Roger Moore was 46 when he started as Bond. Timothy Dalton started at age 41. Pierce Brosnan started at age 42.
Sir Sean Connery, 31 Sir Roger Moore, 45 Timothy Dalton, 40 Pierce Brosnan, 41 and Daniel Craig, 38. I would say Henry Cavill is at a perfect age to be James Bond.
Not according to EON
Sean Connery Played Bond from Age 31 to 41
Roger Moore Played Bond from Age 45 to 57
Pierce Brosnan Played Bond from Age 42 to 49
Need I say more? Age isn't a issue
Yeah but when Sean Connery was 31, he looked like he was in his 50s lol.
EON have said they're only looking at actors in their early 30's
@@davidjames579 Yeah, They said they want an actor they won't have to replace in 5 -7 years. They are looking for an actor that will commit to the role for 15 years.
Exactly, and even if Cavill was the first ever 42 year old Bond, why does it even matter?
@@carlosbermudez1240 What's with all the Henry Cavill simps? Like he's the only actor who can play Bond? It's not like they can't find anyone else if he's not an option lol They want someone who can commit to the role for at least a decade. Cavill might not be able or even want to do that.
Personally I think it’s a perfect place to start - we already saw Bond begins - Cavill could play a more established Bond imo and that’s really a huge part of the character.
He's my no. 1 pick for the next Bond. Is he too old to play Bond for 5 movies? Maybe, but I say just make 2 or 3 incredible movies and then move on to Aaron Taylor Johnson or someone else as a younger Bond just starting out.
When Henry Cavill auditioned for Casino Royale apparently he lost the part of Bond because he was too young.
Yeah and now he is in the same age group as his predecessors (Daniel was 48 and Pierce was 43 or 44) in bond roles and people were ok with it and some how he is old now. Talk about hypocrisy.. I don't know why people hide behind lies, just say you don't like him and don't want him as bond.
@@zaselimgamingvideos6881I don't think he's the right guy to play Bond.
@@zaselimgamingvideos6881It's not hypocrisy. He was too young to start then and he's too old to start now. Daniel Craig was in between when he started and in his early 50s when he finished. This is the exact same reason why Tom Hardy or Idris Elba have always been silly suggestions. It's not that complicated.
@@zaselimgamingvideos6881Craig was 38 in Casino Royale, not 48
@@brotherjohnnyxXxXHow? He's suave, professional, smooth talker, highly competent, and an intelligent speaker.
the oldest actor to be cast as bond was 45 when he first played him, and portrayed him for the most number of films out of any actor to have ever played bond, up until he was 57. so i wouldn’t say he’s too old to play bond at all, he’d only be slightly above the average age a bond actor is when they play him for the first time (which is 39)
Roger Moore played Bond starting at 45... made 7 movies... last one he was 57.
If someone would start with 45 now he would make like 3 movies before being too old
James Bond is one of those characters that needs maturity for the role.
With his workout schedule he could be bond until he is 55.
Hair dye and the gym are the fountain of youth.
Carvill isn't too old to play Bond. Moore, Dalton, and Brosnan were the same age as Carvill when they first played Bond. It depends on the direction they want to take the characters.
Very true I think Brosnan was like 44 when they filmed his first GoldenEye.
Doesn’t really matter movies take longer to make now and Broccoli already confirmed that the next bond will be in his 30s
In the book Moon Raker, Bond is 37 but he's been in Mi6 as a 00 Agent for a few years already. So depending on when the next Bond is set in his career, an actor able to currently pass as someone in the mid-30s would be the direction to go, imo.
Daniel Craig was 38 when he first cast as Bond, Henry is 40 and actually looks much younger than his age. He would make a great Bond or maybe a Bond Villain.
The appearance of people has changed a lot. We are looking younger and younger. Compare the high schoolers from years ago to now and you can really see it😂
Age is meaningless now.
Cavill could easily do a fantastic trilogy.
Well written, with a beginning and end, self contained, in a unique era - it could be something really special.
New segment… this actor was this old filming this iconic role!!!
