👁 About this video : Time to check out a classic with this 1966 Ford Mustang GT!! This particular model started off as a normal Mustang and one of the owners converted it into a GT! That is a very hard model to find so sometimes you have to create one! This one is done up right with authentic parts and looks very nice! The exterior has a great classic look to it and is definitely much different then the modern Ford Mustang's today! I love the chrome accents, they were popular back then and still look good today. The wheels and suspension have been upgraded and this drives very nice of course with modern shocks! It has a sweet sound to it coming from that V8 and there were so many options available for this car back in the 60's! From different engines to transmissions, the GT was fully loaded and the king of the muscle car world! This model also has some modern features like AC to make it more daily driver friendly, but aside from that, taking it back to 1966 with this classic, sure makes you appreciate how far technology has come, and also what started it all!

Safety features and regulations that didn’t exist (or were very uncommon) back then allowed manufacturers to basically draw up whatever design they wanted on paper and throw a motor into it, that’s why. They didn’t have to worry about how fuel efficient their cars were or how safe they were. Modern cars cannot make these wild designs as they need to worry about aerodynamics, safety, and cost. They don’t draw cars on paper anymore but use computers to calculate the most aerodynamic, safe, and consumer friendly design which is why old heads say that all cars look the same nowadays (but they always did throughout car history lol). I agree though these cars are works of art on wheels.

It is certainly unique to experience a 50 year old car. I bought a 66 Mustang for my son when he was 16 (not in the same class as that one) and he loved it. Ours is a 289 with the 3 speed but no a/c, manual brakes and manual steering. You need to drive one like that !! The Mustang is an amazing car, given its total evolution. The Cruise-a-Matic three speed is not an overdrive, just a basic automatic transmission. You put it on the green dot and go.... I believe that the National Mustang museum is in Charlotte - might be a good destination for a future video.

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed

I wasn't expecting this one to have so much modern features, but it drives very nice with all of those comforts! I'm sure without power steering it would be way different! I haven't heard of that museum but might look it up to see!

I really enjoyed your video. I’m 66 years old and own a 1966 Mustang GT convertible. It’s fun to hear a much younger perspective of my type of car. @@BrosFOURRSpeed There I am again...🤣 Wanted to add something.
I’m planning to buy one of these Mustangs. Definitely a Mustang, but new or old? A new one is more practical by its modernization, but older ones have something special: character. They’re iconic.
      I want that.
But there’s one problem: I’m afraid I won’t be able to afford it. The costs of fuel (and maintenance/repair?) are high.

So strange hearing someone talk about a 66 Mustang and how it's so antique like it's a Model T and surprisingly driveable even with manual windows lol. Graduated high school in 99 and in my senor year I got a 66 Mustang coupe with a 289 V8 as my first car. Drove that thing everywhere, back and forth to college, to work etc. Love that car and it never has let me down. Still have it to this day. Learned how to rebuild the engine, transmission, brakes, suspension. I don't see it as good for its time or something that needs to be babied or driven gently. It's a very capable car. I love your enthusiasm though you seem to have a great deal of respect and excitement for the classics.

Beautiful car! 40k is most definitely on the higher side of what one of these should be going for. It is a classic, but you can most definitely restore one of these on your own (if you’re willing to put the work in), and have a Mustang making 400-600hp depending on your budget. Regardless it is way cheaper to restore one of these on your own $40,000 is insane for 225hp.
GT 350 selling right now in OKC for $16,000 in beautiful condition. It’s a 4 cylinder, but $3,000-$4,000 and you have yourself a V8 under the hood.

My 65 gt has a 4 speed and a front bench seat. Front bench seat is rare so may add value, but I prefer bucket seats. Just installed a holley efi sniper fuel injection system. That was a bitch trouble shooting the issues the sniper system gave us. Got that dialed in now and now we have a cooling issue. Cooling system worked amazingly well before the sniper. Runs amazing until it overheats now. Can't wait to get this going. Beautiful fun car.

