word of advice, do not sponsor these guys
@@Dnbray They pay really well. I can't fault content creators for taking the paycheck.
Not sure if this is your first sponsorship but if it is, congrats! Hope you can keep the momentum you build with the HP series going!
Did you include the SNES versions?
i never got to play the LOTR fellowship on console, my childhood was the two towers and return of the king on gamecube, me and mom would play ROTK and my friend would play with me, good memories
A Nazgul on a fellbeast actually did attack the Fellowship while they were on the river in the book, Legolas saw it off right away though with his snazzy new bow.
I remember as a kid thinking that the fellowship of the ring on GBA being absolutely cursed, and I'm glad this video confirms that! Two Towers and Return of the King on GBA are some of the best games for the platform, while fellowship is some cursed hell hole of fetch quests and being stuck in a forest doing stuff for tom bombadil
It's giving me flashbacks
Lmfao same here! My 7 year old tried it recently too and he agrees
I remember liking that this game had stuff from the books, but yeah, it isn't nearly as good as the GBA games of the second and third films, which I actually think are better than the console versions.
When I was a kid I borrowed the cartridge from a friend so I could play it on my DS. Ended up running into an item glitch that let me duplicate the shards of Narcil so that every member in my party could carry it as a weapon! Then I got stuck in the mines of Moria and couldn't get out. Still weirdly fun for someone with who hadn't played many RPGs at that point.
I CAN REMEMBER THIS
The Nazgûl ending in the PS2 game is actually fairly faithful to the book, Legolas does shoot one down while they’re sailing to Amon Hen.
Omg this madman covered every single HP game and now he's moved onto LOTR! I feel like you are reading my mind sometimes. 😂 Was literally looking up Fellowship GBA gameplay vids for nostalgia the other day!
At least it's only three games this time, spinoffs notwithstanding. I'm looking forward to his Two Towers and Return of the King vids now, as I actually still have the GBA versions of those.
HP?
@@LazyBuddyBan Harry Potter
Playing the GBA version of Fellowship was one of the most mind-numbing experiences I ever had as a kid. Thank you for resurrecting those memories.
for real. it really wasnt that bad
I KNEW IT! The Xbox and PS2 are different, I swear back in the day my cousin and I were so confused because all websites mentioned some guy summoning something but it WASN’T in the game.
I made it to the end of the Gameboy version once or twice. The combat was absurdly frustrating, but I did it. It ends with a five or six minute Amon Hen segment where Frodo splits off from the fellowship, and it ends on a random hilltop where Boromir tries to take the ring and Frodo concludes that he has to go it alone.
I remember it being practically impossible to hit anything in the bit where Frodo goes off on his own. There's a couple fights where I just mashed A without looking at the screen because there was nothing else to do.
Flandrew heard what the people wanted and thus he did give it to us! A worthy followup to Every Version of Harry Potter, yes!
SMH, where is LEGO lord of the rings? Unsubscribing, jokes aside, this was an amazing video as always, keep up the great work!
Seriously through, WHERE IS LEGO LORD OF THE RINGS? Not on this channel I mean, but in general. Why the Hell (Why the Angband?) is it not backwards-compatible yet?
@@arbington Maybe because there were multiple versions of Lego LOTR?
@@arbingtonit is bc
I would say that the biggest difference between the animals of the Xbox version and the PS2 version is that the sheep seem to have become alpacas.
All the funnier considering how the Tolkien estate specifically forced WXP to replace tomatoes with berries in the game since they had it stuck in their heads that the old man himself had come back to revise some of The Hobbit decades afterwards and actually replaced potatoes with pickles so it was widely assumed (but never confirmed by J.R.R.) that he didn't want any New World stuff in his medieval Europesque Middle Earth.
Yeah.
@@yarpen26 Which is a frankly absurd notion since coffee and tobacco feature far more prominently in Tolkien's works.
All I can say is that I really want a package of games on Steam with all the LotR games included
The most underrated aspect of the Fellowship of the Ring game is its soundtrack. It really is excellent.
Nostalgic. I was like 5.
A logical follow up to the Harry Potter series
I loved it, PC version, one of my favorite games. I was 9 and hardly knew a word of English, had no idea what I was supposed to do, so I spent over a month just wandering aimlessly around Shire. And that was days after I realized you could exit Bag End, stumbling upon the door by accident. It was until a friend from school (who had an older brother) told me you were supposed to find Lobelia and press Enter to talk with her that I finally proceeded, but I didn't mind at all collecting mushrooms around Shire. And the soundtrack alone was beautiful, main menu especially.
