- I came across Russ Gifford's website while trying to understand the Advanced Squad Leader line of sight rules. I struggled quite a bit to get his Shockwave-based videos to play on my Mac, and realized that as Shockwave support wanes they could be lost to history. I offered to convert them and host them on my channel in this dedicated playlist and he kindly agreed. Please visit his website to offer some kind words if you find his training useful - I sure did!

Yes, Russ, please do a RtPh session!
I really don't like the halving of firepower rule of advance fire phase. If I got a squad on the attack being told by a sergeant to fire in a particular area they are going to unload with everything they have if they see an enemy unit or not. The notion that their FP must be magically halved for a target in an open hex within normal range on an open terrain target is ludicrous especially for semi-auto squads like Americans. The same criticism with the smoke placement attempts. There is no historical accuracy in the notion that smoke grenades would only ignite in a 1 in 6 chance, if they were that unreliable (they weren't) the equipment would be replaced and the manufacturer court martialed. Also why no advantage in FP or range for German potato mashers?
you're an idiot
I've quickly scanned each of the sessions I can find and haven't found information about Route Phase mechanics other than a brief introduction. Is there a session that goes into this phase in some detail?
I think it's still on the future plans list. See: www.russgifford.net/asl_training_sessions__future.htm
@@fsmoura There is a discussion of the rout phase on
"J and D Hobbies" CZcams section about the rout phase in their tutorial on the ASL Rulebook.