Abe Vigoda (Det. Fish) was 53 when Barney Miller first aired in 1974
53 back then isn’t the same as 53 now. 53 in the 60s was wild. They had already seen 2 world wars by that point
Roger Moore was 45 when he played Bond the first time in live and Let Die.
And looked too old by his 3rd film
Never liked the Moore Bond
You're 50 fukn 2?!!??!?! You look great!
He looks like a pretty normal looking 52 year old man to me. and his age definetly, shows in his neck.
Henry Cavill is in amazing shape and it's difficult for me to believe that he wouldn't be able to play Bond into his mid-50's if he wanted.
He'll, Tom Cruise is over 60 and he's still running around (literally) playing Ethan Hunt.
You know all these actors get work done right?
@@yokiryuchan7655 What is your point?
@@DanielChannel89 That it's all fake.
@@yokiryuchan7655 I'm not just talking about how they look. I am talking about what they are capable of doing. Henry Cavill isn't that ripped because he had work done. The work Tom Cruise had done doesn't help him run and jump off stuff and do his own stunts. So again, I am not sure what your point is. Mine was that Cavill can absolutely still play Bond.
@@DanielChannel89 Henry Cavill is ripped because he has access to the best trainers, nutritionists, and performance enhancing drugs, hollywood has to offer lol. and they can easily add CGI muscles to any actor to make them look even more buff.
When I'm talking about "getting work done" I'm not just talking about Plastic surgery either.
My point is. an actor who has access to the best trainers, best food, best drugs, best everything being in "amazing shape" is not that impressive.
and what's with all you people simping for Henry Cavill anyway? I don't think he should play Bond to be honest. Not because he's too old, but because I don't think he's that good of an actor, and second it would be very redundant since he's played characters that are very similar to him in the past.
Bill Murray was 32 in Ghostbusters! People definitely looked older then than they do now
John's got a point here. Even if he's cast today as 007 he wouldn't be able to shoot probably until early 2026, maybe mid 2025. I mean, from what I understand there's no script, no director attached, no cast members announced, NOTHING, and here we are, having the perfect actor to replace Daniel Craig. I believe that those Broccoli guys just lost a great opportunity with Henry here.
If he was asked 5 years ago he would've probably got away with being bind but I like to see him play napoleon solo again man from U.N.C.L.E. suited him and he was a joy to watch and putting him with Guy Ritchie is a perfect partnership
Even if Cavill doesn't become Bond, he'd make a great Bond villain. He was an amazing villain in MI Fallout.
This. I think Cavill as a Bond villain would be a tremendous amount of fun!
As long as you take good care of yourself. You will look good for a long time heading into your 60s
John C... Henry Cavill's James bond campaign manager 😂😅
I love Craigs start, but Brosnan in an alt world could be wrapping up his tenor as Bond this year. I know Cavill is too famous to be the next Bond but him tenured as the role with good scripts could give us two decades of films.
Well the boss of Bond Barbara Broccoli has said that they want someone 30 to 40 so Henry could still have a shout but I'd pick Theo James if you've seen The Gentleman (TV Series) by Guy Ritchie you'll know want I mean.
No. Cavill is the best pick
Regarding the cast of Cheers, I thought Woody, Rebecca and Sam looked their ages, 20s and 30s. The people that looked way older than they were were Norm, Cliff, and Carla, and Frasier.
The actors that played Archie and Edith Bunker were like only 45-47 when they first started the TV show "All in the Family". I used to think they were 65 or 75 easy. And I thought the son-in-law Mike the Meathead was a 40 year old, but he was really only 24, 25.
Look at the cast of Grease, most of the actors were in their 20s and they were playing high school students. Stockard Channing was 28.
I mean it depends on what the story of the next Bond is, which I don’t think we even know. If the story centers around a seasoned Bond that’s been around for a bit, then I think Henry would be a great choice. If they’re going to “Batman Begins” it, then sure, shoot for someone w bit younger.
It will take at least 20 more years before Henry is too old for anything!
Pierce was 41 when he got cast…..same age as Henry! He’s not too old at all! Ideally yes a guy in his 30s for longevity but Henry would be great
His Bond tenure was 7 years. That would not work in the modern day production schedule. You may get 2 or at most 3 movies in that much if you are very lucky.