All my memory of the GBA ring consists of finding various hobbit tobacco leaves - I distinctly remember having Longbottom Leaf? Presumably that means I never left the shire.
I'm probably biased, since I only played the PS2 version, but you spend a lot of time stumbling around the Shire and I'm totally here for that - it's such a beautiful location
After all the harry potter games was not sure where we would go and seeing this im so ready for this !!! Thank you
I actually really enjoyed the fellowship of the Rings game because it was based on the book and that made it unique. I never played the PS2 version because I had an Xbox when I was a kid and didn't get the PS2 till much later, but it does look interesting.
This was an endlessly entertaining and awesome video!! I've watched all your comparison videos so far, and this one is especially hilarious, nostalgic, and well-made like all the others. Thanks so much for putting in so much effort and making these, they are fantastic.
There was a Nazgûl at the end of fellowship. And Legolas may even have shot an arrow at it if I remember correctly. Legolas was involved in scouting it at the very least.
I could never get past the Nazgûl in the pc version. So glad your doing these games, I have a special place in my heart for all of them.
Hoping to see you take on all the games like 1988 war in middle earth and war in the north ect
Love these vids, so much work goes into them, keep it up!!!
Loved the Lord of the Rings games. I played the OG Xbox version. That was fun. GBA was interesting and challenging.
Glad to see a comparaison of a franchise i just started to watch for the first time in my life, i just finished the 3 hobbits and the 2 first lotr movies, and now i know what i missed🤣🤣, it is so good
Looking forward to"the two towers" and "return of the king" on GBA. I played both GBA games religiously in elementary school. They even learned me English before i even received English classes at school. Will you be covering "The third age" games as well?
The gba version of RotK is actually pretty decent
@@pablofmc ROTK GBA is amazing. A lot of different campaigns, 6 playable characters with each an impressive skill tree to level up.
Is Return of the King on GBA the tactical rpg one?
@@thedugal1373 No that's the Third Age! Also a very underrated GBA gem
That black rider scene freaked me out as well when I was a kid. I think I put down the game for ages cause I couldn’t get passed that bit. Eventually I did beat it though and got to the mines of Moria where I saved on top of a cliff and got knocked off by one of the fellowship so every time I reloaded my save they would kill me and I was softlocked 😭 I had to start the game over from the beginning.
Congrats on getting sponsored! And 50.4k subscribers!
I love these comparison videos, quickly earned my sub, keep em coming:) ❤️
I enjoyed the Fellow Ship of the Ring game on PC, it was awesome to play in the Shire and also in Bree, the rest of the games should've included some chill gameplay in those beautiful places of Middle Eearth
Another banger Flandrew, keep it up. Funny and informative. Great content.
Didnt even know most of these games existed! Great video as always keep it up!
The Xbox Original version of Fellowship also had a lot of secret areas accessible by the Ring, it also looked better. Honestly if the A.I were helpful and the game had better combat it would've been excellent.
Wasn’t expecting it but great video as always
Omg I had no idea there was a Lord of the rings game based off the book, released near to movie adaption. I've never seen that...it looked so painful, especially with the singing part.
As always you made a hilarious comparison video! 😂
All bosses:
Felowship of the ring:
8:25 old man willow
9:04 barrow wight
10:17 nazguls
10:49 watcher of the water
11:18 balrog
11:49 nazgul(final boss)
Two towers:
14:12 nazguls
14:31 watcher of the water
14:58 troll
15:26 lurtz(final boss)
I remember the gba rpg, getting through most of Moria and the game crashing. Years later I heard if you save as soon as the room transitions you can keep playing. I did that and played a bit more but never finished the game
Love your comparing series.
Thanks
at 8:11 you could have used that parte where Merry and Pippin are rushing to the Black Gate while the others are standing back.
Either way, great Video!
The only memory I have of this game is a demo on a CD bundle for PC. My actual reason behind this comment is appreciation. Your videos are so awesome! I like the presentation, and the way you talk about games. And your cartoon avatar is just adorable!
Hope you'll take off and get much more viewers than this, because man, you deserve it!
I remember being utterly terrified by the ringwraiths in the Xbox game as a child lol
I was hoping you'd cover the LOTR games, especially this one. Another game that had multiple versions (well, two versions) was LOTR The Third Age which had a completely different GBA game from the console counterparts.
My body is ready for this!
Done HP, now we're onto LOTR. Excellent series mate!
