I'd love to see Aubrey Plaza work with either Robert Eggers or Ari Aster in the future. I really did enjoy Emily The Criminal although I felt it really only scratched the surface and was a bit too formal or restrained. Doing another similar project but with The Safdie's could be great. Hail Satan. 😅
@@comment15 Europe is more educated than the U.S. and values language and conversation more. I said 'especially' French because they do it more than other countries like Sweden, which tends to be more pensive and existential. I wasn't suggesting one standard for the continent, schmuck.
Interesting. First watching it six, seven years ago, I wasn't crazy about Shame. I rewatched some of his movies last October - I actually really liked Shame much more on second watch.
What are you supposed to learn from her? She talks about how and why she likes his films. Is she supposed to teach you something about Ingmar Bergman’s filmmaking style? Is she a history of cinema podcast or video or article? No. Learn on your own or better yet watch some Ingmar Bergman films and come up with your own reasons for liking or disliking them.
@@MadwithPower556 wow, rough crowd. I didn’t know Aubrey was supposed to be some kind of film critic. Was she asked specifically if Bergman had a visual style? Without her divulging specific thoughts about Bergman‘s visual style, does that mean she failed as a fan of his films? Seems kind of unfair and a bit intolerant to me.
@@shikawgoh Of all the people to ask to comment on a Bergman film, why her? And even if she *is* a fan, why didn't she dig a little deeper? Why did she like the conversations that she mentioned? The least she could have done was pick a favorite example and explain it in more detail. E.g. "In this scene from 'Scenes from a Marriage', Liv Ullman's character is about to receive a shock..."
I loved Fanny and Alexander, but really it's title should be:
Alexander (and Fanny too, I guess)
I’m not even a big Bergman fan, but the 5-hour version of Fanny and Alexander is a masterpiece.
I Think it's sound better
Will Megalopolis be shown in theaters?
Of course
I love aubrey too
Now look up Sven Nykvist
Fanny and Alexander is probably one of my five favorite movies
One of the Best Films Ever Made
Allan edvall is always an amzing actor

European film especially French is really enamoured with depicting long, everyday conversation.
That's lame. You're being lame. Stop being lame.
Painting a 50 country continent with such a simplistic mindview just speaks as to who you are rather than you actually saying anything.

Stop with the Joe List.
You mean the "comedian" who thinks trashing a film with zero actiual opinions is smart criticism. Contrarian for the sake of controversy. I concur.

I learned nothing, Aubrey.
That’s her whole M.O. 😂

Aubrey is a cutie but she's not articulate and cannot explain what she likes about the film. Does she consider Bergman to have a visual style?
