      Looking to upgrade from a freebie cooler bag from an old job with a few side pockets to something with a little more room - have you dont any review of backpack size cooler bags?
      This model in this video is on my list of potential purchases - but if i'm actually going to spend money on something I want it to be 'perfect' or more multi-purpose...maybe even have provisions for a laptop.
      Thanks. (currently checking out some of the other vids on your channel)

    I'm a local/regional truck driver who goes on overnight trips and I got this lunchbox to, like TUP, help cut down on costs of dining out. For my menus, I can fit up to 5 meals in it, including snacks!. Awesome lunchbox!

    Economy must be good to support that many trucks. Good on you for being smarter. When I have work, packing lunch is always a good way to ensure none of my preps go beyond the expiration date.
    My favorite EDC lunchbox is something I picked up in India. Over there these are just the norm, but they're stackable equal sized stainless steel bowls, bound together with a stainless steel handle.
    I put warmed food in the bottom, hot in the middle. dry nuts or fruits above that, and cold fruits or vegetables & a cold-pack in the top compartment.
    The whole thing comes apart at the end of the day and is easily hand or machine washable.

    Very cool, I have a very similar paring knife in my picnic basket. I have two more I take when we rent log cabins (dog friendly holiday, we have four dogs) the cabins are great, but I'm a bit 'cheffy' and the knives in any rental place never as good as home, so I bought two 'Kuhn Rikon' knives with sheaths, one large, and one small, and a long narrow 'Really Useful Box', which accommodates the knives and a tea towel.

    • @TheUrbanPrepper
      @TheUrbanPrepper  Před 10 lety

      Zyliss makes a great little pair knife. It's extremely sharp and great for its purpose. I like the bright color too. No one blinks an eye over it when used, verses if I were to use a tactical blade instead. Plus, for less than $10 it's very affordable.

    • @engineeredlifeform
      @engineeredlifeform Před 10 lety

      TheUrbanPrepper Not seen Zyliss brand much before, but a quick google shows they do a nice three piece set with sheaths, which might be just what I need for my touring caravan :-) I love the sheaths on these things, safer for transportation, and added safety when there are children and pets around.

    • @engineeredlifeform
      @engineeredlifeform Před 10 lety

      Oh, even more, Zyliss make plastic 'lettuce knives' which apparently reduce browning of the cut surface, and they are quite inexpensive. Worth a go, now the weather is improving and more salads will feature on the menu.

    That's the same oatmeal I pack for my husband's breakfast every day. He likes to eat at work.
    I'm afraid his set up is a lot more down market but it's functional. Dollar Tree sells insulated lunch totes, roughly square that work well as well as a ton of leak resistant containers for lunch salads etc. Also, check supermarkets after their school sales are done. I got him an Aladdin stainless steel insulated jar for soups for half price. I am prepared but thrifty. We save a lot of money by packing lunch. I do envy your set up though, Cliff. :D

As a state inspector, I spend about half of my work week in the office and half my week in the field doing inspections. Sometimes you want more that a cold sandwich. Ozark Trails makes a nice food jar that I've had for a while and carry often. I like a hot meal, but I can't always find a microwave when Im out on inspections so its nice to have the food jar.

    I used to do something similar for my evening meals do to have busy I am going straight from work to be with family and the kids activities that spans till about 9:30pm in the evening. I used to take hot soups hot foods, sandwiches, salads, and other things. My favorite thing to use was a Lunch Jar from Japan. However I just didn't have the time to prep and get things ready for the evening and still have it fresh. So I researched appetite suppressing foods. Now I just take several(2-3) hard boiled eggs, salami or other cured meat, aged cheese of some type, nuts usually raw almonds or walnuts, avocado, and maybe some dark chocolate. I take a smaller package now. It worked. I eat this slowly over several hours and I am not hungry. Even the next morning I am not hungry. I lost weight, put on muscle tone without trying, and I am far more energetic. Even my cholesterol went down and my HDL went up.

    Lol. This summer I was using a similar set up. I went into work at 2:00 pm, and then left work by 10:30 pm. Sure, there was a crappy food court, but after seeing how sanitary (not really) they were, I really didn't want to eat there. I did eat a lot of personal pizzas there although and a lot of yummy beef patties (pastry encasing cheap beef).
    I usually had meat, rice and a bit of veggies. Plus a container of cut up fruit. Sometimes I had an energy drink. I would have loved to use your StayFit container (much easier to portion stuff).
    I love Japanese bento boxes, so I have a few. I need to invest in a cheapy cooler bag as well.

To avoid purchasing food in the airport terminals I'm trying to find an insulated bag that could carry multiple meals or sandwiches keeping them fairly cold for a trip. Hotels usually have a small fridge so an ice pack would probably be brought along and thrown in the fridge at night. It also needs to be able to attach to rolling luggage and easily secured. Thanks for any advice that you have!

    No staff office for salt and pepper, microwave to heat your soup, fridge to cool your drink etc? All I need is an el cheapo lunch bag with a pocket.

    I feel your pain & had to give them trucks up years ago. Damned "roach-coaches", I've been brown-bagging ever since.

    Now what do I fill those food containers with? The biggest problem with bringing my lunch to work is finding a food to bring. I don't want to eat left overs at work and frozen pizza gets boring after a few days.