Loved this video. I absolutely lost it at the “You are Frodo.” part 😂
holy hell !! called it !!!
I had a feeling your going to do lord of rings nxt !! more power to ya man
Dune and Dune II are both takes on the original book and came out the same year created by separate development teams. That might be a fun video
Love these comparison series
These are both informative and give me an urge to play these, but are also funny to watch
Love your videos
I have never played any of these games but it's fun watching your videos about different versions of games. This one made me laugh a lot and I enjoyed watching it despite not knowing much about LOTR itself.
I’ve been asking for this video for weeks and he actually did it! You are the best
Really great video man 👏 I've still got all the lord of the rings games on PS2. I enjoyed all of them. Can't wait for your next video 👍 This series is going to be awesome 🤘 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Just entered the bathroom and saw the notification as I sat down... What a treat
Thank you for letting us know
My mans finally made it. He's got a Raid Shadow Legends plug. I'm so proud of my boi.
Looking forward to the Two Towers video! Played that game so many times. Couldn't afford a memory card or that game at the time. Rented it a heap and had to play start to finish since i couldn't save progress. 20 years later still playing it (but able to save) crt tv and all. One of my all time favourite games. EA licensed games used to be so good.
You are insane my guy
So many games in such few time
The edit of Glorfindel "Jamie Lannister" made me laugh uproariously.
Wow, I never thought there would be so many differences between the PS2 and Xbox versions. Thanks for pointing them out, even the smallest differences!
You know you have made it on CZcams, when Raid Shadow Legends sponsors a video. Well deserved, your videos are well done!
The gameboy game was one of the first games I ever played! I was 5 years old and beating that game ever and over. I remember managing health items was a pain as there is a finite amount of items in the world. The game ended at the final battle of the film, but most versions are corrupted to just randomly cut out after Moria.
Oh yeah! Let's go Flandrew!
Congrats on the sponsor!! Get that bag 💸💸
I love your videos so much, man, the WORK that goes into playing all of these games and comparing them while also being knowledgeable on the source material is worthy of an applause.
As regards to the games, i emulated the snes version when i discovered emulators back in 2002 and i barely did anything, let alone leave the shire.
I prefer the ps2 version of FotR, but the best games in the franchise are hands down two towers and RotK made by EA. Fun games with good gameplay and graphics that also are great on co-op.
Cannot wait for the next installments.
Also, im going thru all your videos. You're up there with SnesDrunk as my favorite youtubers
I remember making one or two comments about making Lord of the Rings game videos. Thanks!!

Top notch content as always
Chad Gandalf is like the opposite counterpart to PS1 Hagrid
Also, 8:39 i see Tom Bombadil learned to do Dr. Livesey's chad walk
Gandalf looking like Lord Raiden
Yes! PS2 FotR was my childhood. Spend hours just running around the Shire and trying to see how many arrows I can shoot into Frodo's head before they started despawning.
Currently in Northern Ireland and enjoying my time. Thanks for posting this!
6:35 i can tell just from hearing her, that's kath soucie doing the voice because she sounds just like lil deville
Awesome! love to see LotR-Content on your Channel!!
I actually had the ps2 version but couldn't get past the riders in hobbington and gave up, glad to see there was more to the game
the dark rider fail cutscene scared the living shit out of me as a kid too, i remember playing with the tv remote on my lap ready to turn down the volume and cover my eyes.
Took me a while to get through that part seeing as English wasn't my first language, and also I didn't know you could throw rocks.
When i finally figured it out I felt like a genius.
I remember fast forwarding back and forward during the dark rider scene in the movie to see if i could find some clues.
Ah i was such a dumb kid.
Can't wait to se 20 more videos like this from all the LOTR games! You are awesome! I discover this channel when you release the first Harry Potter video! Great channel! o/ Big fan from Brazil!
17:54 Ah yes, bog shoes. For a race of people who's feet are so tough they can literally walk on sharp rocks. Peak lore accuracy.
Glad to see the Lord of The Rings series being next. Third Age was my absolute favorite
I love your content so much
New series let's go!!
Nearly died when you said Aragorn looks like Ron Jeremy! Priceless! 😂😂😂
Really enjoyed this video! I know the GBA game was heavily flawed but I was genuinely enchanted by it as a kid. It may have been my first turn based rpg!
But I did not beat it exactly! I literally got to Lothlorien and accidentally saved over my game with a new game save. I did not bother to play through again because Moria was too infuriating. 😂
The next 2 GBA games were so good though!
