Please block @FeligamiAdrizoeSworaBunnydoll, she had said something offensive to me about Thomas & Friends. She said I'm a problem for liking Thomas and called it possessed trains

Like I said, The hit era does have a lot of inconsistencies with the classic series. But for me it’s still the same cannon

For me, I think the HiT era doubles as both a continuation and a reboot because it essentially was in a way. Like you stated, there's the aforementioned character regression and inconsistencies from the previous seasons but there's still some continuity, or more or so established aspects from the classic seasons that carried over into the HiT era. Like you mentioned there's Henry's love for the forest and Edward banking trains, then there's also some other things like Thomas' dislike for his snowplow and while a major continuity error indeed, Henry needing special coal still counts in some regard. There's also the fact that the series still expects viewers to know who the characters are. I mean, yeah, Series 8 was produced and aired not long after Series 7, so it would be expected for people to recognize everyone, but you have episodes like You Can Do It Toby where they randomly name drop Donald and Douglas despite their only physical appearance that season getting cut. There's always gonna be the slight chance that that season was someone's possible introduction to the franchise, and then they watch that episode and have no idea who this Donald and Douglas are. I'm not too sure about that.
The writers have pretty much confirmed that everything in the series apart from Magic Railroad (even though Britt considers it canon) to be canon, however I wouldn't be surprised that if they were to ever remake any of the episodes from the HiT era; whether it be Henry needing special coal or Skarloey and Rheneas acting like children, they would change it to be more in line with how things were both before and after the HiT era.
Now even though I stated at the beginning that I consider the HiT era to double as both a reboot and a continuation, for where I stand on it being canon or not, I would say it's canon just because I follow a lot of things that the show states very closely. For example, I know a lot of people will say that the characters were built at the same time, like their Railway Series/IRL counterparts, but since the built dates for the characters are never stated in the TVS and they see characters like Bill and Ben being younger than Boco for example, I do believe that them in TVS are meant to be younger than him in built date and not just maturity wise like in the Railway Series. Of course, with the HiT era, I wouldn't account on everything being canon or at least going about the same way if all the seasons of the show are supposed to be canon. Like in one episode of Series 18, Rheneas references Rheneas and the Dinosaur, and at this point in time, Rheneas has been reverted to his older and morebmature persona from Series 4 and 5. So, while that episode is canon, there's the likely chance that it played it out differently as opposed to what was shown in the original episode. That may not make a whole lot of sense but then again with the TVS canonically existing as a TV show in the Railway Series and the RWS supposing to take place in the real world, inconsistencies like that that are present in the Television Series can actually make a little more sense with that in mind. And to be frank, Thomas isn't the only long-lasting show to have inconsistencies.

The Steam Team, is the biggest reason why I consider seasons 8-24 as their own canon. I mean Seasons 1-5 and even 6-7 didn’t have a core cast of characters, and Tidmouth Sheds was treated in a more realistic way, it was just a train shed, and literally any engine stayed there.

The CGI series continues from the model eras since all eras, model and CGI are in the same show thus canon continuity regardless of differences. References and flashbacks to classic episodes were made after all. You may be unsure but I hope you understand what I'm getting at all the same.

I like to think that Season 8 - 12 is a seperate Cannon It just feels too different from before despite with being filmed with models on set. They had to retcon so many things for the re-boot in 2004 to work like Henry being unfamiliar with Passenger trains in Wishing tree, Tidmouth Sheds being Solely for the Main cast instead of any engine, the engines moving by themselves without crews, Character downgrades, Missing secondary Character and the list goes on.
BTW thank you for doing this. I'm SavageGardenfan96.

Well, the engines do actually still have their crews. They do occasionally acknowledge them and we see the figures in their cabs. Although the engines do seem to do whatever they want and the crew are basically zombies. Lol. Percy’s Big Mistake is a good example of this. His driver never told him what the Fat Controller told him.

I don’t consider the HiT Era of Thomas & Friends canon since they don’t mention any of the events from the Classic Series.
I also don’t consider the Nitrogen/Miller Era or the BWBA Era canon due to the poor writing and cringey moments, especially the BWBA Era.

unfortunately this is unlikely because believe or not some of the hit era’s quality’s actually started off near the end of the classic era.
for example this is where some characters began to regress in particularly thomas, edward, percy, diesel, skalroey and rheneas.
some locations introduced at this time were brought into the hit era such as the scottish castle, the chocolate factory and the fishing village.
and finally the hit era actually does have a bit of continuity from the classic era such as thomas having his branch line even though he’s barley working on it, henry is still in his new shape even though he needs special coal again and it was acknowledged sir handel’s absents in the series since season four even though it wasn’t for an entire summer.
as much we don’t want to admit it the hit era and classic era are the same time line.

It’s not a complete reboot, but rather a dumbed down continuation of the classic series. Mind you the stock footage from the previous season had great usage in this season.

I see it as a very loose continuation mainly because there were a few episodes that slipped through the cracks while many others deserve to cease from existence altogether.

Well technically, it’s a soft reboot but the same exact canon (mostly). I think seasons 8-12 are okay for the most part, but seasons 13-16 were overall pretty bad in terms of writing and pacing. But to be fair, I’d take any bad episode of the original show (seasons 1-24) over the entire 2D reboot any day.

I can thought the same answers, Ginger. As a kid, I seen between the models between the 1980’s and 90’s, meanwhile in the 2000’s, since the HiT Transition, the story, the characteristics, the personality is completely different. When I remembered watched the episode called “Skarloey The Brave”, I’ve been thinking: “Oh silly Skarloey, fall down the winch, but he did save the day.” But now as a adult, this reactions is otherwise: *”Bro, this Skarloey episode is shitty, WHY ARE YOU CLIMBING UP THE WINCH, WHY THE FUCK IS HIT ENTERTAINMENT MADE HIM A CHILD, SCARED OF LIGHTING, FEAR OF A BRIDGE, BRUH WHY, HE SCREW UP THE WINCH AND SAID “WEEEE” LIKE HE’S A CHILD SLIDING DOWN THE SILDE! Oh wait, he decide to carry the trucks of coal, but still… THIS IS A AWFUL EPISODE EVER, WHY HIT, JUST KILLED THE SHOW!?”* And I considered this a Long time ago. Even I forget, but since you post this video, you made my day very interesting. To make matters worse, some of the episodes are deemed worst, making characters “out of character” like Edward depicted as being rudest to Rocky, calling him “ New Fangled Nonsense” this makes it look bad, it would be better if James sitck this not Edward. Idk if I remember any of the episodes. Every time Thomas gets appears, the camera and the story focus on him, instead of the rest. Sadly some of the characters didn’t get appearance. Stepney once appeared in the “Rosie’s Carnival Surprise” episode, but can you guess what’s wrong. OF COURSE IT IS. Stepney gets FUCKING WRECK BY A TRUCK LOAD OF PINK SUGAR. And yet, he just came back from Bluebell Railway. “Are you kidding me, HIT?” Why would Stepney deserves this, he came back for the first time. And yet he didn’t. Honestly. Between the Britt Allcroft Era and the HiT Era, doesn’t matched it up. It never the same boat. Why have I not think this mistake. Lots of mistakes, and HiT is one of them to add insult to injury and that’s mean to Thomas. And that’s why I thought of this. I remembered the time.🤔😒
Again, Ginger, Thank you, this video is brought me to this retrospective childhood, and my thoughts, and my opinions. I really haven’t seen at the moment. But now. I comment it. So I hope you keep this up. Again. *Thank you.* for your time. ❤️
