Halloween 2023 - The Haunted Mansion

Who doesn't love a good theme for decorating on the holidays? This year I finally made good on doing Disney's Haunted Mansion as I had everything I needed for the effects. A huge thanks to my wife and daughter for a majority of the decorations and getting those up around the house. I added a small projector which runs a 15 minute loop of the entire Disneyland attraction soundtrack, interspersed with projections of Madame Leota, the busts singing Grim Grinning Ghosts, and yes the Hitchhiking Ghosts at the end will try to come home with you.
The projector is mounted on a small platform above the porch entrance and projects onto a painted panel which covers the windows above the doorway. I had wanted to do projection mapping onto real forms (styrofoam heads) but honestly the effect looks good just centered on that space and I'm happy with it. Audio is provided by a battery powered speaker and the whole loop is driven by an old iPad. If I had time I'd find a way to make this a semi-permanent setup triggered with motion detection, though for now it will just run the weekend ahead of Halloween and on the big night itself.