Looking back at it now, it does have huge flaws, but i spent hours on it as a kid. My big bro was playing two towers on ps2 and i couldn't (supposedly too violent for my mom's taste) so i enjoyed what i had. I remember playing all the way to the end in amon hen but got blocked by a stupidly hard uruk fight. But yeah nice memories, i liked the fact that the game had elements not seen in the movie.
The cuts between FOTR and The Two Towers had me rolling.
16:38 If no one knows about the term 'Elevenses', it is a mid-morning breakfast tradition from the UK. This is referenced in the Fellowship of The Ring film when one of the Hobbits, Pippin, asks Araggorn about second breakfast when the group are told to stop at nightfall.
I got to the Mines of Moria in the GBA game as a kid and had to give up there. I remember that I needed to collect a bunch of runes for some reason and decided that that was enough for me
That voice cast on the book-based Xbox/PS2/PC game is so nostalgic. Grey DeLisle (Daphne, Azula, etc.) and Kath Soucie (Phil/Lil from Rugrats) as hobbits, Diedrich Bader (Hoss Delgado, Rex from Napoleon Dynamite) as Aragorn.
I’m so ready for the two towers and return of the king game discussion those were my jam!!!
I love this format!
god yes
i take back the tear i shed when the harry potter vids ended
You are on your peak. Your videos are better than yesterday and worse than tomorrow :)
6:36 omg that voice! Im pretty sure that was also Lily from Armed and Dangerous!
Had no idea how badly I needed Tom Beminem in my life until now.
Finally someone did a comparison on these games. I love it.
I LOVE the fog in the PS2 version.
I actually saw an article on the GBA port today, such a weird coincidence.
Yes! Thank you!
I actually did beat the GBA game, after it glitches at the Balrog portion 4 times. It's a painful game to play through. EAs Two Towers and Return of the King are my childhood favorite games. I had so much fun playing them.
I remember having to install Windows XP to play Fellowship of the ring, which was a no in my house, and on top of that, I never got past the Ringwraith with Frodo. I just thought I was bad at the game and had anxiety attacks from it, so I quit trying. Good to know that I wasn't as bad as the game was buggy. Great content!
Game: "I don't know the word 'walk'"
Someone took the concept that one does not simply walk into Mordor a bit too seriously.
Theese Games (On Xbox, PS2/PC and GBA) are of the nostalgiastest Games, that I have played and makes still fun, but the ones from EA are better.
The best things are in the Xbox-Version are:
- The rewards from good deads.
- The consequences from bad deads.
- The Interactions and Quests from the NPCs.
- The detailed and lively style and atmosphere
But the Things that are better in the PS2- and PC-Version are:
- The Hidingplaces from Noke's Herbs are better.
- The Fellowship fight with the Player against the Enemies.
- Weathertop and Amon Hen are there better.
And if Pros from the PS2- and PC-Version are combined with one from the Xbox-version, it would be a great Game.
But overall, like I said this is a good Game and one of the most nostalgiastest.
I had also played this GameBoy Advance-Game as Kid.
The old Forrest and Moria was a really horrible Experience without a Map and the Graphics in this Game would even work on the Gameboy Color.
This Game ist bad, but it makes suprisingly also addicted and it is very nostalgia and had good Artwork and of course the Music is beautiful, I had brought this Game as a Kid, becuase I love Lord of the Rings since it came out in Cinemas and the Hype was really high, esspecilialy as Child.
And I got through Moria even as Kid and saw also the End of this Game.
The EA-Games are MUCH better, because the Gameplay makes more fun and are very good playable, but like I said, this Game is very nostalgia.
And thank you very much for this Review!!!!
And thank you for making my wish come true!!!!
The text based game part was hilarious. Thanks for all the effort and love you put in these videos.
I'm surprised with the GBA version of Fellowship you didn't cover how the game has a game ending glitch unless you know the trick (I don't know if it was ever patched out in later prints of the game).
One of the last doors in Mines of Moria would glitch you out and you'd be frozen and stuck forever. I replaced the game twice (having to replay the game up until that point 3 times) and then I had to call Vivendi tech support to ask "WTF?" and they only had one work around. In order to get past that door, you had to pause the game as you entered it, wait about 5 seconds, and then unpause and you'd be on the other side.
I actually did enjoy the GBA game up until that part and having to replay up to that point three times kind of soured it for me.
The ps2 mission with Gandalf in the mountains vs trolls wolves and orcs. That level affected me as a youth lol