Jim Backus who played Thurston Howell III, as well as Mr. Magoo was 42-years-old when he played James Dean's father in Rebel Without A Cause, so he always appeared a bit older than his actual age.
Maybe they should do a one off with Henry or a different iteration of James Bond. People forget Sean Connery and if I'm not mistaken Roger Moore both had James Bond movies out the same year or something like that. Both Sean and Roger played the character differently.
John was right Denver was in his 29-30 of age when he started Gilligan's
Ray added an extra decade 😅
40 is the new 30. There is no reason why Henry Cavill couldn't do 4 Bond films over the next 12 years.
There is movies aren’t made that fast anymore. Between Skyfall and Specter where 4 years and between Specter and No Time to die where 5 years
I think John is secretly in love with Cavill
Secretly?
Also, there is a line, we are all in love with Cavill
Cavill is a good but not great actor and that's why they don't want him.
I thought it was already a done deal that Aaron Taylor Johnson is the next bond. I didn't know the casting was still open.
Why would you think that? A tabloid newspaper known for regularly lying quoted their anonymous inside source. But aside from that there's been no other breaks on this. EON or Amazon haven't announced anything. Even Taylor Johnson's wife said she knows nothing about it. It's the same news sources that say Tom Hardy, Tom Hiddlestone or Idris Elba are playing Bond.
I don’t think he’s too old to be Bond if he’s gonna be him for a few years but the direction they want to go in is to have the next Bond be in the role for 15 years
Isn’t it weird realizing your the same age as old people.
Henry Cavill is Superman...Henry Cavill is the Witcher... and he definitely should be James Bond for at least three movies...💯
This was an interesting segment. Hilarious
This kind of dismissal also hints that he's got it.
wait John... you're in your 50s!!
If Cavill is getting too old for the role, then I totally would cast him as a bond villain someday. Mission Impossible shows he can do those roles.
If Cavill is too old to be Bond then maybe the producers should find their next Bond at an elementary school.
Does James Bond never age?
Damn. I'm as old as people I looked at as old-ish.😅
Previous men who portrayed James Bond in the past….. before the Daniel Craig era….were over 40 when they started as 007 : Roger Mooré Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan ! But at this time it was a Bond movie done every two years…
I’d say that’s Henry saying he’s been told it’s not him
Connery and Moore played old bond...
Actually he is the right age to play James Bind.
No he isn’t
@@Carlo_ReNews he is but they don't want him because they don't think he's a good enough actor.
@@Dru2037 Why do you think that. Broccoli out right said that the next Bond will be in his 30s so Cavill is out of the picture
Henry cavill would be great to play James Bond.
Ian Fleming didn't base James Bond on Gus March-Phillipps that Henry Cavill is playing here, it's based on several historical spies, most notably Dusko Popov, a double agent in WW2
Superman can play bond
i thought Aaron Tylor Johnson in the talks for James Bond
henry cavill will not be bond but people still will not let it go
the ATJ rumor has been around for a while but nothing has been confirmed
Cavill is a B level actor but an A level person so people want to see him in a role he always wanted.
Roger Moore was older than Sean Connery when he was cast so it shouldn't be a concern
One of the most common complaints about Moore was that he looked too old a few movies in. And this is at a time where a film could be churned out in months, not years.
He is perfect James Bond 007..film choice and perfect ❤❤😊
Luvvveee!!
I'd rather see him do something else. Something original.
He could easily be Bond for the next 12 years. At one film every three years that is four films. I think that is fine if they want him.
That is operating under the idea that he starts shooting immediately and does no major projects in between Bond movies. 12 years from now realistically is 3 movies at most.
quiero henry cavill 007 es mas guapo amo mucho eres mi love 😍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😍😍🥰💚💚💖💙💙💙
Hell no hes not to old at all
Then why the F they rejected him before by saying he was too young? The should go with the same system they always go with as 3-4 movies for every bond. Daniel was 38 or 39 when he started as bond so Henry is in right age. Pierce was 42 or 43 when he played his 1st bond movie.
