I tought Greydwarfs were just criminals or evil doers of all sorts from the civilization that existed in Valheim before even Odin cared about it as described in some lorestones, and when they died the process described in their own lorestone happens and as the time passed they got a bit more organized in order to survive and fend of the hostilities in the 10th realm

Obviously the grey dwarves are directly inspired by Grådvergar in Astrid Lindgren's Ronja Røverdatter.

Very interesting! Although I have some ideas to add to this lore:
The greydwarfs aren't dwarfs, the term is just used to described their hunchback appearance as they heads are somewhat lower than their shoulders.
As they said, they are born from the souls of sinners rotting underground. The structures around the black forest aren't made by them, well not directly. They are the remains of a past civilisation, like the draugr, that were burried in the underground tombs all around the black forest. That is why we can find some skeletons around these structures and tombs, warriors that fell in battle and came back as skeletons. That would also explain why the skeletons fight the greydwarfs: greydwarfs are empty husks of sinners. The skeleton, maybe just as soulless, only defend what remains of their home and place of rest.

Grey dwarfs, all kinds just become little more than a annoyance before to long. After killing 30 of the various ones while trying to build a house, they get on my nerves so much. Though the greylings at least are fun to just sheath tge weapons n just beat m kick the crap out of them.

Interesting Lore Video! What do you think of Svartalfr (actual Dwarves) as friendly NPCs in the game like the Trader? I would really like this as a contrast to the Greydwarves and it could be interesting to include more of Norse mythology.

Thats exactly my wish too. More friendly NPCs or just a friendly faction in general that we can trade with ect.
But you might mean Dvergr (Dwarves) because Svartalfr are dark elves.

    • @CountMuku

@@hydraxon6940 A friendly faction (maybe with their own biome) could be really cool. Dvergr means Dwarves, that's correct. But based on the Prose Edda scholars commented, that the Svartalfar could be another name for Dwarves, because of the similarities between the two. But I'm no expert on the matter and Norse Mythology can be convoluted. So just give us Dwarves :D

@@CountMuku I´m no expert neither, I just google the terms xD
But you and me are on the same Longboat...give us Dwarf NPCs, Iron Gate!
On the old Roadmap, they mentioned "Svartalfr Brigands" which could possibly be what we're looking for.
Since they didn't abandon the roadmap, and only changed the order in which they release stuff, we might really get our dwarves, mate!

@@hydraxon6940 Google ftw! Yeah, the thing with the "Svartalfr Brigands" sparked the hope in me, that Dwarves could be a thing in a future update. As long as Valheim will getting new updates, there is a chance! Btw if your are into Dwarves like me check out "Diggy Diggy Hole". Its great and a lot of fun. Especially because there are a lot of different versions of the song.

@@CountMuku I don't think they will stop making updates, they love Valheim and play their game themselves. They are slow, yes, but I prefer slow devs instead of a rushed game.

What about why are greylings rogue and don’t move in packs with grey dwarfs?

    • @hydraxon6940
      @hydraxon6940 Před 2 lety

Greylings are just Greydwarves that recently emerged from the ground, hence "lings". I suppose they grow up to become greydwarves and move into the Dark Forest eventually.

They do, in the event your base is raided by greydwarvwes, one of the spawn limits is for 3 greyling.
