Huell Howser/California gold episode on in-n-out is thE definitive documentary on in-n-out!!
Who knew the founders of In-N-Out were the pioneers behind the concept of the drive-through. It's a remarkable achievement that unfortunately was not patented.
Families where 4 generations enjoyed their burgers knew. Sadly, probably can't patent a drive thru window, or roller skate delivery of burgers or ... but they remain oh, so good!😋😋😋
Don't believe you can patent a process in the method of sales. Might be wrong. They pioneered it and continue to be the pinnacle of service in time taken in line for order taken till time served.
@@timotheegoulet1511 Harry Snyder is not credited with the invention of the drive-through restaurant; rather, his innovation lies in the creation of the two-way speaker system which he could in fact have patented.
In 1921, Kirby's Pig Stand introduced the drive-in restaurant, in which carhops delivered meals. In 1931, a California Pig Stand franchise introduced a drive-through service that bypassed the carhops. The first identified drive through restaurant was established in 1947 at Red's Giant Hamburg located in Springfield, Missouri. *A year later in 1948, Harry and Esther Snyder of the In-N-Out Burger chain built a drive-through restaurant, featuring a two-way speaker system that Harry Snyder invented himself earlier that year.* By the 1970s, drive-through service had replaced drive-in restaurants in the United States. not like it matters now. patent only last 20 years :)
I'm thankful that there's one in walking distance from me and another one that I can actually bike ride there in less than an hour depending on the route.🍔🍟🤤
In and Out Burger is Outstanding, and I'm not a huge fast food guy.
I'm not a huge but more fit guy who occasionally eats fast food, but I agree that in n out is one of the best! 👍
Here we are in Boise, Idaho and people are waiting hours in line to eat one of their hamburgers.
This was Anthony Bourdain's favorite burger. To hear him describe it is just wonderful.
Same with Gordon Ramsey
I use to go to the drive thru in the early sixties. Memorable and delicious!😮
Best cheese burgers ever. Love in N out burger. 👍🏽🤤
The only reasonable time for me to grab in&out is when they open 11AM and the drive thru is 5 cars deep or less. Other than that It's crazy waiting times for a burger.
I always inside and get it to go unless I am there right when they open. The drive-thru is nuts.
Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
Great video
Thank you 🙏🏾
I had a friend that worked for the company as their travel coordinator, mostly for the family but corporate, too. He was sworn to secrecy. Glad he got a job doing his line of work as it was right when people really didn't need travel agents because of the internet allowing people to make their own travel arrangements.
What's not to like at in-n-out? Friendly service, clean building, great tasting food, and reasonable prices. I like to eat on the patio, and an employee will always ask if everything is ok. Carl's Jr was pretty good until Carl died. Quality went down, prices went up. In-n-out is as good as ever!
Mustard instead of the spread. Add pickles and grill the onions. It’s a Chronis’ burger from In n Out
It's so funny how there corporate headquarters or main office is located in Colorado but was started in Cali and I think they finally opened there first IN N OUT restaurant in Colorado a couple of years ago.
Their main office is in Irvine, CA. The Colorado offices are regional offices.
People in Portland Oregon are so messed up that they think Burgerville is a whole lot better than In-n-Out.
these things happen
I’m in Portland and burgerville isn’t even close, plus, it’s almost twice as expensive. The closes in n out is a 45 minute drive if there’s no traffic. I always go if I’m down that way.
You never eat alone at In N Out.
I’ve eaten alone at in n out lol… would go there on lunch break
@@tristangruener9571 You ever notice the Bible verses on the wrappers, cups and trays? If so, that’s what I mean by it.
…but I get what you mean too. 😂 My old job used to share a parking lot with an In N Out. I was lucky enough to not have to wait in long lines. The crew hooked it up.
When I revisit California this is the first place I'm going to revisit.
❤❤❤
Back when ingenuity and hard work was what Americans appreciated.
OK boomer 😂
Now im hungry! :-)
IT'S #1
In my city on a regular day drive-thru takes 1 hour. On a Friday night it takes 3 hours NO CAP! There’s literally 3 long lines of cars for drive-thru. WTF In-n-out OPEN MORE RESTAURANTS in Arizona!!!! Don’t just have 3 for every state 😭💀
Now I want to eat a burger. KCET's fault.
4x4 animal style add chilis 🤤🫠

In-n-Out is owned by the Snyder family, but it belongs to all Southern Californians.
First !
Would love to go more but the lines are too long and the always reminds me of a high school cafeteria. Noisy and people loitering around. That atmosphere is not conducive for a good meal experience.
Route 66 doesn’t even go through Baldwin Park how is the 1st sentence you say already a lie
Personally, I like Culver's but they aren't in California.
No patent - wow.
Did he say conservative, radical lol? only referring to fast food? Even as a Westerner he truly doesn't believe that?
On God this place mid af and the fries barely cooked fam. The burgers are dank and that's no cap. When I go back to Cali I wanna get a 3x3 with chopped chilis and grilled onions and my fries cooked extra for that crispyness perfection.
If you ask for the fries "well done" they will make them crispy. I love In-N-Out Burger but the fries are trash when they aren't well done.
@@StewartLucrative the fries are already over cooked, what are you two dorks talking about? That's why people complain about them being dry and a bit hard like a chip, since they are over cooked.........
@@MiguelGarcia-vj7oo I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. I have literally never heard anyone ever say their fries are too hard or overcooked. They always say the exact opposite. You must be thinking of a different restaurant, or you went there one time and they were overcooked.
Interesting, that Carl's Jr had a connection to in and out. both are run with Christian influence. and that when In and out had a e.coli outbreak, both had paid attention to the source of their beef to improve their quality, and Carl's jr told In and out what they did to make sure it doesn't show up in their meat. and Paris Hilton advertise for Carl's jr, but loves in and out.
that said, it is horrible how a democrat congressman try to start a boycott to demand In and Out to donate more money to Democrats, even though In and out Donates more to Democrats than Republicans.
oh, and my parents only eat In and out, and Habit.
I find that hard to believe, the giving more to Dems. Not saying it's not true. The owner is a born again Christian.
@@michaelarmenta8289 There's a Snopes story about it from 2018. Because they pay more than minimum wage, they support "a political action committee that supports business-friendly Democratic candidates."
@@Spodie001 Nopes for Snopes homie. That is not a reliable news source.
@@michaelarmenta8289 It's not a news source "homie". It's a fact-checking service.
@@michaelarmenta8289just because you don’t like what they have to say doesn’t make them wrong.
Google "In-N-Out burger found in New York" - quite a fascinating story.
Sooo overrated. Don't wait in line. Go to Bakers, add pickles, mustard, grilled onions.
