I GOT A FAKE CHECK | SCAMMER CHECK

- I got a fake check in the mail with a job offer as a secret shopper from a company called The Penny Hoarder Survey Program. Here's how it works, First you deposit the fake check and the funds will be in your account in a few days, the bank will even tell you the check has cleared.
You go to the store and you’ve been asked to shop at Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and other major retailers. You’re instructed to buy eBay gift cards and to scratch the back of the gift cards and send pictures of the cards or to give the numbers on the cards. You are supposed to send the pictures to whatever email they provide you and after that, you get a portion of the money which is usually around $400 and THAT'S IT!!!
Fast forward a few days later to find out the money from the fake check you deposited into your bank has bounced and you now owe the bank all that money. Now the scammer gets away with it they’ve taken all the money off the gift cards.

Has anyone else gotten a FAKE scammer check before 💰
I received a check today for $5,945.00 from someone in Texas who said they wanted to buy some of my art. The total for the Art was $345.00. I contacted the person saying I would tear up or return the check, then I remembered hearing something about this kind of scam! Oh. My. Gosh! And...of course, NOT cashing the check. Thanks. I would screw with the scammers and say I kept the money for myself.
My girlfriend got one yesterday! When I seen I I immediately said it’s a scam! Nobody will send you money before completing ANY job. Than an assignment of buying gift cards? Most definitely not buying! The check looks fake an the entire thing is bogus! We are in a pandemic when they giving free money?
Im here because im a plumber who owns a newer buisness and i would get txt, not calls, to do work and they said they can only send checks. Ive gotten multiple txt and they all want the same work for around 1500 bucks. I immediately saw the red flags and never continued but im confused how sending someone a check helps them?
My daughter just got a fake check today in the amount of $2,884.00. She was selling a horse bridle and matching breast plate for $154.00. Was sent from Georgia and the check says the bank is in Utah. She blocked the number on her phone and I put the check in the shredder. $2.884.00 for a $150.00 item? Really??

When you think about it, the fake check scam doesn't make any sense. If someone else has money that they need to spend, then they would handle everything themselves. They don't need to give the money to someone else so that this other person would use the money to make that persons payments.
I got a check from “ mead chasky “ it’s some type of sports company . I tried to cash it at a local check cashing chain and the teller told me the check wasn’t legit . I called my bank before hand and they said I had to call the company to verify with my bank. The company I called picked up once and hung up immediately
They say banks only have green or black & white cashier check...never blue or white
So i would strong advice that once u get a check u should take it to ur bank for verification
I cashed the check then kept his info all the emails even the number he texted from and they tracked it back to him Nd he got arrested and I got $5000

People say that there are legit secret shopper jobs and so ppl who apply or accidentally apply(if didn’t apply def red flag) don’t know if real or fake wonder if there’s online site to identify real vs fake checks. Have be careful bc bank May close acct also could seem like real and if go thru could get return later and person responsible
What if they say they help homeless and never ask for money? They did want me to give bank info..i refused so she said she will mail a check

Yes anther scam is they send you 3000 check say keep 500. Send 2500 overnight for the sticker detail to place on your card. They say you get 500 a month for like six months in at the end that some person would remove that sticker.

This scam happened to me in college, the eBay gift cards and sending them the scratch offs. They got my school email and i thought it was legitimate ugh it was such a mess i had to pay 2,500 off that I didn’t even have in the first place

It's funny how the scammer sends a very specific amount, like $2,437.67. That would give it away for many people. Prize money is usually just a number followed by a certain number of zeros. A very specific number like $2,437.67 looks more like some unpaid bill amount. Exist the opposite situation. Our co-op had an accountant who embezzled $73,000 over the course of 5 years. He was writing out checks that were nice and even, $500, $1,000, $5,000, $2,000, amounts that looked more like prize money, not like bill amounts that one would expect in this situation

I just received one for office supplies for a Data entry job. I was instructed to deposit into my account and email the deposit slip to a manager. I haven’t done anything yet, I’m trying to figure out how I can scam him back
This just happened to me the other day, and i fell for it now my bank is deciding wether i got really scammed or not and on top of that they want to close my account because of this fake check I deposited

I feel like I’m about to be in the same situation for a job I applied for online except he hasn’t sent it yet. If it does come in keeping the check and ripping it up.

What kind of job? I'm going through the same thing! I applied for a driving job and a lady contacted me and told me she was sending me a check to rent the car and my 1st weeks pay. I just got the check in the mail today for 4,950
That is happening to me currently the 1st one could not be read by mobile deposit an attempt to mail me a check was stopped by FedEx security and the 3rd I cashed only to have to reverted and have my bank account closed hopefully I get it back

I got the same fake check and didn't know it and took it to my bank and the bank held it for 8 days and then told me to come and get the money it was a good and I went and got the money and did what it said to do and the next thing I knowed like a week later they called me and told me they wanted their money back but I had done spending it and didn't have the money to give them and they got me with a warrant and I had to go to jail over it now I'm in a lot of trouble and I don't think it is fair I didn't do nothing but what I was supposed to the bank should have checked the check and seen that it was a fake check that is their job right not mine but then they called me jumping onto me insisting I paid them right back and I live on a fixed income I think I did nothing wrong but the law says different is that right or is that wrong please let me know thank you i went to jail and I'm still in trouble for it . I have all my friends that has got a check from the same people tear it up you don't want to be in the same boat I am in right now oh my God I am in so much trouble over this I don't think I have done anything wrong I was just doing what I was told I was living in a house with no power and I thought that would help me get my power turned back on and I was so happy and now he has been nothing but misery and heartache for me

I voided it out i never deposited it to my account these people could be trying to scam me out of money from my bank account they don't know your financial institution until you deposit it. If it's not legit.

If someone is offering you free money then it’s a scam. If you have to work for your paycheck then it’s legit. And by working I don’t mean buying gift cards and sending the info to someone else, hahaha.

I got scammed 2 years ago the same way my Suntrust account was closed behind that incident and I owe them like 1900 dollars for the scam and my bank said I should of never took the money 💰 out of my account that’s crazy and they the one cleared the check but they said the bank has to release a certain amount of money regardless if the check is fake or not 🤷🏾♂️

Paul Roland I don’t believe you will go to jail.. What they do is the money will probably go in your bank and then the check would bounce and you would end up paying the bank that money you thought you had...Don’t do it 😳

I looked it up online and found a bunch of people talking about this company...I googled the address that it came from and found out they are scammers.
Ex girlfriend scammer . Send me check s says sold dads property and I said I'm not going to cash it and said need to send share to uncle. Block her they texted me treated me . She said i mm her husband. Mmmmm . I received 2 I'm the mail and one more is coming. Poor company who is getting ripped off. As as Im going to report u to the FBI. @@JeffzBeard Yeah I got a job offer 2 to 3 days ago said something about I will make about 85,000 or million or 125,000 or million a year they said something about I will be responsible for managing other people make sure they’re doing the job and I have to be at least 30 years old and stuff but here’s the thing they hire me without giving me an interview first just Gotta be careful out there
