2 cilinder engine. It is so powerful for a little garden tractor. I also have the same tractor as this guy and it pulls everything you want. It doesn't use any belts it just goes
We have a 3813. Never done anything besides oil change. Honda made too good of an entry level mower. Couldn't compete with box stores. But the Honda's are still around!!
Have you seen on CZcams the story about a guy who got letters from the state regarding a dam on his property? A couple of beavers made the dam and the guy's response is hilarious.
i had my tractor tires filled with rubber foam all 4 tires on my massey. big tall back tires cost about $3-$400 each and front $150 each. never had a flat tire since spending the $1200 on them. still going strong 6 years later.
Even pulling a trailer much lighter than that stay away from inclines. The trailer will push you down the hill and you cannot stop. Don't ask me how I know.
Instead of throwing away those other tires for the skid steer... You should fill them with foam.. It's relatively cheep. That's what we do on all our SkyTrak forklifts on big construction sites... They love picking up nails.. so the foam work wonders.
FYI - when you are hooking up the safety chains on trailer hitches, iit's a good idea to cross them under the hitch before you hook them up. That way if for some reason the hitch disconnects from the ball while you are driving, it will fall on the crossed chains and not dig into the ground/pavement/road.
I blew up a transmission on a Honda lawn tractor like that. Well, it still worked but lunged forward on an interval. Great machine, it was a huge load for it to tug.
Andrew, I used to have a problem with the tires on my riding lawnmower going flat all the time. But then I had tubes installed in all the tires many years ago and they have not gone flat since then. It was a lasting and cheap fix.
That beaver is already building the dam across the lawn. Won’t be long after the thaw and that part will be built up 12” or more. Water with beavers in it will get your dog sick too. Look up giardia to see what it is.
That's a lot of wood for sure. I watched another video like this where the gentleman actually mounted and/or tied (not sure which one) concrete blocks to the front of the lawn mower, and then it was able to stay on the ground; it's an idea if you haven't tried it yet - although that's a VERY heavy load. This is a useful video demonstration; thank you for posting.
Love to see you using safety chains. All my son in laws think it’s waist of time till one of them lost a boat and trailer on the highway. Luckily they were not going fast and the trailer tung went under the truck. They use safety chains now.
Hey Andrew you got to crisscross the trailer chains so if the hutchnunhitches and falls the chains will save it. Just given you a tip. Thanks for all the great videos.
I wish I had a good ride on mower like yours, there quite the horse, all you need is either weight reduce on the back or add weight on the front. The best machine I've got is a Honda 2 stroke lawn mower w/Quadra-drive, but you get a good feeling for those mini motors.
I have been running a lawn maintenance business out here in Hawaii for 13 years and have 9 zero turns. Flat tires used to be a daily battle with plugs. Now we put about a gallon of slime in each tire and no more headaches. Your tires are bigger but should work.
Reminds me of when i was a kid taking the old farmall tractor out in the field and seeing who could ride a wheelie the longest. God we where lucky we never got killed.
Can you hunt beaver in NY? They are open season year round here in FL, we used to have problems with them trying to dam up culverts. They are pretty tasty too, remove the glands and quarter, put in a crock pot like your favorite beef or venison stew, delicious.
aw come on, give that beaver some loads of dirt or roacks or something, on the lower side of the dam. can you imagine how happy he would be to come out of his house and be like "wow man that guy loves me, I will never eat that willow tree forever"
I like to use commercial heavy duty tire sealant on skidsteer tire and leave the nails in. If a nail gets pulled out then you use a mushroom plug. It has a gun that pushes the rubber mushroom into the tire and the mushroom shape stays in the tire and can't be pulled out. It is a great combo. I have never seen anyone else do this.
The Honda HT3813 uses an inline 2 cilinder engine just like a car. It has a beefy clutch just like a car with and it is shaft drive. The axles from the wheels are pretty big. It was made from 1985 to 1989. They used proper materials for this tractor. I also have this same one and it is really powerful with counter-weights and some mud tires.

The only thing that sucks about solid tires is that they aren't as good as air tires on snow. I used to work at a bobcat dealer and we had lots of air tires sent out to be foam filled. Foam filled tires work great. Ride fairly smooth

In AZ, the Mesquite tree thorns will kill Skid Steer Air Filled Tires. You can Foam fill them or go with the solid tires. It will spare you from the headache of flats and ruined rims, especially if you are doing land clearing and demolition type work. Foam fill the tires or there is a product called Tire Balls. They are commonly used in the cross-country ATV racing scene, but I do think that they make them for just about anything that gets used off road a lot.
Get that green slime stuff and load your tires up with that. You wont have a problem with flats again. I used that in my truck tire because it kept going flat and after that didnt have any more problems. Get the gallon pump of the stuff at either autozone or Walmart

Other good options for tires are Multiseal (which is high speed slime, way more expensive and have to order it), or foam filled tires. Solid tires are definitely the first option. Yeah, it is expensive, but having flats in the middle of nowhere on a job is expensive too.
We came home and I thought....Hmm, Lets search Trailer ball on Honda Mower" The thumb nail caught my eye...but then that voice!!!! Look who it is! Our friend Andrew!! How about that....
got a bit of a random idea thinking about this, why not just make a front wheel drive tractor? somewhat like a forklift that is built for tugging heavy loads? like pulling cars out of the woods or dragging logs or scrap to a pile
Your supposed to cross the chains, so if the trailer comes on hooked, it will land on the chain, your way it would fall throw the chain, safety first lol.
I've found you can get further towing with a lawn tractor if you back it. The rotation of the driving back wheels actually pushes the front down. As long as it's not too muddy, it's surprising what they'll do.
Pretty cool, but I think I can beat this. I had one employee who drove an MGB gt. I had a 4200 lb. boat trailer sitting 50 miles away where said employee lived. We needed the trailer, he said he would bring it back the next day, I assumed with his 1/2 ton van. He pulled the trailer 50 miles with barely any steering weight and struggling to stop with the MG's brakes. He pulls in and we unhitch him and I chastise him for abusing his car. He laughed. We had been cutting in a road at my boatyard with a Cat 963 for two days. We had a 20% grade and a dropoff of about 5' at the bottom. We had another day to go. He goes, "I am going to be the first to use the road." and drove the MG flying off the end onto the concrete of the Travelift pad below. Well, that was impressive, but then he made a running start of about 200' and drove up it.
hey andrew you should fill your front tires on your 1520 with foam.. then you wouldnt have to worry about them going flat on you anymore.. only issue is with the front end loader sometimes its nice to be able ti adjust the tire pressures for stability and comfort reasons as well as adjusting them up or down based on the load your lifting with the loader so you would loose all those capabilities if you filled them with foam but it is easy to do yourself just watch a few youtube videos on it. lots of people do it on their ZTR front caster tires.
You can get tires fill with foam or liquid silicone. That's not expensive to do. Most tire companies send them out to get filled. I believe there's a company in upstate New York that does that.
I love how you had the safety chains hooked to the lawn mower LMAO
Lol as if that lawn mower would be able to hold that trailer fully loaded anyways, if it were to get away.

Yeah I was kind of hoping to see that to.
I was thinking the same thing. A little more counterweight on the hood and the Honda would have pulled it fine.
Light Ning Exactly what I was thinking
I’m sure he would’ve done that but the Honda has a safety sensor in the seat. Maybe he should’ve had Levi sit in the seat while he rode on the hood.
You have to have weight on the seat
I think the bearing in your trailer wheel maybe gone too.
The axle is bent, a big tree fell on that trailer during hurricane Irene.
Yeah that right axle or baring looks shot
