Hello out there! I am so overwhelmed by all of your support, this is insane! Thank you!
I have gotten a lot of questions about the shaders - so I am going to make a short video explaining the installation, settings I use, and some options you might want to consider especially if you aren't playing on a supercomputer. Look out for that on Sunday!
Episode 2 is in the works as well! Thanks again everyone
i have a feeling this series is going to blow up keep it up my man its really good
@@gobnbi
Never seen anyone fit so well into any community before
That is an incredibly kind thing to say and means a lot. Thank you
Got to be 1 of the best introductions to GTNH I have ever seen, keep it up and never let the quest book rule the way, just remmber its you playing the pack, not Three not Diddy not Dream Master himself ( but take hints when needed). Look forward to seeing the next 300 hours.
great advice - i will 100% be keeping this in mind. thank you!
This video is such a hidden gem. Looking forward to seeing this get picked up by the algorithm and seeing your channel blow up, this editing is excellent for a first video. Can't wait for EP2!
Thank you! I had a lot of fun making it and learning some new tools. Still much to learn! I can't wait!
Well it popped up on my recomennead, guess the algorithum is working.
"learning how to enjoy gaming again"
That sums it up quite well.
I've never played a save in a game for such a long period of time.
The grind that is GTNH is a blessing in its own right. By forcing you to go slow the game makes you appreciate the leaps in progress a lot more. New machines can turn what was a soulcrushing grind before into a comfortable process afterwards.
Basebuilding is something that I mostly ignored in other modpacks. When you don't need a lot of time to get all the resources you could ever need, there is hardly any reason to build a nice house.
With GTNH however one quickly realizes that there is much time to be spend in the base which encourages you to turn it into a place that's comfortable to live in.
What I really like about your video, is how you portrayed that personal story from the humble beginnings in a hole in the ground to a new shiny factory building.
I really emphasize with that feeling of leaving your early game base behind, because you spend a lot of time there and it really becomes a sort of home.
Have fun on your journey!
It only gets crazier from here.
so accurate - for too long i had this version of what gaming was supposed to be in my head, just intrinsically fun - but the truth is the more you put in the more you get out. GTNH is the perfect way to realize that again if you had forgotten it like I had.
Condensing 300 hours into one 20 minute video is honestly insane. Props to you for managing to get the important stuff in. Also it took the group I’m playing with around 400 hours to reach EV, so nice work for getting there faster (although I’m sure people can get to EV much faster than this)
haha yes i watched early parts of the ballers run that was done by the GTNH devs (vods are on sampsa's channel) and they got to AE in mere days. Completely insane, though there are quite a few of them and they are the devs lol. I took basically a direct path to AE and filled all the ore processing time with bees and thaumcraft (using the block gate trick before i realized it was considered a bug saved at least 15 hours alone), did nearly everything in massive batches with no automation other than fuel (so minimal time spent making machines, tinkering with setups, etc), and used the home command
8:45 fun fact, the Trophy assembler recipes can use any trophy. So the Flight Flask can be made with any trophy and a feather.
REALLY?!? That IS a fun fact! would give a use for that silly squid trophy :P
Happy this appeared on my homepage love seeing people excited about games like this it makes me want to try Greg Tech again
do it!! so much fun, so much to to try! Thank you!
just started GTNH myself about a week ago, i dont have much playtime due to work but this is amazing and really makes me want to continue playing!
Remember, there is no rush! Delayed gratification is very good for the spirit :)
The next big thing! Keep it up❤
Thank you
Great video! Definitely would love to see more like this.
I am working on episode 2 :D Thanks!
Love this vid, keep making more
Thank you! I'm on it!
30’th subscriber! Im here for the journey!
Welcome! :D
And maybe document the rest of your time in GTNH. And maybe other mods, you can make this a job if you want or just to pass the time just remember the choice to do something u love and possibly make it your job is better than having a job u hate that pays well. But I don’t know your financial situation so do what u want just always set times to do things that make u happy
solid advice - you are so right!
Man I would love so much to be paid to play this gem... I'm currently unemployed trying to find a job I actually want to do (not like the one I had before) and it sometimes comes in my head that I should better be spending my time on something I would actually be paid to do (3D rendering and engine programming) instead of playing GTNH but I never had such a gaming experience in almost my whole life. I thought about making videos about my gameplay (~700h, mid-HV) but even if the communty is very welcoming and kind I don't think it's gonna be enough to pay the rent of my condo in Paris haha
@@MineNat69 i can relate, but i also think making time for things you enjoy is smart. Also - public speaking, relationship management, time management, marketing, SEO, video editing, and storytelling can all be valuable skills in the right context - not just youtube. Don't sell yourself short :) Maybe creating original mods or helping develop a pack, even GTNH itself, would be a place to hone the skills you want
I couldnt agree any more.
