They can. But it’s hard for them apparently.
Because twits don't want to think. To get green lit, the studio has to think people will pay to see it, big budget re treads of tired old material gets a shot before thought provoking film BECAUSE American audiences show they don't WANT to think. I have always preferred foreign films. When is the last time you went to a film festival? Or actually read a book? When you let the bottom rung make all the decisions you get these mindless blow them up spectacles. Not that action films and escapism is bad. I do love a good Michael Bay style boom fest. But candy can't be all that's on your intellectual plate.

It's actually sad the antman 2 and Shazam 2 were huge letdowns this year, and by the looks of it the mario movie is going to be a blast but I never judge a book by its cover so I'm crossing my fingers it'll be a masterpiece.

@@gerarduspoppel2831 A friend of mine had the first few issues in early 1985 (series started in 84), but I remember her being white. the writers wife may have been black, and April may have been based on her, but April was white in the earliest comics. Master Splinter has changed a lot, but surprisingly the TMNT are almost identical now to what they looked like in 85.
