- Kouri Richins is on trial for allegedly murdering her husband, Eric Richins. After his death, the medical examiner found five times the lethal dose of f*nt*n*l in his system. Now, a search warrant from May 2023 has been unsealed showing Kouri's mother, Lisa Darden, was previously investigated for the suspicious death of her romantic partner, shortly after Darden may have influenced the romantic partner to name Darden as the beneficiary on her partner's life insurance policy. Darden's partner's cause of death was an overdose of oxyc*d*ne, an opi*id similar to f*nt*n*l. This introduces MANY questions in Kouri's case moving forward.

Totally insane that the mother's ex partner died of painkiller OD in suspicious ways now. So freaky. I saw a previous doc where they interviewed Kouri's mom who was very sympathetic to her daughter of course but truthfully got weird feeling about her. So crazy that this came out now.
So, do we think Mama Lisa will toss Koury under the proverbial bus if she is charged?
At the least, IMO, Mama L is guilty of conspiring to wrongfully influence the testimony of her son.

I could see a world where Lisa’s death was accidental but Lisa and Kori used it as a template for how Eric should die. The partners was a narcotic addict so that is within the realm of likelihood.

What is meant by -" it doesn't look like she was in a recovery stage" is that , when a junkie is clean, and Goes Back to the junk, That's when they OD .

I think there might be a misunderstanding here. The detective says the girlfriend was *not* in recovery, and that in his experience, that makes an accidental OD less likely.
My understanding is that when people keep using a substance the body's tolerance builds, which is why more frequent/larger doses are needed to keep achieving the same level of intoxiaction. When someone goes into recovery they go thourgh detox, they spend a period of time clean, the body's heighened tolerance is no longer there.
This is why when someone is clean for a while and then relapses, often out of routine they take the same amount they did when they were last using - but they no longer have the previous tolerance, hence OD.
So saying that she's *not* in recovery means that she's most likely doing "standard" abuse of perscription drugs, she knows her dosage and has no reason to accidentally take an amount that she's not prepared to handle.

She means the Michael Peterson case and to be honest the link between him and that particular incident in Germany was tenuous. I also believe the forensic evidence in that case was discredited.