This car is over priced. I've been restoring classic mustangs since my highschool years and I own a few different years. Cars like this sell in the teens. Maybe $15,000. It's a Mish mash of parts and styles. The pony seats don't have actual pony doors or pony instrument bezel. The C code to A code doesn't add $20,000. You can build this yourself for less than $10,000. I'm sorry. I love classic Mustangs but this over priced stuff needs to stop. Building and daily driving your own classic mustangs is in my opinion fairly cheap and achievable by anyone that wants to put in some time in their highschool days. Owning and driving my own 1966 mustang as my first vehicle in highschool was an amazing experience. Anyone can buy and build this car. Just do it. You won't be disappointed just don't pay anywhere near this much for one.

I'm not saying this is overpriced or underpriced, but some people just want to drive around in something already done. It was a cool mustang though, first time in a classic!

Its very difficult to find one at net sales price below $20k, unless it needs floor pans, or paint and body. You can find one that requires restoration for $10 to $12k, but by the time you gather parts, and paint the car, you're way over $20k. Seems its best to spend a few thousand more and get a nicer one. I just paid $17,250 for a decent A code that's solid with a fairly recent base coat, clear coat paint job. Between a daily driver and concours. They are hard to find. For less than $20k. There are a few, but buyer beware.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed You did a fantastic job on the video, don't get me wrong, you are a great salesman, but you are not familiar with the heritage of this car and the details are as follows: 1. You introduce the car as a GT when it would have made more sense to represent it as a tribute up front in the video. 2. You say that it has an MSRP around $40,000. when in actuality, it is worth much less because of the lack of originality and lack of historical documentation. 3. An A-code engine, even if real, much less fake, should not be represented as a High Performance 289 as is/was displayed on the air cleaner. 4. I see under-ride traction bars welded to the rear unibody frame sections, indicating that this car may have been raced at one time in its life. 5. I see water coming out of the exhaust and an aftermarket aluminum radiator which could be a sign of overheating problems / cracked head(s) causing coolant consumption (very common with these engines). 6. You didn't emphasize that the A/C that was installed is aftermarket and not original. 7. The Pony interior is not complete without the correct door panels and courtesy lights in the doors. 8. The Pony seats that were added are not leather and never were from the factory. 9. The 8000 rpm aftermarket Scott Drake Rally Pac is not correct for an A-Code Mustang. 10. The instrument panel and glove box door are not correct for a GT. The GT had a slightly different design for those items. 11. The dash was hacked for the aftermarket radio. 12. Spare tire is not mounted in the correct location. 13. "Put it in overdrive?" c'mon man... The cruise-o-matic back then either used 1-2-3 or 2-3 depending on the dot position you have the shifter in, but never only 1-2, and a c4 never had overdrive. 14. The odometer on these cars only have 5 digits for the miles. The white digit is tenths. How can you possibly say that it is about to turn 400,000 when there are only 5 digits for the miles? The car is clean. but not worth 40. If millenials are paying that kind of money for those, then I can get $150k for my _real_ 65 GT K-Code Pony Fastback. But not so in reality... Thanks

@@BrosFOURRSpeed While the car’s exterior can certainly give you clues on whether or not it’s authentic, you’ll want to check the GT’s mechanical components and undercarriage just to be sure.
If the vehicle features its original engine, it will most likely be a 289 cu in (4.7 L) small block V8 with a four-barrel carburetor, as this was the standard option for the GT equipment package.
Perhaps one of the best ways to ensure the car’s authenticity is its A code or K code within its VIN. The A or K code should be the 5th digit within the VIN.
Further, the car’s undercarriage will feature a dual exhaust hanger bracket and reinforcement to accommodate the exhaust components.
The classic GT should also feature a sway bar with a 13/16” diameter. The suspension includes heavy-duty shock absorbers as well as rigid front coils and rear springs. Its stopping power will be disc brakes with the brake line residing left of the exhaust bracket, and it will feature a large single master cylinder.
