There has been no Randle rumors, because the Knicks aren’t considering trading him at this time… duh. As for the extension, he can’t sign until August 3, so y would we talk about whether or not a guy is gonna sign an extension a month in advance.
It is all that's being talked about out West, with Markkanen, who is extension eligible around the same time, so not crazy to think the Knicks might do the same.

If Julius is in a good place mentally and he’s motivated, he’ll go crazy next year. But it’s when things aren’t going well, most notably when his shots aren’t falling, is when we see the worst of him. The lack of defensive effort, complaining at the refs instead of getting back on defense, the turning into a black hole offensively instead of being the great passer he’s very capable of being. The negative body language and attitude was borderline toxic at times pre OG trade. But when he has his mind right, he’s one of the best 15-20 guys in basketball no question
Anyone saying to trade Randle isn't actually thinking about what that would involve. A) You need to get a player back on a $30 million contract that fills the hole he would leave. B) That player needs to be on a team that would somehow benefit from having Randle while also wanting to make that trade. C) Whoever you get back probably won't be as good as Randle. It makes absolutely no sense if you think about it for five seconds.
You know you could trade for multiple players that equal that salary it makes more sense. They need more people that are fine without the ball. They need a center. Draft picks would also be helpful. People blame him for that Atlanta series but apart from D Rose, no one turned up. Guys who were knocking down shots in the regular season started bricking, and they began forcing double and triple teams to Randle. Nearly every star in this league would struggle with that.

That month where Randle and OG were both on the court together, the team was looking great. No one seems to point out that both teams that made the finals last season had 2 guys who could create for themselves at an elite level. Randle is that 2nd scorer for the Knicks. The nights when JB is a little off or a team is selling out to stop him, Randle will be the guy that takes pressure off him. Everyone else on the roster needs JB to be elite to be at their best offensively, Ju is the only one that doesn't.

If I’m the Knicks I try to see if I can make a good fit happen because all that talent is enticing, and if not like you said trade him for something. Even if it’s just a backup center.

Julius was here before Coach Tibbs he was our first Building Block and signed a discount extension before Bronson did. 3x All Star 2x All NBA he has lived up to both contracts and DESERVES a two or three year extension.
I feel like people forget that Julius was a part of that run they went on back in January after getting OG. It pretty much ended when he hurt his shoulder in that Miami game, but he was a big part of that. It's not like they drastically improved once Julius went down
Randle buying in for 2025/26 could be a good move. Knicks would have a decent ‘Core 7’ the next two seasons (Anunoby, Randle, Brunson, Bridges, Hart, Robinson and DiVincenzo) and they’ll still have (for now) cap space plus 1st and 2nd apron space.
When it comes to a Randle trade for KAT. KAT played too well this past year for the Timberwolves to want to move on from him. Plus with the new CBA KAT is arguably a value contract now in the NBA. My biggest concern with the Knicks is that they now have too many mouths to feed on offense. Their starting 5 is gunna be something like Brunson, Mikal, OG, Randle, Robinson or something of the sort. I think Brunson will take a step back scoring wise but will see in increase in assist numbers. Brunson could be a 20/12 guy all day with the Knicks roster as it's currently constructed. But The Knicks are going to see how their team plays together first before they think about moving anyone on that team not just Randle. Should be interesting to watch.
I'm failing to understand where folks are coming from saying Randle is gonna get traded, Randle's role doesn't change because Brunson has taken over of sorts. There aren't many if any players who the KNicks would get back equal or greater value
I don't get why the Knicks wouldn't want Randle at this point. He can be a reliable #2 or #3 scorer, and add some muscle, rebounding, and toughness. Meanwhile, Bridges and OG can spread the floor and help make up for some of Randle's defensive lapses. And, if/when Mitchell gets hurt, Randle can be invaluable size as well.
It's this constant mistake people make in the NBA where they go "We have this need, that guy does that stuff, therefore that guy's fine and we're fine." I can hammer a nail. That doesn't make me qualified to build a house. We've seen Randle in the playoffs. Just because the guy RESEMBLES a playmaking star sometimes does not mean you can rely on the guy when it matters. All the evidence suggests the opposite.

His playstyle isn’t my preference, but his game will blend well w/ a full offseason of Mikal + OG healthy. Randle can be a small ball 5 if needed, but I would more surprised if the Knicks move Randle before moving one of their picks + Precious for a rotation big. If he’s healthy, wouldn’t be shocked if he has another All-NBA szn alongside Brunson

Randle demands a lot of attention from opposing defenses. 23/10/5 PF's (his average stats over the last 4 years) do not grow on trees. So his skillset helps out Brunson and the wings a lot. I also havent seen any signs of NY not planning to keep Randle. Does that mean he wont be traded? No... Everything can happen. But the plan is clearly to go forward with a 1-2 punch of Brunson/Randle and a plathera of good wings who can shoot/score/defend (Bridges/OG/DiVincenzo/Hart). And you forget that Randle becomes extension eligible again during the season. Means they can go into the season like this and can extend him later. Or if he really does not want to sign a fair extension, they can trade him at the deadline. This entire video was pointless.
With the injury history of OG you can’t trade Randle. In fact the lineup of Brunson/Hart/ Bridges /Randle/backup center will be the most played lineup.
Following the OG trade the Knicks were really good before Randle got injured, so they will give this group a chance to do something. Brunson taking a pay cut in his extension gives them flexibility in future trades. It's hard to get the production Randle gives, at his current salary, for a player to be the second option behind Brunson. KAT is not a huge upgrade over Randle. The Knicks' target would likely be Giannis if things don't work out in Milwaukee. Yeah, that may be a pipe dream but stranger things have happened before.

