Imho, she is not a Falcon. I loved her as Desdemona. Even Brunnhilde wasn't bad. But Octavian, Ortrud, I feel she should have left alone. She doesn't have much chest voice, for one thing.... Why she recorded Octavian but not the Marschallin is beyond me. I heard her Marschallin live and she was stunning.
Gwyneth is one of my desert island singers, always thrilling and insightful. I saw her many times in various roles. I would say Ortrud was her least successful role. This is simply poor singing, and yet she delivered a good Norma in the same year.

She recorded a video Marschallin, under Kleiber, and it is one of the best performances on DVD.
