- In this tutorial we'll be going over how to use Adjustment Layers, which is a really unique feature for a vector design app like Affinity Designer.
Adjustment layers are non-destructive edits that you can make to the contents of a layer. And although they're normally reserved for pixel-based images, Affinity Designer lets you apply them to vector objects. In this tutorial we'll be going over how.

Wow. What a feature. And I really like your warm energetic voice.
I've been a Designer user since 2014 and these adjustment layer features are next level. I use them all the time.
This is Unique and productive tuturial! If u make a complete visual thumbnail tuturial with details in Affinity alone, it would be so good. Thanks
My favorite mentor
Thanks for showcasing this feature. No one is talking about this in any detail. I used to use this a lot in AI. I ended my accounts with Adobe so I am glad Serif is building AD out as a viable alternative. Now they need to add effects to lines / strokes. And Trace Bitmap.
I love the adjustment layer too
yes, all clients mostly will be happy if we`ve shipping the end product with several variations in term of color and fx . So easy to use adjustments always be cool to have .
Oh, this is amazing. I never knew what any of this was. Thank you!
Been watching your videos for a few years, starting with Inkscape, thank you for making videos to help us understand more about software like this. There's only so much you can learn on your own and sometimes you need a guide to understand the full potential of things. I mainly design logos, emotes , overlays (for twitch) and thumbnails (for youtube) on a very basic level in AD but I still learn alot from watching your videos =)
Affinity is so ahead of Adobe in the core functions, it’s just a matter of time before people make a massive exodus to the Affinity Suite.
Absolutely. My mission for 2023 is to make everyone aware of that.
I am slowly moving away from Clip Studio Paint and into Affinity Suite. I am really like it.
Hi great tutorials as usual, would you be able to do a more in-depth one on the channel aspect of this video? Thanks
Will your affinity tutorial teach me how to use every tool..i learned illustrator also
Yes, it's basically a series of explainer videos that teaches each tool and feature.
Affinity Designer has a lot of potential to be the best vector graphics editor... It just has to catch up with CorelDraw and a few features in AI
This is indeed a great feature. BUT, I cannot see the adjustments when I export out to vector-based formats, like PDF, it seems to only work if the resulting export is raster, that is, pixel based. Can you help me with this?
That was the first question on my mind. I haven't searched but did you find anything?
Does affinity have graphic styles
I'm not entirely sure what you mean by styles, but it does have filters and effects that allow you do apply various styles.
Yes it has...but a bit limited compared to Ai
Useless if you want to export in a vector format (eps, pdf or svg); it will rasterise as an image everything with an adjustment layer on top, which means you will lose these vectors.