They can change their priority. Maybe they saw the amount of injuries that Craig had to recover from and the various production issues and realized they need a younger actor for the role to last 15-20 years and produce 5 films.
You have a lot of good 👍 choices Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Rami Malek, Aaron Taylor Johnson and Henry Golding!
Rich Eisen is great. One of the better spprts shows these days
I hate that everyone keeps bringing up the Cheers cast.
The show was on for 11 years. Whenever people mention how young they were, but how old they look. They use a picture of the cast in the later seasons.
If you watch the first seasons they look roughly their age. Fir those who haven't seen Cheers Ted Danson was also in the first Creepshow which was released in the same year as Cheers.
Roger Moore was almost 60 and still doing Bond
True, but he actually regretted playing the role for as long as he did and felt he should have stopped after For Your Eyes Only (his last good one).
@@ThunderForce2000 58 in the last movie and that did show
I'd love to see Cavill has a Bond villain, you get sense Bond had met his match
Gotta be making Cavill feel like absolute shit though...told he was too young to be Bond last time and now too old...similar with Superman, missed out the once and then Gunn says his too old even though he was recasting anyway
Too old to be bond
Roger Moore was 57 when he left the franchise
I love that they're comparing their ages to the Gilligan's Island cast like they don't look just as old as them. I'm 57 and I'm still wearing my youth-goggles... so I don't look a day over 35 (to myself).
😂😂😂
The reason Sean Connery and many other actors look older than they really are is because everyone used to smoke back in the day. Smoking cigarettes daily will age you very quickly.
Also they lived through the Great Depression and WW2.
That will make you harden you too.
And how old was Daniel Craig as bond
38
@policevanposition1993 well googling now and cavill is only half British I'm a stick in the mud and believe bond should be 100% British
@@seanowens1073he's literally more British than most Brits
He's from jersey. It makes him incredibly British lmao
@TheMagicJIZZ well I suppose it doesn't matter because Sean Connery played a Spaniard in highlander and Connor mcloud was French lol
Yeah, ideally they need to cast someone in their late 20s/early 30s. Plus, I think Henry is too busy at this point, and you need an actor who can devote the time to Bond.
3 years with no bone announcement the brocollis must have made a ton of money from NTTD
Pierce Brosnan was 42 when his first Bond released.
Yeah but they wanted to cast Pierce when he was 32, it just the production got held up for 10 years and in between that they extended Roger Moore for one more movie and Timothy Dalton for two movies.
@@John-ct9zs With Pierce he couldn’t get out of Remington Steele to do it either. But they went back to him. Hopefully they do that with Cavill.
Brosnan’s entire Bond stinct lasted 7 years. GoldenEye came out in 95 and DAD came out in 02. There is no way a new Bond would be hired for just 7 years. That would result in 2, at most 3 movies at most with the actor.
@@nikunjdixit3225 I didn’t think they would ever kill the character either. Who knows. I would just love to see him in the role.
@@AgentSolo95 Well, that’s a story related thing. They have never hired Bond actors with the intention of just doing a couple of movies. Even Dalton was asked to come back for GoldenEye but he opted out because he was too old.
Here’s the thing, I think people are overthinking the age thing way too much when it comes to Bond, mathematically speaking with the ages of these actors and the rate that these Bond movies come out unless you’re willing to be flexible you’re looking at an average of these actors only getting to do like 3 movies before the internet proclaims that they’re too old for the part, you guys are being way too picky and restricting yourselves way too much, what it really comes down to is is said actor still physically capable of being Bond? If they can still fight, do some stunts (Which by the way Bond never really does *SUPER* extravagant/physically demanding stunts anyways, this is James Bond guys, not Kingsman) etc. then for all intents and purposes keep them, and as of now Henry Cavill isn’t showing any signs of old age, the dude just had 2 spy movies this year that both show he’s not slowing down in his age anytime soon, and just because it’s a high number of years in which he plays the part doesn’t mean there’s gonna be a shit ton of movies, Daniel Craig played Bond for 15 years but only made 5 movies, so why are we over here acting like the next Bond needs to make like 12 movies? And so I think even if he’s a bit older as long as he’s still physically capable of playing the part it doesn’t matter, cause like with any of the Bond actors it’s not like any of them need to make a decade’s worth of movies during their run, they all have a pretty small number of movies, people just think they’re bigger because of how long they were *in the role*
More like too recognizable
a lot of those old school actors and actresses were prb cigarette smokers from an early age/ no sunscreen and booze the age speed running trifecta
How about he play as bond villian
Henry Cavill should be a Bond villain
Actualy i am really ok with this. If Nolan takes it and does a reboot with younger 007 based in cold war times i am all for Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Cavill is in everything thise days, let him be... He was fine superman but god damn grow up. Higlender, 40 K universe... and 1000 other speculations.