There is no other game, minecraft modpack like GTNH. I am playing this modpack 7-8years. I tried many other games and modpack since I played GTNH first time. NONE of them took my attention or intrest for more than couple hrs. Comparing to GTNH everything else feels "very flat" to me...
Congrats to all developers of this game. They did AMAZING job.
you nailed it. comparing anything else feels very flat. indeed, the developers have done something amazing!
Lets go! The algorithm blessed me once more with quality recommendations!
By any chance are you playing on ThreeFold´s seed? The placement of those biomes seems too familiar, especially the mountains in the Mesa.
nope! Though I do miss the valley at times :P It's a random one. I think maybe because of the specific worldgen rules for GTNH a lot of the seeds can have things in common - like way too much snow :)
Seed: -3269824699782151906
So glad I found this video. A wonderful way to start a Channel :)
What I would really love to see is a series with a little more in-depth/let's play kind of style. Maybe with episodes covering only 100 days.
But whatever you end up doing I'm happy to be one of your first 100 subscribers 😁
I have been thinking about how exactly to go forward - i agree 300 hours is a lot - it also takes a long time to play that much! I like your idea... :) I will explain my short term plan in episode 2!
@@GarronimoI imagine it takes around 300 hours
@@KingMe-qz2hr LOL niiiiice
This video will forever be what made me want to play gtnh ty for blessing me with a new time sink 😊
Yes! It will be so hard to go back to anything else once that feeling of accomplishment hits! :P So so good!
We all know GTNH is good, it's about wether you have 5000 hours to burn or not. It is a HUGE commitment.
These are facts - but it can help if you dont have a timeline for playing 5000 hours. There's no rush! :) Also "playing to win/finish the game" is something that got a little tired for me, I'm just playing to enjoy now.
Such an awesome video, it really sums up GTNH early game quite well. I hope you keep progressing, keep posting as well!
Glad you enjoyed! I tried to do the pack justice. It gets trolled and that's fun too, but I just love it so far and can't wait to see what is next! Thank you!
man if only my friends had the ethic to complete packs like you do 😂will keep a close eye on this channel going forward!
hahaha :D this pack is special!
Hey that's me! Thanks for the shoutout. This video was awesome! Can't wait for the next episode!
The man the myth the legend! Whoever sees this, follow this man!
oh no..... I've been avoiding it for so long but you MAY have just inspired me to start GTNH soon...
yeeeeeeeessssss. muahahahahaha!
Very good a new guy to watch 400 of gtnh with keep it up
haha absolutely! there is much to do!
wow, very good video, definitely deserved a subscribe
Thank you!
Very well spoken. Great introduction to GTNH. Keep it up!
Thank you
Loved the vid. I hope I can see more Keep it up!!!!
Thank you! :D
Amazing content, cant wait to see more!!! 🎉
Thank you! Coming soon :D
such a hidden gem, I'm glad the algorithm picked it up
What is happening?! I can't believe it! Thank you so much!
lovely video, more please :)
you got it! thank you!
Amazing job Garronimo! Hope for more!
Thank you! Episode 2 just released!! :D
Banger content, excited to see more!
Thank you! I can't wait to make more :D So much fun
Great video! I'd love to know how you got your game to look like that, are you using shaders? I tried getting to shaders to work, but everything just look dark red, don't know what I'm doing wrong!
Thank you! I am using shaders - actually a custom shader made by one of the pack developers - but it's very very similar to complimentary shaders v4.7.
Make sure you also download and install optifine (client side only) before you install the shaders.
Fair warning - they are SUPER taxing on the GPU! I am very close to max utilization but I'm willing to trade a bit of FPS for aesthetics.
cant wait to see the next episode where you build the stargate.
LOL yep, 2 episodes to complete. EZ pack :P
Fun to see someone else's start! I'm afraid this is going to get me to start playing again. I spent way too much time building a hard to traverse base in my own game, machines too far from storage, and burnt out before MV...
It can definitely happen - my strategy has been not to invest too much time in building before getting to AE - and now I can spread out and bring my whole inventory with me :D
consider thaumcraft and electro-magic tools, you can craft nano boots of the traveller, according to wiki has a speed of 16.62m/s
@@chinodesu3184 well, certainly not in LV, which is where I was at... Amateur GTNH tip: do not build for fancy base layouts early on, build practically.
