a rematch. Teo beats Kambosos in a rematch. Teo v Tank is unclear for me as is Teo v Haney. Probably lean Haney v Teo. All depends on the gameplan on the given day.
I agree with Loma still being at the top, I watched that fight against Lopez and remember how dominant Loma's second half comeback was compared to Lopez's first half performance. I remember thinking, oh there he is. Lopez fought a great fight that night especially that last round where it was all on the line.
Its too bad Loma is getting older now that all these young guys have the division stacked with talent. I hope he goes on a wild run fighting most of these guys before he calls it a career.
He had suffered an injury during the fight so he was fighting one handed half of the fight. Then said he didn’t want to go out like that so he said fuck it and risked it but it was enough because of the first half. I really hope Loma makes a comeback.
I remember it also and teofimo beat the crap outta loma in the last round
You must be smoking zaza through your *ss, the last round Loma almost got knocked out. What's wrong with you?!!!
Lmaoo only idiots still have loma on top....
@@zerx_skillz4041 teofimo leg was also broken
Love this list and how ur respecting the one old man whos hanging with the young ones. What makes a great fighter rather than a "one hit wonder" is longevity. The only struggle for loma is size, due to his aging self and being in ur mid 30's is considered on the older side, it taxes ones body way more. If he were to fight any of the top 8 within the next 2 years he has better chances but once he hits that old age of 37ish it'll be too late.
Specially the fact that the guy has been in 400+ competition. That’s mileage.

Facts
Experience, Technique, and physical attributes aside, something that greatly affects the outcome of a match is compatibility. How compatible are the 2 fighters style. I learned this while I was practicing with a full contact karate practitioner. He had a very hard and explosive way of fighting, while I’m more laid back and elusive with the way I fight. Yet for some reason he would always beat me 5 out of the 6 times we would fight. It took me a while until I realized that the reason why I kept loosing wasn’t because I was getting outclassed in technique, it was because he wasn’t compatible with me. His frame is very thick and wide, while mine is more lean and compact, I was more of a take my time and analyze type of fighter, he was a much quicker thinker and very good at seizing the moment and analyzing as he goes. Some of my techniques also wouldn’t work on him either as well as it did on others. Once I started realizing this I started learning ways to go around it. He was explosive, so I would take advantage of his recklessness and I would strike him in his blind spots, and since he wasn’t prepared for blows into his blind spot the damage was double. It took me a while to realize that just as incompatible as my opponent is with me, I am with him, and once I started to take advantage of the movements that used to cause me my defeats, then and only then did fighting get just a little bit easier.
I like where you have your top 8 list very accurate. Keep it up

Chess has a concept called Elo which is a great way of determining how good a player is in relation to other players based on the probability that that player would beat other players. I think a similar system would work well in boxing

Just found your channel and loving your videos bro
I have it ranked the same way as you do. I think Tank could definitely be higher eventually, but the level of opposition he's faced has been subpar compared to Loma, Haney, and Lopez, so we don't really know what he's fully capable of. He doesn't give himself many options when it comes to who he faces due to being signed with PBC/Showtime, which has the weakest roster of lightweights right now, most exceptional being Isaac Cruz and (maybe not now but in the future) Frank Martin. Top Rank and DAZN have all the talent right now and the toughest opposition to face. I believe Loma at 100% beats all of them, and that's not saying the rest aren't capable of winning, it's just his style is scissors and theirs is paper. Loma's rock is out there somewhere, it just hasn't been revealed yet
I disagree with that!! Everyone lomachenko has faced tank would be the favorite in!!! Gary Russell Jr is the biggest name of Lomachenko's resume and I have tank knocking him out!!! He's overrated and will get exposed again when he faces Devin Haney!!! And you groupies will find another excuse 🙄 😆

I know this video was made 9 months ago, but Tank’s resume is infinitely better than he gets credit for. These are the Ring Rankings of the guys Tank has beat:
_#1, #2, #3, #4, #6, #7._
That’s one of the Best Resumes in the Sport right now.
[Cruz was #9 when they fought, but he went up to #4 after they fought (and he’s actually #3 now).]
The level of talent in this Division is absolutely insane. Not only the guys at the Top, but even the prospects/lower ranked guys like: Ortiz, Muratalla, Lemos, Keyshawn Davis…
The Top 6-7 at Welterweight are also insanely good, but I still don’t think Welterweight is at the level of Lightweight.
These breakdowns are on the money. Love the simplicity in the presentation. 100.
i love the presentation with the white backrund and rgb headings

