    I too went down the Stanley lunch box coffee kit rabbit hole on YT, and came out with one of my all time favorite camping kits. I made a mini version with the 5.5qt lunch box. Use an Aeropress Go, the same titanium pot to heat water, which stores a 100g isobutane canister perfectly, paired with a Snow Peak GigaPower stove. I even made a diy table! I bring mine camping all the time, to hotels/airbnbs, road trips. Can always have a good cup of coffee or tea wherever you go.

    I've wanted to make a steel lunch box tea set, with a little camp stove, kettle, gongfu tea set, all packed into a box like that. I cant bear to pay retail though, so i keep heading to the Red White and Blue Thrifts up Ohio River Blvd and Sawmill Run Blvd

      That's a great idea! The thrift store on Ohio River was my second home growing up as a kid. That’s where my mom would shop. Then I ended up raising my family in Bellevue on N. Howard Ave. Thanks for watching.

    Boy I miss our lunch boxes as a kid. That little thermos and cup on top it was so fun. You could still get metal ones just like in these pictures but I think at that time metal was a throwback novelty more than anything, so we also had plastic ones.

    Nice video! I made a coffee kit from the lunchbox last year. Also can across the videos from Japan en Thailand but never realized the tea ceremony in their culture.
    I made the tabletop from an acacia cutting board and made a threefold piece. I use it on camping trips but it’s always in my car filled with water, Aeropress and beans. Nice so see more people are doing this now, can’t wait to see some new great ideas.

    Japanese tea ceremony practitioners have a portable tea woven basket with a small sized tea bowl,mini matcha tea caddy that nests in the bowl, bamboo whisk holder, mini whisk, foldable tea scoop and decorative silk coaster. You can do outdoor picnic style tea ceremony under fall maple leaves or spring cherry blossoms! I was lucky to buy one vintage set and one new set when I lived in Japan. I like your setup. I also watch the Thai guys who have their lunchbox coffee sets! I must make one too! ❤

    Dad was a machinist at the Rough and Ready Island Navy base in Stockton. He had one of those round top lunch boxes. Love the idea but $55 for the lunch box that holds just enough for perhaps 2 cups of coffee is a bit much for me, yes I’m cheap and drink lots of coffee lol. I have a collapsable camping bag that’s still small but bigger, has a metal frame to hold it up, a light weight metal top too, is like a mini chuck box that fits more without being huge or bulky and heavy folding flat for storage. That being said you’re video is very detailed and good thanks for all the info.👍🏻

    There's a reason that they were called lunch "pails".

    • @yinzology
      @yinzology  Před 5 měsíci

      Pails: "cylindrical bucket," mid-14c., paile, probably from Old French paele, paelle "cooking or frying pan, warming pan;" also a liquid measure, from Latin patella "small pan, little dish, platter," diminutive of patina "broad shallow pan, stew-pan" (see pan (n.)).

In the bottom, we're using three 10 oz thermoses and 2 sandwich boxes for lunch and snacks.