@@eriksteenman2803 absolute truth. especially because all the recipes build on each other. for example oil, desulfurization, light fuel, heavy fuel, polyethylene, and sodium persulfate all need to be linked and all you have is GT pipes to do it with. it's gonna be messy if you're new. and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. there's beauty in the chaos too. It's all going to be redone 10+ times anyway :P
@@chinodesu3184 it took me a bit to get used to the speed but now I can hardly believe how slow I am with no nano boots of the traveler!
For the animals quest - honestly you don't even need it. The reward - unbreakable mattock - is easily craftable as soon as you hit MV.
LOL - I needed that lesson :P I had been holding on to claiming that quest reward for so long without looking close enough at it that when i finally went to claim it and couldn't it just burned me up so bad I had to complete it
you planning to make regular update on this or just rarer one off vids? here for it either way. great vid
Thank you! This is something I plan to address in episode 2 - sneak preview: there are some parts of the pack (like building/decorating) that take a long time but don't fit this video format very well - and I want to do it all :) I have some ideas about how to do that I will share!
well good luck with the pack. looking forward to more content either way.
gtnh AND shaders? God damn it looks beautiful
for real! just the aesthetic alone makes me want to build something epic :D
Amazing that’s all I got to say amazing
thank you! glad you enjoyed. this is an awesome pack!
this is a fun way to cover this content I like it
Thank you! There is so much going on in this pack I can't wait to see where we can all take the story :P
Well that's just the fastest subscribe anyone has ever got out of me.
hahaha love it! thank you!
Omg pls make a playthrough we need more people to make gtnh content
I'm on it!
Cool
Thanks!
Hey cool video! I wander what shaders are you using?
I am using ComplementaryNeon by Sampsa :) you can find them in his discord (linked on his youtube channel)
@Garronimo Could you please share what shaders are you using, and info if you modified any of the files for the modpack?
I've been looking into modding sildurs, so it accepts all the modded blocks and their properties, through metadata, but hell is it tedious
I made a video on this subject due to popular demand :D check it out on my channel!
@@Garronimo Ah yes indeed, thanks for a swift response, and excuse my lack of preliminary research!
@@juleklO no sweat! hope it helps :)
Looks like you added some kind of shaders. If so what was that process like?
I did! I am using ComplementaryNeon by Sampsa (GTNH Dev), it's a slight alteration of Complementary Shaders v4.6 (4.7 is out at this point I believe).
you just need 2 things:
1- Optifine for 1.7.10
2- Your shader of choice
The GTNH wiki has some details on which shader packs work best and how to customize them to fit GTNH, but neither ComplementaryNeon or Complementary Shaders require any customization, which is why I use those :)
Just drop optifine into your mods folder, then launch the game, go into settings ->shaders and select your shader if its already in the folder or user the open folder button and drop your shader zip in there, then select it.
If you plan to use architecture blocks (the sloped ones) - be sure to turn "old lighting" on in the shader options. Hope this helps!
Fair warning - they are resource hogs :P
@@Garronimo Thank you kindly! Look forward to more of your videos. thanks again for the tip.
@@WhiteEagleLive absolutely!
te quiero mucho
muchas gracias!
any chance you would be willing to make a schematic of the gtnh logo in your base?
absolutely - i know that mod is in the pack but i havent used it yet. I'll figure it out and make one :)
sorry this took so long i had to get some help from some viewers on stream to figure out the schematics mod :P - if you DM me on discord (same name) i can send you the schematic file!
How did you get Compressed chests in LV?
Ah I see its a recap. Great Vid!
@@Retic_01 haha yep! Thank you very much!
Kind of a shame you didn’t record you actually progressing
it is - but we make it work! going forward from episode 1 things will change a bit :) and my life has changed a bit too :P 6 months ago when I started playing I never thought I would have time to do this. Life happens fast!
yeha, Thaumcraft i'm nver a fan of really
It's one I kind of get the mechanics of, but I've never fully explored. The research can be a bit dull, but once it's done it's done! I did most of mine in one session :)
how's your game look so good?
I am using a shaderpack called ComplementaryNeon by Sampsa, one of the developers of the pack :) It is very similar to Complimentary Shaders v4.7 - and a client side mod called optifine that allows shaders and enhances some of the particle effects, reflection effects, lighting effects, and the sky :)
@@Garronimo awesome, thanks for the reply i'll check that out :D
@@Garronimo where did you actually download his pack? I can find the complementary shaders but not his neon version.
thanks so much and subscribed!
@@jarededwards7018 it's in sampsa's discord! you can find that on his youtube channel. He has some great instructions there too, there are some minor differences with how you install, in that the folder should not be zipped like it normally is.
@@Garronimo you're awesome, thank you!!
great video, would appreciate it if you spoke less like you were reading a script and more naturally though
fair! I will work on it - it's harder than it seems :P at least for me! Hopefully it got a little better towards the end :)
