Great reaction! Since you asked, he's 33, it was his bday when he released Illest of Our Time at the end of March.
I’ve heard him use the phrase “it is what it is” multiple times. I can attest that the older you are, the more you learn to rest in that truth re: things in the past or that simply can’t be changed. I believe that is a little bit of what Ren meant when he said in Hi Ren he learned to relax and the dance got easier.
Just discovered your Ren reactions and watched them all - think this is my fav as it slowly made you smile more all the way through :)
You need to check out his stuff with his band The Big Push - the I shot the sheriff mashup (do the sunny one, not the evening one) is a good start.
To have a really nice fun song again (although meaningful) - Humble with Eden Nash.
To really appreciate his singing - Chalk Outlines and/or How to be me (both live with Chinchilla - and be prepared to go on a tangent with Chinchilla!)
Oh how did I forget - just to hear him really show off his rap skills - The Hunger…not a lot of really deep meaning (some clever and tricky lines but mostly its a ‘Frankenstein’s monster’ of different flows).
If you like his throwbacks, check out his song “1990s” … it’s so much fun!
Also, the guy driving is his film buddy Samuel Perry-Falvey, who filmed “Hi Ren,” “Chalk Outlines,” “Tale of Jenny & Screech” and others.

Great reaction. In a few tracks he sets dark topics to major-chord up beat melodies (like the refrain in Chalk Outlines, sounds like a conclusion to his situation sonically, but the lyrics are about sinking further). This one tho isn't just a dark theme to light tune, it's about redemption and sanctuary through music, which given his gift makes a lot of sense
Another great reaction! The more I listen to each Ren track, the more it grows on me. Power has become one of my favorites by him.

I would suggest listening to Money Game pt 1 and 2 back to back - part 1 has its own impact and it works best as an intro to the riff in pt 2.

One of the things I love about ren is how he puts catchy upbeat beats to heavy topics. It helps cause most people don't want to talk about heavy hitting taboo topics. By putting that upbeat sound you get people to listen. 😊
