I was a kid in the 70's so I was too young to see them in concert. I was 15 when they broke up after Bonham died and with it my dream of seeing them live. My dream came true when Page/Plant toured in 1998. It was a MF BANGER let me tell you! Been to 200+ concerts and to this day it's is still hands down the best show ever!

I had tickets to see them and then the show was cancelled because Bonham died. Dang. Saw Plant alone when he had that solo album - not good but SRV was the opener - great!

I got to see these guys in Seattle just before Robert Plant's young son passed away from a stomach virus. They were amazing! Then Bonham died a few years later and they split apart. Concert of a lifetime for me! ❀

I got to see Robert Plant in concert in 2015 he did a few Zeppelin songs and then his songs. He can still jam ( or at least he could in 2015). That being said I envy you girl. Wish I could have seen the whole band together.

I've been to countless concerts in the 60's. I've seen some of the biggest names. I saw Janis Joplin warm up for Jimi Hendrix. I saw The Who warm up for The Doors. I saw Pink Floyd too....but my biggest regret was I never saw Led Zeppelin. When they came to NY for that famous 1973 concert at MSG, I was in the Navy and far from home. I know how you feel dude...I see their live performances and I just WISH I had been there

You don't have anything to apologize for. It's so amazing that you are so open to exploring all forms of music, especially since you are so young. I'm almost 62 and have heard all the oldies, but you give a fresh spin on this music with deep incites that never occurred to me. Also, you are so good at this that I have listened to things I never heard before or heard but didn't like when they came out just to hear your take on them. You (and Chrys) have such an honest, positive, and welcoming personality that really comes across in your videos, as well. Thank you for all of this.

What separates Led Zeppelin from more recent phenomenons (Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears...) is that Zeppelin's music has proven to be powerful and timeless, whereas industry- manufactured pop music from 1999 sounds dated and silly w/ time... Something about artists like Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Kiss, Van Halen, Aerosmith, The Eagles, Rainbow, Motley Crue, AC/DC, Queen, The Police, Rush ... appeal to that basic framework of aggression, authenticity, passion, melody, and energy that our minds connect with sonically...
Of course, there are tons of artists from that era that don't get the credit they deserve for their music... one could argue that The Ramones, T-Rex, Slade, Sweet, Mott the Hoople, Blue Oyster Cult, The Sex Pistols, etc. generated a large fanbase, but not enough to take them to the next level of admiration.
As for Led Zeppelin, the band has not existed as a recording or touring entity since 1980. Still, thousands of young fans check out their music on streams & CZcams, and buy their records, download their songs & blast them in their ears. And given that they are free to listen to (unlike me, who had to pay money to listen to their records as a kid) and generate views and likes says it all.
Robert Plant, Jimmy Page & John Paul Jones have all put out records, but have had nowhere near the success of Zeppelin. There was just special about them 4 making music as Led Zeppelin... same w/ The Beatles, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix Experience, Z Z Top, Black Sabbath, etc... That unique musical chemistry created their great music.
One of my fave songs by Led Zeppelin is 'Dancing days'... it's not as heavy, but that melody sticks in your head đŸ”„đŸ”„đŸ€˜đŸ€˜

That is exactly what Pagey wanted when he formed Zep. A 4 man group where each musician could stand out in their own rite on the first LP. And they do. Saw them live 1975,Long Beach Arena ,Calif. $7.50 per ticket. Met and smoked a cig with Pagey during a break when he gigged with Yardbirds (with Jeff Beck) ,1967,LaPorte Indiana Nat'l Guard Armory. Ticket that night about $1.50. Small crowd where I stood right in front of the band at eye level. They set up on low tables and floor. Pagey was very likeable and he liked my Kool menthol cigs.

Led Zeppelin was the only band that never put out a single. It made them richer and more popular than any band of that time. They were only together 10 years. When the drummer, John Bonham died, they decided they couldn’t replace him and disbanded. John was only 32 when he died of suffocation on his own vomit. They said he had drunk as many as 40 shots of Vidka that day and passed out. He never woke up. He was decidedly the best drummer ever. Jimmy Pagr, guitarist got hooked on heroin for awhile but straightened his life out. They were a truly great band. Jimmy Page was the greatest guitar player in my book. Him and Robert Plant did a lot of things together after the band. Plant a great solo career as well. I wish you could have seen them in person.

We were so lucky in the 1970's to be able to see these bands as it was brilliant, also affordable unlike today when it costs a fortune, quite often friends would just turn up and tell you they had you a ticket to see whoever, also the summer festivals in the UK were a big thing, whole day or days just watching bands. I suppose I was lucky living in London as everyone played there from whichever part of the world they were from. Last concert I went to we weren't allowed to get up and dance or stand up, an absolute joke. We never went to another one after that it was mid 2000's

I'm so weird that there are pretend concerts I wish I'd gone to. Over the last few decades, I've become more of a movie buff than a music fan. There are two great music-centric movies that I love. ALMOST FAMOUS and VELVET GOLDMINE. I really wish I had seen Stillwater perform. And I really wish I'd gone to the "Death of Glitter" concert. Neither thing is real but when I watch those movies, I really wish I was there. đŸ€
btw, Robert Plant is definitely a candidate for 'best use of hair' in rock performances.

If you haven't done it yet, you need to check out some Black Sabbath. They're in my top three rock bands, along with Floyd and Zeppelin.

A Marine Corps buddy of mine called me and said "I've got 4 tickets to see Zeppelin at Madison Square Garden and 2 chicks, can you get here." I told him I was on my way. I bought a ticket and flew to New York in 1973. That was a wild week.

In a supreme case of irony, the riff for Black Dog isn't Jimmy Page's. It was written by John Paul Jones.

When Jimmy Page was a session guitar player it was said he could duplicate anyone's style perfectly . All of Zeppelins albums are consistently epic . Pink Floyd cannot say the same thing . The difference between Zep and Floyd is like heroin and cocaine .