Not with a biased opinion!!! Still can't see how lomachenko could be #2 at lightweight after losing decisively to Teo!!! Who lost to a C+ fighter in Kambosos!!!
Devin is definitely number 1.
Loma has like a 65 inch reach.
While Devin has a 72 inch reach with great defense and ring control.
Loma is definitely gonna have difficulty going in because he was touched up by Pedraza who has a 70 inch reach.
Every inch matters and Devin uses it well now.
Fr and i know devin has studied how teo beat loma countless times
Thing is loma is good at finding angles and with that reach he obviously gonna fight inside so haney needs insane cardio
@@veryfatnom9912
Loma's defense is dependent on landing and having to be real close.
The range will definitely help Haney. Devin is not gonna be still for Loma and he isn't gonna throw his punches mindlessly.
Not too mention he literally got a witness protection title just so he didnt have to fight haney at 20 years old
I think Haney beats everyone bro he definitely wants to stay at the top

@@mongose14717 tank is 28th and has made a living knocking out small 122 pounders. You cannot tell me that the best boxer at 1:35 could never even heard Isaac Cruz. You can argue Isaac Cruz won that fight. Haney may deserve the spot because he is undisputed champion I still think Lomachenko is the best in the division until Shakur Stevenson gets in there I don’t see anybody ever beating Shakur but for now tank is nowhere near being number one he has not been proven yet I believe Lopez beats tank and I even believe Ryan García beats tank tank to meet is the hype job
we must also address why some top guys are reluctant to make some fights despite their support base and supposedly great ability e.g why Lloyd don't wanna see Tank fighting Haney et that also should contribute to the rankings
Leave Floyd out of it .
i fw your vids bro 🤘🏽
Great analysis.
Great vid and analysis especially because this division is really stacked. I agree with you even though im a haney fan I gotta see him beat another one of these top 8 guys or Loma himself before i can really argue with him being #2 just because of Lomas long reign... but I do expect Devin to beat him if they face off later than 2023 too. and your points on the disagreements we have are valid.i think tank would beat Teo, but he hasnt proved it against one of the top 8 so there aint no argument yet lol. Very thorough and clear perspective. It's funny because watching kambosos fight haney you'd think he'd get beat by anyone on this list, but watching the Teo fight it looks like he'd give anyone a good fight. He's a prime example of why fight math doesn't work lol. Styles make fights and on a good day any of these guys could snatch a belt off the right champion.
This sums it up the best.
Loma best win was Gary Russell who is better than all those guys he beat other than that he was good that's it.
On any good day none of these guys would make Haney look bad.. that is the difference.. we’re witnessing the next Floyd mayweather because he designed to “not lose” to anyone with any style on any day
@@thepanther5020 Loma does have two losses tho... most these guys have way longer resumes and less losses
@@bob-mb6ub yeah to me he can beat anyone in the weight class and it'd be tough to see any of them doing enough to win by decision, and harder to see him really getting caught with a ko

I like the way you think through this.👍
this video aged well LOL ggs

Teofimo is a super lightweight boxer now so i dont think he should be in the conversation anymore
Boxing is like Rock Paper Siscors
Pure boxer > boxer puncher
Boxer puncher > preassure fighter
Preassure fighter > pure boxer
Haney is a pure boxer and has defeated solid boxer punchers , Kambosos and Linares
Besides Devin Haney there is no other top 10 pure boxer at lightweight the closest one is Gamboa who he defeated already
The only preassure fighter he has defeated is Jojo Diaz
I think Devin Haney would unanimously be the best lightweight right now if Lomachenko wasnt around
Lomachenko is also a preassure fighter but unlike Jojo Diaz, he has been unified, Ring and lineal champion at 135
For Haney to solidify himself as the best Lightweight he would have to defeat Lomachenko
After he has done that he would have beaten the best fighters from each style
Ryan Garcia has already openly ducked Devin Haney as he was his mandotory and never pushed for the fight
Tank holds the WBA regular title but he has never pushed to become the mandotory for the real WBA Super belt
So i also believe they should not be in the discussion because either they are afraid or dont want to prove they are the best
I think Devin would easily beat lomachenko. It would be his easiest fight
@@jshine2live34 i hope Haney thinks the same way because of his recent comments it looks as if he gonna try to avoid fighting Lomachenko
Great video. Me personally it’s hard to consider Loma the best when him and Jojo have the most losses in the top 8. I also think most of these guys would beat Commey, Nakatani, etc. However, I agree with most of the placements on the list.
I think the reasons Loma is still placed highly is that most fans discard his first loss due to the rotten factors at play.
Not to mention loma has more career boxing wins (amateur) than all 7 other fighters combined (400+ wins).
His biggest detriment is honestly his age: can he hang with these young lions in their prime?
@Rakkety Tam that lost counts son!! Like it or not!! HE LOST!!! Plus he gets out pointed by Devin and slept 😴 by Tank!!! He's overrated!!!