If Julius is in a good place mentally and he’s motivated, he’ll go crazy next year. But it’s when things aren’t going well, most notably when his shots aren’t falling, is when we see the worst of him. The lack of defensive effort, complaining at the refs instead of getting back on defense, the turning into a black hole offensively instead of being the great passer he’s very capable of being. The negative body language and attitude was borderline toxic at times pre OG trade. But when he has his mind right, he’s one of the best 15-20 guys in basketball no question

Anyone saying to trade Randle isn't actually thinking about what that would involve. A) You need to get a player back on a $30 million contract that fills the hole he would leave. B) That player needs to be on a team that would somehow benefit from having Randle while also wanting to make that trade. C) Whoever you get back probably won't be as good as Randle.

People blame him for that Atlanta series but apart from D Rose, no one turned up. Guys who were knocking down shots in the regular season started bricking, and they began forcing double and triple teams to Randle. Nearly every star in this league would struggle with that.

That month where Randle and OG were both on the court together, the team was looking great. No one seems to point out that both teams that made the finals last season had 2 guys who could create for themselves at an elite level. Randle is that 2nd scorer for the Knicks. The nights when JB is a little off or a team is selling out to stop him, Randle will be the guy that takes pressure off him. Everyone else on the roster needs JB to be elite to be at their best offensively, Ju is the only one that doesn't.

I had somewhat forgotten about Julius Randle, the Knicks did so well in the second half of the season without him it felt like they didn’t need him. If I’m the Knicks I try to see if I can make a good fit happen because all that talent is enticing, and if not like you said trade him for something. Even if it’s just a backup center.

Julius was here before Coach Tibbs he was our first Building Block and signed a discount extension before Bronson did. 3x All Star 2x All NBA he has lived up to both contracts and DESERVES a two or three year extension.
I feel like people forget that Julius was a part of that run they went on back in January after getting OG. It pretty much ended when he hurt his shoulder in that Miami game, but he was a big part of that. It's not like they drastically improved once Julius went down
Randle buying in for 2025/26 could be a good move. Knicks would have a decent ‘Core 7’ the next two seasons (Anunoby, Randle, Brunson, Bridges, Hart, Robinson and DiVincenzo) and they’ll still have (for now) cap space plus 1st and 2nd apron space.

When it comes to a Randle trade for KAT. KAT played too well this past year for the Timberwolves to want to move on from him. Plus with the new CBA KAT is arguably a value contract now in the NBA.
My biggest concern with the Knicks is that they now have too many mouths to feed on offense. Their starting 5 is gunna be something like Brunson, Mikal, OG, Randle, Robinson or something of the sort. I think Brunson will take a step back scoring wise but will see in increase in assist numbers. Brunson could be a 20/12 guy all day with the Knicks roster as it's currently constructed. But The Knicks are going to see how their team plays together first before they think about moving anyone on that team not just Randle. Should be interesting to watch.

I don't get why the Knicks wouldn't want Randle at this point. He can be a reliable #2 or #3 scorer, and add some muscle, rebounding, and toughness. Meanwhile, Bridges and OG can spread the floor and help make up for some of Randle's defensive lapses. And, if/when Mitchell gets hurt, Randle can be invaluable size as well.
It's this constant mistake people make in the NBA where they go "We have this need, that guy does that stuff, therefore that guy's fine and we're fine."

I think Randle’s spot on this team is secured for one more season unless things get messy and this Knicks team is .500 near the deadline. His playstyle isn’t my preference, but his game will blend well w/ a full offseason of Mikal + OG healthy. Randle can be a small ball 5 if needed, but I would more surprised if the Knicks move Randle before moving one of their picks + Precious for a rotation big. If he’s healthy, wouldn’t be shocked if he has another All-NBA szn alongside Brunson

One good offensive option is not enough! It never was. Randle demands a lot of attention from opposing defenses. 23/10/5 PF's (his average stats over the last 4 years) do not grow on trees. So his skillset helps out Brunson and the wings a lot. I also havent seen any signs of NY not planning to keep Randle. Does that mean he wont be traded? No... Everything can happen. But the plan is clearly to go forward with a 1-2 punch of Brunson/Randle and a plathera of good wings who can shoot/score/defend (Bridges/OG/DiVincenzo/Hart).
And you forget that Randle becomes extension eligible again during the season. Means they can go into the season like this and can extend him later. Or if he really does not want to sign a fair extension, they can trade him at the deadline. This entire video was pointless.

Following the OG trade the Knicks were really good before Randle got injured, so they will give this group a chance to do something. Brunson taking a pay cut in his extension gives them flexibility in future trades. It's hard to get the production Randle gives, at his current salary, for a player to be the second option behind Brunson. KAT is not a huge upgrade over Randle. The Knicks' target would likely be Giannis if things don't work out in Milwaukee. Yeah, that may be a pipe dream but stranger things have happened before.

It's one thing to have the type of regular season success that Julius Randle does, and its another thing to be so bad when the games actually matter. People are not forgetting about Julius Randle, but the issue is, everyone is forgetting about how terrible he has been in the playoffs. There is a world where Julius Randle goes into the first playoff series with this team this season and averages like 20/10/5 on 45/38/80 splits, but i don't know who would actually be betting on him to do that. And it has been reported the Knicks most likely are looking to trade Randle for an upgrade and I totally understand it, because you can't be great in the regular season and do absolutely nothing in the playoffs, even while dealing with some injuries