That doesn’t make sense given how old all the other actors were.
Given the long gaps between movies, I think EON are looking for actors in their late 20s early 30s. That being said I do wish they hauled ass because Cavill would be terrific.
Roger Moore was three years older than Sean Connery, this is stupid excuse
@@adamcade604Comparing 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s to now is silly. Production schedules are a lot longer. Actors also like to do other things between Bond projects. Craig had the longest tenure as Bond but far from the most movies. There’s a reason for that.
@@pelicanchampion8629 he’s only 2 years older than Craig was. Honestly, I don’t really have an opinion because I feel like there are so many copy-cat type bond films out now that I’m really not chomping at the bit for one.
This segment was depressing 😂😂😂😂😂
I mean if Pedro Pascal can start playing Reed Richards at 49 in the MCU for the next 15 or so years, then Henry can at least do a trilogy as Bond!
true but he should have not been cast at that age
Craig was like 37 when he started so hiring henry would be somewhat redundant age wise
back in the day they said he was to young for the roll.. and now he is to old?
They want to go with a younger Bond for the next 10 years.
Yes, time does exist.
He’s been too old for years now. They’ve said they’d want an actor to be committed for the next decade or so, so all the actors now late 30s / in their 40s are very unlikely to be the Bond, unless they just do one, but I don’t see that being the strategy.
WB occupied and slept on him. underutilized.
He isn't an amazing actor TBH but he is hardworking and has a look and accent
They called Cavill too old for Superman too. He was actually the perfect age when they started, but they just kept delaying a true sequel to MOS that we all got older.
@@John-ct9zs 100 percent. WB poorly managed a bunch.
E.g. besides Aquaman 2 not being good, Aquaman and Shazam sequels should have been fast tracked
BvS was such a terrible substitute for a BIG eventful movie about Superman that wasn't just his origin story but Henry should have had that chance right after JL
Really he should have had that chance BEFORE Justice League but that would involve them not killing him in his second onscreen appearance!
Henry Cavill too old?~ This is the right time He is the perfect age for Bond ~ Such nonesense I don't know why he would say that.
Our James Bond only HenryCavill..he is perfect copy of Sean Connery 😊❤❤❤
If he gets it great… but I would love to see either Robert Pattinson, purely coz of him in Tenet. Sam Heughan from ‘Outlander’ that dude just looks like he’s already been James Bond when he’s in a tuxedo. Sope Dirisu who is great in ‘Gangs of London’ or Andrew Koji from ‘Warrior’ whos just awesome in that show
Personally, I wouldn't really want Robert Pattinson as Bond.
What now?
Henry looks like a guy who has good genes when it comes to aging, Daniel Graig was 38 when he played he's first James Bond , and Roger Moore was 45 in his first bond and 57 in his last, Timothy Dalton was 41, Pierce Brosnan was 42, to mention a few... In short life begins @ 40, that's when you are a fully grown man who fully knows himself and the World.
i dare everyone to have this conversation with daniel craig. this is just dumb. if he can do it, henry cavill certainly can.
No it’s not. I don’t know why it’s difficult for people to understand. It takes time for these Bond movies to be made and actors want to do other projects in between. If you want a Bond that makes at least 4 movies, you want to start with someone younger.
@@nikunjdixit3225 it's not what???