this vid was well done and u made some great points explaining your rankings.. imo Tank has the most potential in the division bc of his mix of explosive power and fight iq. if he fights Loma, Haney, Teo.. those are tough competitive fights but i can see him beating all of em. i feel like he should go for the Ryan first tho because of the money and popularity of that fight. after Ryan, assuming Tank wins, he def gotta push hard for big legacy fights against the top dogs of the division (Loma, Haney, Teo). dare to be great.. whos gon be the last one standing??

Haney is very lucky to have fought for the belts, all of them against Kambosos, who was probably the weaker champ in recent time.
It's because Loma was scared of Haney.
this was a satisfying rewatch in 2024
Can you make videos ranking other divisions?
I would agree with Lomachenko being at the top if it were not for one thing. Lomachenko is 34 years old and hasn't been in the ring in almost a year. Ring rust plays a big role especially once a fighter becomes long in the tooth. And with no end to the war in Ukraine in sight, we may have very well seen the last of the Lomachenko that was arguably the best in the division.
Cool thing is recent news say he'll fight soon. Still agree with the ring rust though .
How was he the best in the division when he got beat by Lopez ??? 😃

@@Killacam1992 right! It’s on Loma for being stubborn and not cancelling the fight, but afterwards Teo and his dad refused a rematch because they knew they got immensely lucky.
@@seafirend I fully agree. While Loma did tear his shoulder one month before the fight his dad whose also his coach implored him to postpone the fight until he recovered but Loma was stubborn and this is where I give props to Lopez because he used shit talk as psychological warfare to aggravate Loma and get in his head and take advantage of his stubbornness. Then he boxed as conservatively and as smart as possible not taking any risks to beat Loma because Lopez never fights like that, he’s a smart fighter but he likes to take risks and throw bombs. he knew this was his only chance hence Lopez doesn’t want the rematch. I’m not making excuses for Loma or Lopez and while Loma is 10x a better boxer than Lopez there’s more to boxing then just the fighting aspect, it’s called the fight game for a reason and Lopez won the game that night.. This is wild tank would run through everyone accept for Haney no one can take a his power and his skills are so underrated he’s knocking out middleweights in sparring bro high iq why u think mayweather put him under his wing he knows but I still get the point of your argument bro
Tank's best win is Pedraza and that was no walk-over. Cruz gave him work too. Even Barrios did. Loma schools him and Haney frustrates him. Kambosos could potentially frustrate him, although I'd favour Tank. Teo could knock his ass out - but that goes both ways.
Well, this age very interestingly 😅 first, I thought Loma beat Haney and at super lightweight Ryan, hands-down beat Haney

@@ozzysgang7193 Naw, I’m a realist; and facts are facts, my boy. If the stats were the other way around, I’ll be stating those facts. But, if young and um (Cleared throat)… if people disagree - well I don’t give a sht.
you mentioned Pedraza and gamboa (who tank destroyed) as notable opponents for potential champions and then disregarded them when talking about tank. TANK is smoking anybody on that list. only ppl giving tank issues is haney and loma because of their good defence.
Hes not smoking someone like Teofimo
Tank's best win at 135 is an old Gamboa. Who has he beaten at 135 to be considered a top contender? Haney is the man at 135 regardless of what people say.
Great list. The only thing I’d change is Garcia over Kambosos. You gotta put some respect on his lightning speed wheather he talks a lot or not.
The best guy Tank has beat was Pedraza some years ago. And Pedraza had plenty of moments in that fight. I see Haney and Shakur giving him a boxing lesson, despite his ring iq being underrated, they are on a different level. I also see Kambosos’s activity giving Gervonta problems if he can’t knock him out
Good point but you are missing a obvious point. Devin or Shakur don’t pack enough of a punch to keep off of them kinda like Cruz did. If you are entering a fight and your DEFENSE is your greatest asset . You are one punch away from being knocked out! So ….Devin and Shakur, stay off the ropes!!!
